2000

LIZ had just gotten back from work. It was hectic today, because election proceedings were going on and the news directors made their workers busy.

She was glad she was only a weather caster and didn't have to go to the government house three times today. But, she was very busy as she worked till the evening. All her body were aching, it was high time she took a leave again from work.

She opened the door and set the key on the table, jamming the door. "Spencer, honey!" She called out as she walked to the room.

She found out Spencer wasn't at home through the letter he wrote, telling her he was at the grocery store.

Picking the letter from untop the bed, she smiled and dropped it back. he must have tried calling me but I was so busy today, I didn't see his calls, she thought.

She took the liberty of having a long bathe before dashing to the bed to rest.

The bathe was really long. She wore a pink loose gown after bathing.

She heard a faint knock on the door and wondered who it was. It wasn't Spencer, because he'll easily open the door, she walked to the parlour.

"Greg"

"Hey"

"Come on in"

"How are you and the family?"

"Very well, thank you"

"I see..."

"Lemme get us some drinks, I'll be back" she dashed into the kitchen.

Greg wondered what made Liz look extraordinarily beautiful this evening with her fat cheek bones and swollen arms and legs.

He admired her; "so how's work?"

"Oh works fine. Just a little hectic today" she replied him, becoming nervous. She really didn't like the idea of them alone in the house.

"Oh really?"

"We had so much work to be done and I came back a little bit late than my usual time. Not a big deal" she explained.

"Do you still paint?" He chipped in.

"There's no room for that anymore" she was really nervous; "I'm married Greg. Everything is different now"

"I wish it was the same" he was hurt.

"It can't be" she knew that look in his eyes. Love. Greg stood up and walked towards the open curtain and Liz followed behind. "Greg, I'm pregnant"

"I'm happy for you"

Liz could see everything. She held his hands and said; "you could still move on. Meghan is there for you" she suggested.

He backed off; "no way I'm doing that"

"Greg?"

"She's a low life. She's jealous of you for no just cause and wants revenge"

"My sister?" Liz asked in surprise.

"You've gotta believe me Liz, I'm your friend and I won't lie to you" Greg confessed.

"-" Liz stood shocked.

"What would I gain if I lied about Meghan to you?" Greg asked.

"I don't believe Meghan can do a thing like that" Liz simply said.

"Liz, she's jealous of you"

"Jealous of me?!"

"Everybody knows your missing. The whole school. The school chancellor announced it. The next thing I see, she barges into my room and starts asking me random questions about your whereabout as if I'm a suspect"

"No Greg. You're my friend. She only thought you'd know where I was"

"The way she sounded wasn't as if she cared"

"And how do you know that?"

"Believe me Liz"

"Just don't tell her where I am" she said sitting down, then after a long sigh, continued thus; "I've failed her enough, she's disappointed in me. I just don't want to hurt her anymore. Let her be without me"

Greg wished he could make Liz understand how Meghan felt about her. But, he had tried, he had opened up to her and she still didn't want to believe him. Liz was too good to suffer what her sister was planning for her. "It's more than what you think Liz. Meghan's a beast" Greg continued.

"Greg, I understand if you don't like her but, it's only normal for her to act in that way. She's my sister, I would do the same if she where to be in my shoes. Just promise me Greg that you won't tell her or anybody where I am" Liz pleaded.

"I promise Liz. You can count on me" he said.

Even if Liz didn't plead to him, he'd never tell that jealous slug where Liz was.
