Chapter 3: The Mission

Your POV

The minute I woke up I noticed something was off. The sun was shining brightly through the cracks in the curtains and the building was silent. Glancing towards the clock I noticed it was 5 AM... what? I looked towards my roommate who was supposed to wake me up. Lying down in her bed was Ela, her long, luscious green hair was sprawled across her face and a small smile was present on her plump lips. She was content and that strangely put me at ease, even though I was supposed to be furious with her for not waking me up. As I stood up Ela let out a cute yawn before sitting up, stretching her arms out with a resound *pop*. Immediately, she looked over at me and made eye contact with my eyes full of fury. At this she let out an awkward chuckle as she blushed.

"Aha, sorry but you looked so cute and I kind of fell asleep looking at your face" she said. I was suprised at her honesty and a bit embarrassed. A blush tinted my cheeks as Ela suddenly brightened up.

"*gasp* did you just blush?!" She exclaimed, to which I shook my head.

"Of course not" I denied, but she didn't seem convinced. She stood up, fully exposing her half naked body and started laughing while pointing at my cheeks.

"You ARE blushing hahahaha" Ela stopped laughing as she saw I wasn't looking at her face. Now it was her turn to blush as she quickly covered herself.

"While your getting changed I'm going to go get breakfast" I stated, heading towards the door.

"Wait!" Ela exclaimed, swiftly slipping i to some yoga pants "I want you to meet some of my friends"

"No thankyou" I replied, gripping the door ha idle.

"No, please. It's just a few I beg, think of it as becoming better peers" Ela begged, pulling a shirt over her head.

"*sigh* fine" I resigned, waiting next to the door.

As I walked through the cafeteria doors, I was greeted to the sight of a few operators eating and conversing with each other. Just as I grabbed my food Ela gripped my wrist and dragged me to a table consisting of 3 women. I sat down in a seat next to Ela and a Blonde woman.

"Heyy, my codename is Ash but my real name is Eliza" spoke the ginger, a smile on her face.

"hi, I'm Grace, out on the field its dokkaebi" stated the woman next to Ela.

"Hey sweetie, my name is monika but most people call me by my codename, IQ" spoke the woman sitting next to me.

"You can call me ghost, my speciality is stealth and defense of either a hostage or controlled explosives" I stated, taking a bite of cereal.

"You know there's bacon up there.. right?" Asked Monika, to which I grunted.

"Cereal has the nutrients I require to function properly, bacon and other meats may have benefits but they often contain fats that may hinder my ability if not burned off" I replied, gaining a sweat drop from most of the table.

"Is that wrong of me? Am I strange?" I asked, getting the desired reaction from the table, save for Ela who knew what I was doing. Most people dreaded making a bad impression and if they came across as making me uncomfortable about my choice of breakfast, it could make them feel like a terrible person. So I tended to use this to my advantage.

"Nononono, of course not" urged Monika, fo which I chuckled.

"Relax, you shouldn't care what people think of you, or fear what people think of your opinion" I told her, finishing my breakfast.

"Wha- what?" Monika asked in confusion.

"I know I'm abnormal, that's why most people find me strange. Your not the black sheep in thinking I'm strange aswell, quite the opposite actually" I replied. Before she could respond, the speakers crackled to life.

"can operators doc, Frost, Valkyrie, ela and ghost report to the debriefing room".

I could hear ela sigh as she walked to the debriefing room with me, clearly unhappy that I messed with her friend. Noticing her annoyance, I offered an apology.

"I'm... sorry, it's been awhile since I've had an actual conversation and I dont like social interactio" I apologized, much to her shock.

"Its.. no problem" she replied, gobsmacked that I actually apologised.

As we arrived, I saw the rest of the operators including six with a serious expression." I have called you here because some extremely compromising Intel is in danger of being handed to the white mask on a silver platter" she said.

"your mission is to defend the hostage from white masks until we can make safe transport arrangements" she finished, dismissing the squad.

Equipping a similar loadout to my polish roommate, I boarded the chopper and sat next to ela, who had a beaming smile on her face.

"Hey ghost, ready for the mission?" she asked.

"I am optimal right now, I would say I am mentally and physically prepared" I replied.

Time skip

We were set up and ready for the attack, our defences surrounded the hostage and we had three people close by to defend him from the many terrorists that would try and take him. We had to be careful though because if the first three squads fail to capture him, the last two have a job to kill him.

Me and Ela had a crucial part in the defence, our job was to thin the squads out so the main defenders were not overwhelmed. The first squad had moved in and they had split between 3 teams of five.

