Chapter 60

"It's a little funny." Lucas began to monologue to himself as he blocked Amay's heavy kick with his left forearm. "The more I do this the more I realize what I'm capable of doing."

He pulled back his right arm as electricity began to dance around it. As he tried to touch her with it, Amay used the palm of her right hand to force him back hard in his chest. Lucas could feel his body forcefully jerk back and stumbled to get his baring. Using his left arm to hold the area she hit, he began to breath heavily while looking at her.

"This pain. The feeling in my heart. How my muscles tense. How I can feel my own blood pumpin," Lucas continued to himself. He chuckled a little as he saw a smile come across Amay's face. "This adrenaline that's mixing with my excitement. I feel so...." Lucas voice trailed off as he he charged towards Amay.

"Alive."

As their fist nearly connected, they both stopped as they heard a car door slammed. They both looked at each other for a moment. Lucas noticing how Amay's eyes seem to pulsate with excitement, before moving over to look past him. Their eyes met again as both silently pulled back with a smile on their face. They studied each other for a moment as their chest equally moved up and down from their heavy breathing.

"LuLu!" Elizabeth voice filled both of their ears as they turned to face her.

Before Lucas could fully turn around, he saw a blur of silver hair and arms wrap around him. As he tried to fight it the figure brought him to their chest and began to swing back and forward.

"My poor baby. I'm sorry for not calling you all week. I tired my best to hurry with my work, but we had to wait on traffic, and a lot of things slipped my mind." Elizabeth sprouted to Lucas who was struggling to breath as she sprouted to him.

"Mom. Mom," Lucas began to beg as he found himself starting to suffocate from his mom squeezing him against her chest. He forgot how tight of a hugger she was. He could feel her tears hit his head as she began to sob over him. A sigh left Lucas mouth as he just allowed her to hug him and went with it. "This is so embarrassing." He said with a low chuckle.

"You think..I'm embarrassing." Elizabeth said suddenly stopping to look Lucas in his eyes.

Lucas looked her in her big watery puppy dog eyes. He could see her makeup starting to run as she felt a little hurt by his words. "Mom, you know you're not." Lucas said hugging her back. He could feel her arms wrap back around him as she placed him over her heart and held his head.

"I know sweetheart. I know." Elizabeth softly spoke to him as a smile layed across her face. She held him for a good moment as she badly didn't want to let him go.

"Uh. Mom." Lucas said feeling Amay smirking behind him.

"Just a few more seconds." Elizabeth said almost tightening her grip. She could feel her son go limp as he gave in to her. She chuckled a little as she let him go and looked at his red embarrassed face. She couldn't help pinch his cheek as she saw her little man standing before her. "My little baby's getting old." She said playfully.

"Mom."Lucas said feeling even more embarrassed. He then touched her hand with his right hand. He watched as his mom pulled her hand back in surprise.

"You shock me." She said in disbelief at what just happened.

"Yeah. I found out I could do that." He happily told her.

"When and How?"

"Today and when Amay choked me out."

"WHAT!?" Elizabeth said fully shocked by this. Her eyes glared at her former partner who had a big smirk on her face.

"He wanted me to be his sparing partner." Amay said as her only defense.

"Hmm fine." Elizabeth said annoyed by fine with it. "As long as you weren't to tough on him."

"I wasn't...too rough with him." Amay said while raising her shoulders in a shrug.

"Anyway, Sweetheart? Would you be a dear and give me a count of all the supplies we are low in the house on. I'm thinking we go out for our usual supply run today."Elizabeth asked him with a soft smile.

"Oh, I thought you would ask that. I got the list already made," Lucas said with a bigger smile. "Let me go get changed, and I will grab the list." He told her before running off to do what he said.

"Thank you sweetie," Elizabeth told him as she watched him run off. A long sigh left her mouth as she watched to make sure her son was out of ear shoot. She could feel Amay's eyes look at her as the area around them grew to an eerily quiet tension. "How was he?" she said in a more serious and worried tone as she turned around to face her former friend.

