Chapter 8

Winter arrived, Christmas was knocking on the door and I decided to gift Edward a flight ticket to England, so that he could spend some time with his grandparents. He did say, he didn't go to London for almost three years. I hope he'll be happy with his gift. But that's one gift. The second gift that I bought for him is a journal, I know it's a small gift but i think he would appreciate it. He always has something to write and his current journal ran out of pages.

My parents were inviting the Langfords to their house for Christmas. I don't know how to feel about this. I don't want to keep their hopes up, especially Fionn's because he doesn't deserve it. He's too good for me. Fionn and I have become good friends and he knows about mine and Edward's relationship.

Fionn wouldn't have known about it but when I and Edward went to the city mall for some Christmas shopping, he saw us. It's good that he knows about it otherwise, I don't know what I would've done.

I feel bad for hiding my relationship with Edward from mum. She deserves to know it. I was sitting on my couch with a hot cup of coffee, staring at my cell, which was on the side table, wondering if I should call my mother and tell her everything or not.

I did what I felt right and dialed mum's number. I was nervous or maybe I was just worrying for no reason. My thoughts were interrupted by my mother's beautiful voice. "Hello, yes Ava. How are you, my darling?" She asked. I sighed and replied, "Hey Mom. I'm good. How are you?" "I'm good, just a little busy with all the Christmas work."

We were chatting about our daily lives and my heart was beating so fast because I needed to tell her for the actual reason I called her. "Mum, I need to tell you something." I abruptly said. My mother stopped talking and asked, "O-kay! Go ahead." I took a deep breath and started, "Mum, I'm sorry but.." "Tell me, sweetie, what bothering you?"

"I-uh-I don't want to marry Fionn." My mother was silent and that scared me. "I love someone else." I breathed heavily. "I-I'm sorry." "Ava, who is it?" She calmly said, as if she was talking to a baby. I answered, " His name is Edward."

" Why didn't you tell me about him earlier, honey?" She said. " I don't know. I was just so scared." I didn't realise I was crying, tears were falling down my cheeks. "Please, don't tell dad. I don't want him to know about it." I begged her. "Ava, it's okay. I won't tell him a thing. It'll stay between us. But can I atleast meet him?" She asked me. She sounded a little happy but also concerned. I wiped my tears and happily rellied, "Yes, definitely."