"Squad 1 is in 3 teams, team A is pushing main door, team b is pushing boat supplies window and team C will push from roof down" informed Valkyrie, utilising her black eye cams.

"Ghost, you thin out team A, Ela you thin out B, then both of you converge on Team C when they push down the stairs. By the time all 3 teams are outside the room we should be able to handle them" Doc directed us over the comms.

After that bit of information I strapped a piece of plastic explosive to the ceiling beneath main lobby and pushed back up the stairs, waiting outside main lobby door. After two minutes of waiting I heard clunking footsteps approach the main door. Once I was sure they were all in there I detonated the C4.

"Triggering C4" I called out as an explosion ripped through the peaceful air. Screams came from the team as the shrapnel ripped through their bodies, incapacitating them. I rounded the corner and shot a burst of bullets into each of their heads, wiping out the team.

"Team A eliminated, converging on Team C" I called out over comms.

"You wiped out a team that quickly?!" Asked Frost in suprise, to which I smiled.

"Affirmative" I confirmed, pushing up the stairs. A conclusive blast rattled from the other side of the building and a scorpion let out a burst of 20 bullets.

"Shield down, team B now only contains two people" Ela informed

"Good work you two, we can handle the re-" Doc was cut off by another piece of C4 detonating on the roof, followed by a hail of gunfire.

"Team C eliminated, coming back to site for resupply" I stated, breaking the silence.

... nothing was said in response.

As I entered the site, Doc gave me a concerning look but remained aiming towards a window. A quick burst from his mp5 and he called out

"All hostiles eliminated"

As I walked into the room, the hostage gave me a worried but interested look. Why aren't her eyes covered? I ignored that and started shuffling through the resupply box, looking for explosives I can use and my ammo type.

"Your quite aggressive on these teams, chill out or you can get caught off guard and lethally wounded" Doc advised. Valk and Frost looked towards us, curious at the conversation we were about to have.

"I'm a seasoned specialist, I don't get 'caught off guard' as you think" i replied.

"I wasn't 'advising' you I'm telling you, stop being aggressive" he demanded.

"I didn't accept the invite to join team rainbow to be bossed around by some Doctor" I replied, equipping a piece of C4 and a magazine for my scorpion.

"Well this 'Doctor' has many more hours in the field than you, so with my knowledge I'm going to tell you to stop being aggressive" he stated

"And how many of your so called hours was fixing knee scrapes and sprains?" I shot back rhetorically.

"As team Leader I have authority on this mission" he told me, stepping closer to me.

"But if I feel that the team leaders decision jeprodises the mission then I can go against that and i feel that me not thinning out these squads jeprodises the hostages safety" I replied, stepping closer to the Frenchman. We were face to face and a confrontation was bound to happen... until a gun shot rung out.

"Ela?.. Ela come in?" I spoke into the radio.

"..." dead silence

"Merde.. Ela may be compromised, defend against the second squad then we will send two operato-" I cut him off by barging past him.

"Out the way you fat French fuck" I spat, running out the room.

"Second Squad is moving in, 18 people split into 2 teams. They are creating a pinch on the hostage" valkyrie informed.

"GHOST! The hostage is in danger. Do NOT abandon the mission" he warned but I didn't respond. Ela's location live pinged to my phone so I sprinted towards her.

As I approached her staircase, a bullet grazed my arm from the hallway. I ducked behind the wall before blindly firing down the hallway, stopping when I heard two bodies drop. My arm stung with pain and i grit my teeth as i pushed towards her, gunning down another 2 enemies who rounded the corner. I was close, just one room away. An explosion ripped from the wall next to me, stunning me as I blindly fired into the room, getting grazed again in the shoulder. The magazine was emptied but the 3 people in the room was dead. Footsteps grabbed my attention so I dropped my scorpion and swiftly unholstered my pistol, aiming it directly at the doorway.

What rounded the corner was Ela, perfectly fine with a cheeky smile adorning her lips.

"Ela?... your okay?" I asked, confused.

"Yep, I heard you arguing with Doc so I faked being compromised" she replied, glancing at the bodies.

"Wow, you got here in a rush"

A range of emotions was going through me, I was terrified she was hurt, angry that the white mask would take her from me aswell... but now I was angry at her.

"Oh my God did you get shot?" She gasped, pointing to my injuries but I just ignored her.

"7 terrorists down, converging on the rest" I stated, walking away.

"Ghost your injured, you need to go to Do-" I cut her off.

