Chapter 6

Uriel was just your average man. He paid his taxes, he worked, he put food on the table for his family, etc. He was no different from your average man.

However, everything changed when the Fire Nation attac-

"This isn't Avatar, dumbass! And I want to explain my motives! You would paint me in a bad way!" shouted Uriel into the air, as if he was talking to some sort of omnipresent and omniscient god.

Uriel turned around to greet the trio who just entered his sanctum. "You are the ones who destroyed the corpses, correct?" He sighed, "It took quite some time and preparation to make them my slaves. Alas, they weren't of much importance, only some light security, but this really does irk me."

"That's cool and all, but can you skip to your villain monologue? I have a date with a bad little shawty at four, so I need ya to hurry up," Terrick said.

Clementine raised her eyebrows, "You, and I mean Terrick Alexander Ferguson, got a date?"

"Please, I make all the ladies swoon."

Amaris started stroking his chin, appearing deep in thought, "When did you have time to make a date?"

"I did it off screen, duh."

"But this is a book or something," Amaris replied, "There is no screen."

"Oh," Terrick realized, "Then I did off...page?"

Amaris nodded, "I guess that's how you would put it," he turned his head to look at the other man, who was just standing there dumbfounded. "Now, what are you doing in here?" Finally, they got to the monologue.

"You know, it's funny," Uriel started, "Loneliness is such a vague term. What does one define as being isolated from the world? What does one describe a state of complete and utter loneliness?"

"I honestly couldn't care less about whatever he's talking about," Clementine whispered.

Terrick nodded, "Facts. I honestly couldn't give any less fucks."

"Most probably think it would be obvious to spot the signs of loneliness. Yet, there are hundreds of thousands of people suffering from it." Uriel approached an open casket, where a young girl, who looked no older than 13, lied inside. "Even children."

He grabbed the girl's cold hand, "You would think that a child never gets lonely. After all, making friends as a child is pretty straightforward, is it not?" Uriel planted a kiss on the girl's forehead. "And they have parents."

"What's this dude point?" Terrick whispered.

"Do you see how young that girl is?" Clementine whispered back, "He's definitely a pedophile."

"Parents are supposed to care for their children. They are supposed to feed them, guide them, make sure they don't feel lonely." Uriel was struggling to keep the tears back, "Then why...why did she leave me?"

Upon this recent statement, Terrick and Clementine stopped insulting him behind his back, feeling sympathy for the man.

"I fed her. I supplied her. I taught her the basics of life and how to live. I tried my absolute hardest to make she succeed in life!" the tears were streaming down his face, "But I guess I wasn't enough for her. I guess I didn't give her the companionship she was needing. I guess...I didn't make her feel welcome enough."

"I'm sorry for your loss sir," Amaris commented, feeling sorry for the broken man. However, instead of breaking down even more, Uriel did something that surprised all three of them.

He laughed.

Not a laugh of joy or sorrow, but a laugh full of insanity. A laugh that itself was simply a mirror to the broken man's state of mind.

He was insane.

A madman.

Uriel got up and faced the trio. "Don't apologize, my boy. After all, you brought me the greatest gift that one could ever bestow upon me."

Amaris narrowed his eyes. "Clementine, look for traps," he whispered to his friend.

"Self: Clairvoyance," Clementine murmured. Her eyes glowed yellow as she looked around the sanctum, looking for anything suspicious or out of place. However, she didn't find anything unusual. "Everything looks clear. Though, I wouldn't be sure of it. The chaos could be disrupting my spell."

Amaris nodded, keeping his eyes trained on the man in front of him . "What do you mean by gift?" He only received laughter as a response.

"You were using Sosu, were you not? Which means you must have been a monk of one of the five orders, correct?"

Amaris kept a straight face, but he was really confused on the point the old man was trying to make.

"Because of all the training, all the mediation, your life is exactly what I need," Uriel told the boy, "And your friend's lives will do nice as well."

"Can you just tell us what you're doing here?" Clementine replied, annoyed with all the cryptic things Uriel said.

"Kids these days have no patience for proper writing," Uriel sighed, "If I rushed my explanation, then it would make it seem half-ass which would be terrible. I have, you know, I want to be among the best villains in this writing, despite being more of an introduction to the world and plot."

"That's cool, but I don't remember asking," Clementine said with a deadpan look. They really should stop this weird conversation, they are ruining the tone that was trying to be set.

"I'm just going to ignore you now," Uriel cleared his throat and focused his attention on the other two , "Anyways, I entered this cave several years ago, searching for the key to resurrection."

"Why don't we simply attack him now?" Clementine asked Terrick quietly.

Terrick didn't move his eyes off Uriel. "Because you just don't attack someone during their monologue. It's disrespectful. How else are you supposed to tell the readers a character's motives? Through subliminal clues and actually good writing?" Terrick chuckled silently, "Please, this isn't a Stephen King novel." Clementine couldn't help but nod in agreement.

Uriel walks toward the table that sat in the middle of the sanctuary, and picks up a book. The book was black and obviously old due to its decaying material. Ut sit Deus was the book title, coated in crimson red letters. He opened the book, flipped some pages, and smirked.

Uriel focused his attention back on Amaris and Terrick once more. "And then I found it. I found the secrets of life and death itself," Uriel laughed a bit before continuing, "And I found the key to something so amazing, that even now I tremble in excitement."

"The key to what?" Terrick inquired.

Uriel stared at Terrick and a wide and evil smile appeared on his face. "The key to what you ask? The key," he stopped dramatically, "the key for godhood!"

"Yeah, he's insane," Clementine pointed out.

Terrick nodded, "Yeah, this man clearly tripped off some acid."

"With my newfound knowledge, I, Uriel, shall use your lives as the gateway to bring my daughter back to land of the living!" Red magic swirled around him, "And I will use the life-force of all of Yalsuri to make sure I shall never die! With my immortality, my daughter would never feel alone ever again! I shall change the world for her!"

With that, the magic around him exploded outwards, sending the trio to the wall. The door was torn off its hinges, the desk was blasted into smithereens, and the cave walls started failing.

Uriel slowly started approaching the trio. "So tell me, heroes! Do you think you can challenge my necromancy and Chao? Do you honestly think you mere mortals beat two gods? You think you can defy chaos!?"

Slowly, Amaris got up. "You're a madman!" he yelled. Following suit, Clementine and Terrick also rose. The trio got ready, as Terrick and Amaris summoned their Sosu and Clementine got her spells ready.

This will be a fight that would prove to be difficult, as the forces of the dead and chaos are working against them.

Neither of their victories are guaranteed in this battle.

The only thing known for sure, is that one of them won't be leaving.

Terrick prayed to Ordo that they all survived.
