Chapter 70

As her body laid there lifelessly on the ground, a pair of hands slowly began to touch and caress her cold skin. Her head slowly turned until she was facing upwards nearly face to face with the figure that hunted her every waking moment. A soft sound left her mouth as she looked up to see the boy crying over Amay's body.

"He cares about you." Her soft voice filled the cave as she turned her head to look at the scared Amay.

Amay stood there looking at her own body and then Lucas trying his best to bring her back. She had a sumber look on her face at the realization of what happened, but hearing and seeing the figure touching her while so close to the Lucas made her skin crawl. She could feel her hands began to shake as she was essentially stuck with her until her crystal kick started itself. This wouldn't happen until a few more minutes, til then it was just her and this demon.

"It was surprising you allowed yourself to be taken down by that insect. You've really let yourself go." The figure said slowly walking to Amay. She nearly loomed over Amay by a few feet. Her eyes took in every detail of the all the way to her nervous shake and avoiding her eye contact. She placed a warm shadowy finger under the girl's chin, and guided her head until Amay's red viper like eyes met her similar but chaotic ones.

Amay flinched from the touch of the looming figure and pulled her head away from her. She refused to look at the figure and muttered a few words. "You're not real. You're just my imagination given form. "

"Am I? It really doesn't matter if I'm real or not as long as your pushing me away, I will always be in the corner of your mind." She spoke while she moved Amay's loose hair behind her ear. "Why do you push me away?"

"YOU KNOW WHY!!" Amay lashed out as she tried to attack the figure, but her body went directly through hers. As she landed on the ground, her ears twitched as she could hear the soft giggling from the figure.

"How many times have you tried that already?" She asked her while at the same time her dark body reformed itself. Her eyes looked down at the young girl with a looming presence. "I can offer you so much more. Power to destroy those that try to stand in your way. The ability to heal any injury your enemies give you. And that's just a taste." She offered the girl.

"Why...." Amay asked her as her hands began to ball up into fist. "Why do you torment me?"

"Because a part of me is apart of you." The figure said as she moved closer to Amay. She brought her hand out as she tried to touch Amay's head. "Will you not embrace me?" she asked the girl once more. As her fingers got closer to Amay's head, part of Amay's hair began to turn a pitch black.

Amay could feel her body began to relax and become soothed by the figure's presence as her touch drew in closer and closer. Until the felt the figure stop.

A low rumble left the figure's mouth as she pulled back. "It seems we are out of time once again." She said with a long sigh as her body began to fade back into the shadows.

Back in the current moment, Lucas took a deep breathe as he wiped his tears and placed his hand over Amay's wound. His hands constantly started to shake as he tried to focus, but his mind wouldn't allow him.

"I need to use the spell she taught me." Lucas began to talk to himself as he remembered what his mom taught him before they fully left. However, his mind couldn't let him. The moment he looked down at the blood on his hands and the hole in Amay, he felt an unnerving nauseating sensation come over him. He pulled himself away from looking at her and began to beat his fist to the ground.

"Damnit. Damnit." Lucas in a whimper as had given up and beat on himself. "I can't do this. What the hell was I thinking. Why did I agree to this. What am I going to do." Lucas said as he began to loose it. He was cold, wet, badly hurt, and now alone in a cave with a body. He was alone with no where to go and his mom and sister so far from him. He just wanted to give up, so he laid down on the cold dirt ground balled up like a child not fully sure on what to do next.

A sudden warm light began to envelop him along with most of the inside of the cave. This caused him to raise his head up and look back towards the source. Through his red teary eyes, Lucas was shocked to see Amay's chest began to glow as the light engulfed her body completely.

He watched as her body began to levitate off of the ground by a few inches. The wound in her stomach began to heal along with her spine connecting back to normal. Her eyes went wide as the light escaped it and her mouth. The cave became warm from the heat that was let off from this experience as Amay's body gently landed back on the ground.

Lucas, while on his knees, crawled over to Amay's body. His eyes began to dart back and forward as he saw the wounds she had was completely gone. She was warm to the touch and he saw her chest slowly began to rise and fall. While her hair was still white and dirty, she had a single black strain of hair down one part of it.

"....." Lucas was just left stunned and speechless at what he just experienced. He slowly moved his hands towards Amay in disbelief and touched her. His heart nearly skipped a beat as he gasped and heard her groan. "Amay?" He said in a scared low voice as his throat was rasp from his crying.

As she opened her eyes, her vision was a little blurry. She tried to focus for a moment as everything started to become clear for her and she was met with the messy face of a stunned Lucas. A soft smile curved across her lips as she tried to sit up.

"You need to stop crying so much." She said in a weak voice, before she was tightly hugged by a scared Lucas. She groaned a little from the pain of being tightly hug, and while she didn't like them, she could understand why he was doing it.

"Amay. I'm so sorry I got you killed. I'm so so sorry for not being strong enough. I'm so sorry." Lucas said as tears of joy and his own overwhelming emotions kicked in.

"It's okay. It's okay." She said slightly giggling, but was tired of him crying so much. She then realized how cold and wet he was. And started to push him back a little. "That's enough. By the Serpents, don't send me back again. Besides I'm still weak."

"Oh sorry." Lucas said as he pulled back sniffling and wiping his tears. "I'm just overwhelmed. I thought you were dead just now."

"I was." Amay weakly said as she sat fully up. She began to shiver badly as she realized how cold it had gotten and how wet her clothes was as well. She started to undo her kimono as she needed to get out of these wet clothes. "Why are my clothes wet and why are you wet as well?"

"Wait, you were actually dead?" Lucas asked as his heart began to drop as he did kill her. "Oh my God." He said about to start up again.

"Stop that. You didn't kill me. Exactly." Amay said before letting out a deep sigh. "What the fuck did I come back to."she whispered to herself as she continued to undress.

"I don't understand." Lucas told her visible confused. He said watching her undress before him. "Why are you doing that as well?"

"Okay. Look." Amay stopped to look at him. "I will explain in a moment, but we need to get out of these wet clothes. Especially you. With these wet clothes and the dropping temperature, we are going to die if we don't remove them. After we do that and get a fire going. I will gladly answer any questions you have. Okay?"

"Oh. Okay then." Lucas said as he began to undress as well.

"Thank you," Amay frustratingly said. As she act a little from the soreness in her stomach and throughout her body. "If you can gather some of these dry twigs and stuff. I will put us a small fire on."

"Okay then." Lucas said still a little confused, but still guilty from everything he just dealt with. He raised to his feet and began to limp a little as he painstakingly went around gathering up some dry wood.

As she watched him get up, Amay noticed all the injuries on his body from his arm, to his finger nails, to the visible cuts and bruises, the look in his eyes, and the faint wounds on his face. Her memories of the last few hours began to come back as she realized all the hell he must have went through to get them to this cave. A deep frown came across her face as her own heart became heavy.

"Hey Lucas. " She called out him.

"Yeah?" He said coming back with a few sticks he managed to find and carry.

"Thank you." She told him with a weak smile.

With everything that happened to him and all the problems that still plagued his mind, these simple two words made all of those issues fade away for the time being. His frown turned into a small smile as he just gave her a nod. "Don't mention it."
