Chapter Three

It had been three days after Mel's parents funeral. She happily communicated with her parents for two days, keeping it a secret from Bella. But yesterday, her parents seemed demanding. Impatient for what they had asked of her.

She couldn't understand why. She had asked them to relax, but this just seemed to fuel their anger, closing all the windows with full force. She had been shaken up by the incident, quickly agreeing to her parents demands to do it as soon as possible.

She thought over the incidents of the previous day as she got ready for school beside Bella. She turned to Bella who gave her an encouraging smile, before turning back to her vanity to do her make up. She wanted to tell Bella all of it, but her parents had told her to keep it a secret until she had done what they asked.

"Let's go. Take a key for the front door. You know my parents are going out of town today so we have to have our own keys." Bella said to her, picking up her bag and walking out the door.

Mel picked the key, following closely behind.

Bella knocked on Jason's door, but he answered form downstairs.

"I'm ready." He shouted from somewhere downstairs.

Bella and Mel walked to the kitchen, finding her parents and brother eating breakfast already.

"Morning guys." They both said at the same time.

"Morning." Replied, Bella's parents.

They both picked up a plate, stacking it up with  pancakes and sitting beside each other.

"So... You all know we're going out of town today " Bella's mom started while Bella replied with a 'mmh'

"We'll be back maybe tomorrow or the next."

Bella nodded.

"Now I want you guys to.." Her father started but she cut him off.

"Yeah yeah. I know. We'll take care of the house."

"Don't cut your father off like that. That's rude. I did not raise you up like..." Her mother started but was cut off mid sentence by Bella as she stood up and angrily left the table, mumbling a "let's get out of here guys."

Jason and Mel awkwardly stood up and left their parents, her mother distraught while her father had on a neutral expression.

After dropping Jason off at his school, bella drove quietly to theirs. When she parked the car, she sighed, unbuckling her seatbelt and preparing to open her doors but was stopped by Mel holding onto her hands.

"You have to forgive him Bella. You're only hurting yourself by keeping this grudge. Your mom has forgiven him and look...."

"No Mel. I can't ever forgive him. He'll never change." She whispered, tears building up in her eyes.

She first found out her father was cheating when she was ten years old. She had just come from Mel's house, looking for her parents, she opened up their room. The sight she was met with was one that would forever be engraved in her mind.

He told her not to tell her mom after getting dressed, promising never to do it again.

She was skeptical, but agreed after he persuaded her.

Three years later she had found texts he had been sending some woman. Worst part was, it was the same woman. She could never forget her face.

She didn't wait to confront her dad. She went straight to her mom and told her everything. But her mother remained quiet. She knew what her dad was doing, yet she said nothing. She didn't fight for her respect.

"Bella." Mel's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Can we talk about this some other time? I'm really not in the mood." Bella said, already picking up her bag and leaving the car.

Mel stared at her best friend, wishing she would let it go and forgive her father. She sighed, picked up her bag and walked to their first class with Bella.

————————

As Ms. Walker, the history teacher droned on and on about the civil war, Mel tried not to fall asleep. She didn't sleep well the previous night. She kept twisting and turning for some reason.

She tried to keep awake but sleep engulfed her.

—————————

She woke up, dressed up in a white flowing gown that stopped at her ankles. She looked around her. It seems it was evening for it looked a little dark. Mist covered the whole area so she could barely make out anything.

She walked on and on until she spotted a wooden shed. On getting closer, she realized it was Mr. Wilson's shed, but their houses were no where to be found. She felt water drop on her cheeks and at that moment it started raining heavily.

She had no choice but to go into the shed. It was a storm. She tried to open the door but it was locked.

"Hello? Please open up." She shouted over the heavy noise of the rain.

"You have to leave now, or you can never go back." She heard her mother's voice from inside.

"Mom? Please open up. I miss you guys so much. I need to see you." She cried out, knocking even louder.

She turned back to find the woods closer that it has ever been. If she reached out she would touch the dead trees. She could see shadowy figures emerge form it. Fear creeped into her heart. She started pounding loudly on the door. Begging for help from her mother.

"I am not your mother. But if you give me a soul of my choosing, I will take you to her. "

A booming, echoing voice replied, sending chills down her spine. She looked behind her again, discovering the shadowy figures had drawn closer. Her heart leapt from her chest.

"What do you want from me?" She cried out, shaking in fear.

"A soul. Accept, and I shall open this door for you, and it may never be closed."

"Please. I don't know what you're talking about. Open up." She cried out as hundreds of black fingers reached for her. She screamed, tears falling down her eyes as her form shook.

"Fine. Fine. I accept. Please let me in."

As she said these words, all the figures disappeared and she was suddenly inside the house.

She breathed a sigh of relief which turned into an ear piercing scream as she turned to face the most gruesome looking thing she had ever encountered.

"You're mine."

————————

Everyone in the classroom turned to face Mel as she screamed in her sleep.

Bella's eyes widened. She quickly ran to help her friend. As she held her shoulder she was whipped back into a wall. Flying across  the classroom in full force.

The class had turned into chaos by now, some students running out of the classroom, some crouching while some sat rotted to their seats in shock.

Mel opened her eyes, stretching before turning to everyone to find the class in a messed up state.

"What happened?" She asked in confusion.

——————————

Bella was taken to the nurses office after the incident in their history class. Nothing was broken but she did sprain her ankles. It was to heal in about a week or two.

Bella thanked the nurse, heading to the cafeteria with Anna since it was lunch time. She had refused to go with Mel. She couldn't understand what had happened. How Mel had flung her across the room in her sleep.

"How is that even possible?" She voiced out her thoughts to Anna.

"Maybe she was having a bad dream and just reacted vastly to your touch." Anna said, knowing it didn't actually make sense. But there was no other explanation to give. She had not been there so she couldn't form a coherent hypothesis.

"She wasn't even awake then. I don't know. It just doesn't make sense. I don't even wanna think about it anymore."

They bought their lunch, taking it to their usual table. Ava was there already with her new boy toy. James thirwall. Bella groaned internally as she sat down, greeting Ava and ignoring his existence.

Soon enough Tyler arrived with his best friend blake. Tyler sitting beside her, asking if she was okay, while Blake sat beside Anna. Red coated both their cheeks as they shyly greeted each other.

They all exchanged greetings before Ava asked what was all on their minds.

"Okay. Let's not pretend that there isn't an issue here. Everyone heard what happened during your history class today Bella. I need a fucking explanation. 'Cause the shit I heard, makes zero sense."

"I have no explanation to give. I have no idea what happened. One second I was running to help her and then the next I was flying across the room."

Tyler wrapped his arms around her shoulder, kissing the side of her head lightly.

"You don't have to talk about it right now." He whispered to her.

"Oh no way. I want an explanation." The annoying, child like voice of James thirwall said, hands on the table, staring at Bella.

"You want an explanation. I'll give you an explanation." Mel's voice said from behind Blake.

They all turned to her, shocked by her presence.

"What?" Bella asked in confusion.

"This night. My house . Yes, my house. All of you. I have something important to tell you."

Mel said, looking dead serious.

"Well why can't you tell us now. Or at Bella's house. Why your house?" Ava asked.

"I have to show you. I can only show you at my house. You in?"

They all nodded, looking at her skeptically as she walked out of the cafeteria. Bella's brow furrowed. She didn't know what was going in with her best friend, but she intended to find out as soon as possible.
