Chapter 7

Christmas was nearing and I hadn't decided about what I should get for Edward. I wanted to surprise him with a ticket to England as he said that he hasn't visited his grandparents for almost two years.

My phone buzzed and saw that Julia had texted me to meet her at the coffee shop down the road. I gathered all my things and walked out of my cabin to the exit of the hospital.

I entered the cafe and saw Julia sitting by the window and typing away on her laptop. I slowly made my way to the booth and sat across her. "Hi, Jules." I said. "Oh, hi! Sorry, didn't notice you coming. Work has been quite hectic." She replied with a sigh. I nodded at this. We ordered two cups of coffee and started to talk about what has been going in our lives.

"It seems, we haven't met each other for ages. You're always busy spending time with Mr.Brit . It's not healthy." Julia said, winking. I raised my hands in mock defense, "I was busy with work also, like you." She just laughed and said, "I forgive."

The whole afternoon was spent in the cafe, talking about anything and everything. I asked her, what I should gift Edward, though it was of no help or at least I wasn't satisfied with her suggestion. I mean, why would I gift Edward a lubricant? Julia snapped her fingers in front of my face, "Hey, what's wrong! I didn't say anything wrong. Wait, don't tell me you didn't..."

"Uh.....it's..." I didn't know what to say, because I and Edward never shared any intimate moments. It was nothing beyond small pecks and make outs. When I looked at Julia, I was worried that her eyes pop out of her sockets. I've never seen Julia this shocked. "NO WAY!!" she literally yelled. I looked around and saw some of the customers looking at us. I tried to shut her but nothing worked.

After a whole fifteen minutes, she calmed herself, took several heavy breaths, drank some water and asked, "What's stopping you, Miss Hills?", in a posh tone, which made me burst out laughing. "Oh, shut it. It's not a big deal." Like always, Julia left this conversation and we went back talking about nonsense.

I looked at my wrist watch and saw that it was nearly seven in the evening. We both gathered our things from the cafe table and parted ways. I got in my car and received a text from Edward, asking where I was. I texted him back, saying I was on my way.

I reached home in an hour and started fumbling with my keys. I opened the door and was in a state of awe. The lights were off but the whole living area was lit with candles. The television was on and The Notebook was playing. The couch had blankets and popcorn buckets and haribos were kept on the coffee table. Over all, it looked cozy and comfortable.

I slowly made my way to the kitchen and saw a figure standing near the counter and stirring something.

Soon, the lights were switched but were kept dim. I looked around and was awestruck. Everything was decorated with fairy lights and the dinner table was decorated with flower petals and candles.

A clearing of throat brought be back to earth. I turned around and saw Edward, wearing a black hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, leaning against the kitchen countertop with a smirk on his face.

"What's all this for?" I asked him. He simply shrugged and said, "Just wanted to do something for you." with a smile. I went towards him and hugged him.

After breaking from our hug, I went upstairs to our shared bedroom and changed into a pair of pyjamas and a grey hoodie. I returned and saw Edward finalizing everything on the dinner table. I walked towards him and hugged from behind and rested my head on his back and said, "Thank you, Edward, for everything you've done for me. I don't know how to repay you." He hummed and suddenly, in a swift movement turned and faced me, a smirk covering his face, "Actually, you can." I looked at him quizzically. "By spending time with me." He replied with a wide smile. I smiled at this and slowly kissed his lips.

After breaking from our kiss, Edward placed the food he prepared on the candle lit table and filled our glasses with champagne. He pulled the chair for me to sit on. "Always so chivalrous." I smiled at him. He smiled back and sat across me. We both ate the delicious food cooked by Mr. Brit in silence.

I helped him with the dishes after eating and went to the living room for our late movie night. I was looking for a movie to watch, when Edward came with a bowl of popcorn in one hand and an ice cream bucket on the other.

"Have you chosen, anything?" Edward asked, I shook my head. I looked at him and knew what he was going to say, just pretended not to know about it. "Let's just watch The Notebook." Edward replied after thinking for a while. I smirked at him and said, "Fine by me." I started the movie and sat on the couch, cuddling with Edward.

We were watching the movie and finishing off the ice cream bucket, when Edward's hand went inside my hoodie and started caressing my back.

The night had passed, in a way, I had never imagined and to be honest, I didn't want it to end any other way. I was satisfied and happy and so was Edward.