"He was fine. It was fun and somewhat dull." Amay said in a causal tone. She didn't want to tell Elizabeth about sleeping with her son or kissing him as it was none of her business to know in the first place. "He's a quick learner," she added in.

A soft chuckle left Elizabeth mouth as she thought about the little shock he gave her. "He gets that from me and his father. But that's good. " She said finding it hard to look her friend in her eyes.

"Did you have fun on your mission?" Amay asked crossing her arms.

"It was interesting to say the least. I ran into Henrietta Dumont." Elizabeth said with a smile.

"Ha. How's that spoiled brat doing?" Amay remembering the girl when she was complaining a lot. "Don't tell me. I want to be surprised when I see her again." A big smile came across Amay's face.

"Yeah." Elizabeth shared a smile with her. Her face then turned into a low frown. "Amay...I want to tell you something." She said as her chest began to feel tight not sure how this would go.

"You know I don't want to talk about it." Amay quickly said as she though she knew what Elizabeth was going to talk about. She began to hold her shoulders for a moment as she was becoming uncomfortable with her.

"No. Not that." Elizabeth said holding out both hands before catching herself. "I went to Japan and got you something."

"Oh?" Amay said a little surprise.

"I know things have been tough between us, but I still care about you.....I"Elizabeth caught herself before she could say the wrong thing. She then sighed for a moment. "Pink is still your favorite color, right?"

"I'm surprise you still knew," Amay said a little shock and bitter. She hesitated for a moment. "But yeah. It is."

"That's good. It was a pain to gather the material, but I did my best to get it for you. If you want it now, I will gladly give it to you. However, I can hold onto it if you want me too." Elizabeth said feeling her chest tightening more as she could feel her guilt growing.

"No. I will keep it." Amay said avoiding eye contact with Elizabeth as she rubbed her left arm a little. "Than-Thank you." she hesitated to say.

Elizabeth's eyes went wide and tears began to form in her eyes. She brought her hands to her face for a moment. Even though this might seem small this small jester ment so much to her. She quickly wiped her tears from her eyes as she cleared her throat for a moment. "Don't mention it," She said in a broken voice.

"Can I...can I hug you?" Elizabeth hesitated asked her friend.

Amay avoid looking at Elizabeth as she nodded her head. She watched as Elizabeth slowly approached her.

Elizabeth watched as Amay slowly began to shake and jump a little as her hands went around her. She let Amay's arms wrap around her waist as she turned her head to rest on her. Elizabeth could feel her hands began to shake as she touched her short friend.

It had been long time, since Elizabeth was allowed to touch her friend ever since she was awaken and found out about everything. It was the first time they didn't break into a big argument or said hurtful words to each. What surprise and shocked her the most was how much Amay was shaking in her hands.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry for doing what I did to you. I wish there was another way. I wish I was stronger to have help you." Elizabeth wished she could tell her friend. With all her great power and accomplishments, the hardest part she could ever do was holding back her tears for Amay.

"She's so warm," Amay told herself as she wanted to bury her head in Elizabeth stomach. A guilty sensation filled her chest and throat as she held onto her. As she held her more, Amay couldn't help but feel mix emotions for her. She was glad she still cared about her, but she felt this resentment and anger towards Elizabeth. As if she couldn't let go of what she did to her.

They stood there for a good moment taking in each either. Even with their different thoughts and regrets, they both knew they each needed this. This peacefully moment came to an end when Elizabeth placed a hand on the back of Amay's head. This sudden touch caused Amay to pull away and stare at Elizabeth with fear in her eyes.

"Don't..Don't do that." Amay told her with a straight face.

"Oh. Sorry. I just-" Elizabeth said trying to get closer.

"Just stop." Amay said balling up her fist as she turned away from Elizabeth. "I have to go."

She told her as she walked past Elizabeth before she could say a word. As she was halfway to the house she stopped to wipe a tear from her eyes.

A long sigh left Elizabeth mouth as she looked up to the sky. "I did what I had to do," she lied to herself again.