"Back off Ela" I demanded, venom leaking from my tone. Ela was hurt by this, but couldn't respond as i had already left.

Ela POV

I was hurt. He was so cold to me and I know he usually is, but I was just worried about him. Our team cleared the rest of the squad out, Ghost picking off another 3 and the anchors picking off the rest. As I came back to site, I didn't notice ghost anywhere which meant he hadn't come back for a resupply.

"He's not here you know, way too pissed off. Plus he's got enough ammo and explosives to last the next few squads" chimed Valkyrie, pushing bullets into a magazine.

"Doc really annoyed him that bad?" I asked, to which Frost facepalmed.

"You bloody idiot" insulted frost, causing me to gape at her.

"What did I do?" I asked, genuinely confused.

"He doesn't give a shit about Doc, infact that would encourage him to come back and rub it in his face that he's carrying this mission" said valkyrie, confusing me more.

"Then why is he pissed off?" I asked.

"You!" Valkyrie and frost shouted at the same time.

"Me?! What did I do?!" I exclaimed.

"You faked being injured" started valkyrie

"Or dead" added Frost

"After that, he fought his way through a building crawling with terrorists, getting grazed TWICE!" Exclaimed valkyrie

"And then you laughed it off, telling him you were lying" finished Frost. I was dumbfounded.

"Okay, I get it. I was a bad teammate" I admitted, but that only seemed to infuriate them more.

"Oh for fuck sake let me spell it out for you!" valkyrie exclaimed "HE LOVES YOU!!!" I was shocked, there's no way... right?

"Oh Haha, funny prank. Quite immature to do it on a mission as important as this" I scolded, causing valkyrie to grab the sides of my head.

"He got angry that you faked being injured, he's always looking at you, your the only one he's close to and he risked his life to make sure your safe. He does this to NO-ONE ELSE!" She exclaimed, causing my eyes to widen.

"He does love me" I mumbled to myself.

"Exactly! Now after the mission you can go and talk to him but for now, focus on thinning the squads" she told me. I nodded, still too shocked at what I had discovered.

The third and fourth squads went about the same as the last two. Ghost went on a rampage through half the enemies, I grabbed a quarter while the anchors picked off the rest. Now though.. the fifth squad had a wildcard.

"Be warned Intel reports enemies with C4's strapped to their chests" spoke the handler.

"Stick close you two and watch each others backs, don't get cornered and aim for the head" Directed Doc. I could already see Ghost rolling his eyes on the other side of the building. I jogged over to his position, picking off two enemies who tried to flank me. While I moved towards him, gunfire suddenly erupted on the other side of the building. And then it happened, a hefty explosion shook the building and my heart sunk. My jog turned into a sprint as I tried to get to ghost a swift as I could. I cycled through horrifying scenarios in my head until I finally arrived at a completely destroyed room. Slumped behind a flipped over bookcase was ghost, clutching his left arm.

"Ghost?" I questioned. He turned his head up to me.

"Radio in all hostiles eliminated" he told me. I looked into the room and, to my suprise, all of squad 5 was laying across the room. All dead to the same explosion.

"I tossed my C4 and both bombers flinched, detonating their own exp-" I cut him off by tightly hugging him.

"I thought something terrible had happened to you" I said as he wrapped his non Injured arm around me.

"Well I have about 12 metal chunks embedded in my left arm" he replied, causing me to glance down to his arm. It was bleeding badly and the shrapnel was pretty deep.

"All hostiles eliminated but Ghost has shrapnel embedded in his arm" Ela reported.

"Get to extraction, I'll take a look at it when I get there" Doc replied, causing Ghost to role his eyes.

"Enough of that, I don't want you two arguing on the helicopter. Especially considering he's going to be fixing your arm" I demanded.

"... why do you care so much?" He asked, to which I looked into his eyes.

"... because I care about you" I whispered, but in the quite room he easily heard it.

Y/n POV

Before I knew what happened she grabbed my head and pushed her plump lips onto mine. At first I was shocked, but then I slowly eased into it. Our tongues battled eachother for dominance until i eventually won, pushing my tongue into her mouth and snaking it around everywhere. She let out a cute moan as i used my good hand to squeeze her ass. I wanted to keep going but she pulled away panting.

"I love you" I said without realising, to which she gaped at me.

"I love you too" she replied

"Y/n"

"What?" She questioned in confusion

"My name is y/n" I told her. Her eyes lit up and she smiled brightly.

"I love you y/n" she responded, kissing me once again.
