Chapter Four

Ava, Anna , Blake , Tyler , Bella and her little brother Jason waited patiently in her living room as they waited for Mel to invite them over to her house. She was supposedly setting up what she had to show them.

"What do you think she's going to say?" Anna asked, turning too Bella who looked deep in thought.

"I have no clue." Bella replied, absentmindedly .

Everyone apart from James and Ava remained quiet. Caught up i their own thoughts. James and Ava started making out, making Bella scoff in disgust.

The deafening silence was soon cut short by the ringing of Bella's phone. It was Mel calling. She quickly picked up the call.

"Come." Mel had said, ending the call before Bella could reply.

"Let's go." Bella said to them quietly.

They all stood up, exiting the house one after the other. Bella quickly released her dog, max so he could guard the house. The ruffled his hair hugging him softly.

"We'll be back okay?"

He licked her hand in reply.

"Good boy." She said, smiling softly before limping behind her friends. Her leg still hurt badly form the incident in school.

Tyler wrapped his arm around her form, cautiously helping her walk.

"Turn back now." A creepy voice startled them.

Anna screamed, holding her hands to her chest while the rest loooked around in fear and panic.

Bella could see the approaching form of someone. She held tightly onto Tyler's shirt. All of them were frozen, their heart rate speeding up.

"Turn back now. It can't hurt you if you've not opened yourself up to it."

Bella could now recognize the owner of the voice. Mr Wilson, their creepy old neighbor who never talked to anyone. It didn't make her any less scared though. She'd been creeped out by him ever since she could remember.

Ava scoffed in seeing it was just an old man. She crossed her arms over her chest, rolling her eyes.

"What do you want old man?" She asked rudely , looking bored of the situation.

Mr. Wilson didn't reply her, his eyes were solely on bella, creeping so close to her he was in her breathing space.

She tried to pry his arms away from her but he wasn't having it.

"Don't let it get to you. You can't save her. It already has her. Turn back now. It's too late for her."

Tyler pushed him back, protecting his girlfriend.

"It's only using her to get to you. A pure soul. Her soul is filled with envy. It's not pure. It wants you. Don't.."

He was cut off by james pushing him back, making his shaky form fall to the ground.

"Fuck off old man."

Mr. Wilson shook his head, shakily standing up. He turned his back to them.

"You've been warned. Leave while you still can." He said before walking away.

Bella was shaken up by the event that just occurred. What was he trying to tell them. She couldn't understand. Was he just being crazy?

"Bella? Are you okay?" Tyler asked worridly, wrapping his arms tightly around her.

"What did he mean?" She asked, still trying to connect the dots.

"Oh c'mon. Are you really gonna listen to anything that sad sack had to say. C'mon, let's go hear May's story." Ava said, walking away, dragging James with her.

"It's Mel." Bella corected quietly, shaking her head as she tried to understand what just happened.

"You okay?" Tyler asked again

"Yeah, yeah. Let's just go." She said, holding Jason's hand. He had been quiet all through the event. Totally confused about what was going on. All he knew was that Mel accidentally hurt his sister and they were going to listen to her explanation.

They all stood at the front door, watching as Ava knocked loudly. The door creaked open immediately.

Ava pushed it open

"Okay mavis, what's your..." she started but stopped mid-sentence.

There was no one there. Who had then opened the door?

Confusion was all on their faces.

Ava slowly walked in, James following behind.

"Hello? Anybody home?" She called out as they all carefully walked in, Jason closing the door behind them.

"Hello?" Ava called out again.

They all slowly walked around, stopping at the dinning room in shock.

"What the..." James started, his words getting caught up in his throat.

On the table, lighted candles were placed to form a semi circle.

In the middle was some sort of symbol they could not understand. A triangle with an eye crossed over was painted in red. Under it was the Ouija board.

Ava's face contorted into confusion as she voiced out her thoughts,

"What kind of creepy shit is this?"

"It's my creepy shit." Mel's voice sounded from behind them.

They all turned back in shock, Bella almost losing her balance but was caught by Tyler.

"Mel. What is this? What's going on?" Bella asked, completely confused by what she saw on the table.

"I promised to show you something. Please take your seats." She said, already sitting at the edge of the table.

The all reluctantly took their seats, Anna holding onto Blake's hand for support. She was two sencinds away from running out of there with her tail between her legs.

Mel placed her hands on the tear shaped object, requesting for them to do the same.

"I don't want to.." Anna timidly started but was caught off by Mel's booming voice.

"DO IT."

Before she even knew what she was doing her hands were already on the board.

They all reluctantly put their hands on the board.

"Is there anybody here who wants to communicate with us?"

Mel asked calmly , looking around the room.

"Mel what is this?" Bella asked skeptically.

"Be patient." She replied.

Suddenly, the board moved to "yes".

They're eyes shone in astonishment.

They tried removing their hands but they couldn't.

"What the fuck? What kind of sick game is this?" Ava asked, fear consuming her while being just like the rest of them.

"Let us go."

"What's happening?"

They all started panicking, as they tried to get their hands free.

"Don't fight it. It'll be over soon. Just a little more." She said, smiling creepily at them.

"No. No. I'm not playing your game. I..."  Ava started once again.

"I don't like your attitude. Shut up." Mel calmly stated, continuing with her mission.

"What do you want?" Mel asked, looking up.

The object started moving once again.

'M'

'Y'

'S'

'O'

'U'

'L'

It spelt out.

"As you wish." Mel replied calmly.

"Enough Mel." Bella cries out.

"Indeed. It is." She replied, smiling coyly.

"They all pulled their hands away, sighing with relief.

"What was that!" Blake voiced out for the first time.

"Your death sentence." Mel replied.

"What? What do you....?"

He was cut off by Mel clapping her hands.

The candles went off, and so did the lights.

They were all in panic, reaching for their phones to turn on the light but all their phones were turned off. They couldn't understand what was going on. They just wanted to leave.

"Mel. Please. What's going on? " Bella cried out, standing up and trying to reach for her.

"It's time to play."

A booming echoing vice said.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh" Ava's deafening scream sent fear straight into their hearts.

The lights turned back on.

Their voices were caught in their throats at the sight they were met with.

In front of them, Ava's lifeless body was afloat. There was no blood dripping.

Her mouth was sewed shut, eyes open and pitch black just like Mel's parents.

"Ava!!!" Anna screamed out, already sobbing.

Ava body dropped to the ground, making a loud thud.

Jason gripped Bella's hand tightly, tears rolling down his eyes. "I want to go home. Please take me home Bella."

Bella wrapped her arms around him, closing his eyes so he would stop looking at Ava's lifeless form. Tears coated her vision. Tyler and Blake stood, mouth agape.

"Fuck this. I'm getting outta here." James said, running to the front door only to discover there was no front door any more. Just an endless array of walls.

"You can't ever leave." The chilling voice echoed round the house again.

It's laughter filling their hearts with dread.

Anna held onto her sister's body, sobbing as Tyler's and Blake watched the unbelievable scene before their very eyes.

Bella looked away, cradling Jason by her side.

While James repeatedly ponded on the wall, calling for help, as his body shook in fear.

They had signed their death warrant. There was no escaping.
