He had grey, shiny eyes that could stop one's heart, a sharp jawline that could cut one's throat, the dreadlocks he ruggedly sported emphasized the beauty of his dark, chocolate skin, and his long, narrow nose and plump lips were just an appetizer to appease the livid hunger.
The clothes he wore were large, scrambled, and rumpled and they effectively succeeded in hiding his lean, lengthy, muscled, and large limbs that had the physique of a strong warrior.
When he later opened his mouth to bring out a loud, throaty chuckle, his milky, white teeth shone and it was sure that they could make one go blind from the refinement it depicted.
Both Xavier and Ren furrowed their eyebrows almost at the same time, looking at each other in confusion when the Loner barked out a dark chuckle.
"What provoked your laugh?" Ren finally blurted when he couldn't stand the excessive chuckles anymore.
"I knew it!! I just knew it!!" Kider glowered with a distinct accent to his tone while stepping towards the alpha.
"Knew what?" voiced out Ren with a stern look, his instincts being on alert as the Loner stepped towards his Alpha.
"The power of the Makabad Crystal, I felt it the moment I smelt you, Alpha. Why else do you think I shut down all the traps I painfully set up myself?" He stood up straight and tapped his foot to make the sound coming out of his brown ankle boots, resonate around the cave.
"I am here to inquire about something. It concerns the safety of the Pack and my future" Xavier said, ignoring the Loner and returned the Crystal to its original position.
"Let's leave that for a minute, young fella. You called yourself the last ruler of the Crystal, what makes you so confident that you are the one?" Kider posed a daring question to the Alpha.
"Watch your-" a hand was raised by the Alpha to his Beta and he shut his mouth with a bow.
"What makes you think I'm not?" The Alpha threw the question back at the loner.
"Several decades passed ever since we took care of the Crystal and not a single king was able to even come close to the Crystal because it rejected them all but when I was born, it lit up and rose from its position, and ever since, it has been a dutiful protector to me. So tell me, what makes you think I'm not the last ruler?" Xavier tilted his head while resting his hand on his pocket with his ever-popular nonchalant expression on his countenance.
"Well spoken words but very little knowledge behind it, Alpha. To be able to possess the Crystal and be deemed the Master of Makabad, you should have received the consent and blessings of all five realms who created it. By now, you should have had the powers of the Crystal, the ability to form into any animal of your choice, the power to manoeuvre your body temperature the way you pleased, the capability to breathe underwater, the will to be able to fly and the possession of magic but sadly, I don't think you have any of those, Alpha" Kider slowly circled Xavier as he listed out all the items to become the Master of Makabad.
"Instead you hide the Crystal behind your shirt as though you are scared it would be taken away from you. The other realms aren't even aware of the existence of the Crystal as of now. They believe when Sacred Heart vanished from the surface, it perished along with it so I ask you this question again, what makes you think you are the Master of Makabad?" Kider stopped in front of Xavier and looked him in the eye without a single hint of fear.
Xavier stood, looking at Kider with a blank expression, his head reeling with several unspeakable thoughts. A few minutes should have passed but no one dared utter a word.
The Alpha and The Loner were having a silent eye contest and the Beta was left in between, wondering whether he should interrupt or just find a drink and sit down to watch the duo speak through their eyes.
"Umm...Are you guys just having an eye battle or are you speaking through the mind link which is impossible because that can't be constructed in a few minutes, right?" Ren, as usual, spat nonsense and received a look of disbelief from the other two.
"If Xavier isn't the last ruler, then who is?" Ren asked a question and for once, Kider was impressed with what came out of the mouth of the talking rabbit.
"Nice question there, rabbit. Who is the true ruler of the Crystal?" Kider asked out loud and Ren gave him a glare to which he ignored.
"Have you guys ever heard of 'mwisho atakuwa mkuu kuliko yule wa kwanza'? It's a traditional phrase from East Africa that means 'The latter shall be greater than the former'" Kider went and leaned on a nearby table which was filled with dust and rusted irons.
"What do you mean by that?" Xavier asked, his patience slowly running thin.
"Think, Alpha. What do I mean?"
"Wait, The latter? Do you mean that Xavier's pup is going to be Master of Makabad?" Ren gasped as he ran his hand through his blonde locks.
"Impressive, rabbit. You're even smarter than you look" Ren went red at the mocking of Kider.
"I am not a rabbit, stop calling me that!" Ren blistered and Kider scoffed.
"Cute"
"As he said, it could be your pup or your pup's pup or even your pup's pup's pup. Who knows? All I am certain about is that you are not the ruler of Makabad. A protector? Yes. A ruler? No. The Crystal needs one to protect it and hand it over to the true ruler"
"Given that it didn't reject your touch and even listens to you then you are the Seer of Makabad. Only you can see the true ruler of the Crystal and until then, you must keep it safe from the evil eye"
Everything began to make sense to Xavier and he nodded his head as he clutched the Crystal in his hands, vowing to protect it no matter what.
"Now, let's discuss. Why have you come looking for me, Great Alpha?"
