Chapter-11: Trials of a Dragon[3]

"You fight so dirty, but effective," Anguis said as I neared the blade on her throat ," you have no honor."

It was night time and we were fighting on a rooftop. I had been trying to asses her CQB skills, and this was her third fight against me, first two she had won. She was good, fast, strong, with a cool head, and most of all, ruthless. She didn't fight for survival but rather for fun.

Paradoxical I know.

"What the fuck is honor? We all fight to survive, and honor comes in between it. We are all killers, if honor helps you to sleep at night then good go for it, but always remember that we have no honor," I said as I retracted the blade and extended my right arm to her. She exhaled and grabbed my arm and with a twist rolled back and lapped her legs around my face.

My face was now being strangled between her thighs.

Any lower being would have loved this.

I patted the ground three times to signal my defeat and she lessened her grip.

"Didn't you say something about honor?", I asked.

Chuckling a bit, she stood up and walked towards the roofs end." Why did you call me here, it wasn't just to show me that you were worthless at combat."

A smile crept at my face.

" Missy, I don't fight, I kill and If I wanted to kill you," I stood up and walked towards a big duffel bag towards the right of the roof, just next to the roof entrance." You would have....," I unzipped the bag and pulled out a Mauser T-Gewehr, a 13.2x92 mm anti-tank rifle and box of 5 bullets and loaded one in,"....died a long time ago."

I bolted the chamber in, and aimed at her.

With an initial velocity of 785m/s there was no chance she would ever dodge this. OR even those mutants that I saw the previous day.

Frozen in one place at the sight of a huge rifle, I could see her puzzled.

"This would be your one and only test, pass this and you would earn not only immunity from the law but also be able to get a license to kill.", my smile faded a bit as I turned serious," and you would be able to join order ignis. Oh yeah you don't know about it right now."

"What do I have to do?"

"Oh nothing much we're just playing tag, all you have to do is find me in the near 5 block area and tag me then you win...."

"that's it?", she asked.

"Nope! This baby here, "I said as I patted the gun and ejecting the cartridge in the chamber of the gun," is gonna be used on ya, all I have are sixteen bullets."

"Two more things, first, if you get hit and are unable to move, you lose and I will kill you, second, if you at any moment back out including now, you lose and I will kill you."

I could see the fear in her eyes, but then a sudden change in her demeanor happened, I could see her became confident- ready for anything. Anguis had take over ,again.

"Ready?" I shouldered the gun and jumped back," The game begins.."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Anguis's perspective)

"Ready?", he shouldered the gun and jumped over ledge to his back as I began running towards him.

When I reached over to the ledge he was gone from there. I walked a little back and began to think.

The 5 block area was all alleyways and apartments, the most problematic thing for a sniper. Also he only had 16 shots, there was no restriction of a time limit so I could just wait out all of-

In the darkness about 50-60 meters ahead I could see-faintly- a silhouette of a person lying down. I jumped towards the right behind the entrance of the roof as I shot whizzed past me.

If I hadn't dodged, the shot would have killed me. He wasn't kidding, he was trying to kill me. I can't die, not now that I had this body. I won't let Riko die, I need power to accomplish what I want and God has given me this chance.

I will win.

I jumped to the fire exit to the right and began making my way down. I then turned right and began to run towards the building the shot had come from. I jumped inside the window of one of the rooms of that building and began to searching for the way up.

Oddly, there was no one in the building itself and when I got up to the roof there was on one there too. Weirdly I felt some one was staring at me from somewhere, that's when it struck me.

It was a trap.

He lured me to his previous position then moved somewhere else in order to have a clear shot at me.

-Bang

I was thrown towards the edge of the building, blood flowing from my head. Everything was spinning around for me, the world threatening to go dark and my body refused to move on my command.

Was this the end? After years of babysitting this girl, was this where I was gonna die?

On a building at night above an alleyway where no one was? Alone? Again?

I could see where the shot had come from, about 100 meters or something towards the direction I had come from. How had he gone the direction towards which I had come from?

I could see him locking the bolt and aiming the rifle.

I could see my end and with a desperate attempt, I pushed my self off the edge.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Ryu Narsuis's Prespective)

"Fuck. I missed." My last shot had barely scraped her head and thrown her off towards the edge and now she threw herself of the edge.

And it all happened because I misjudged the distance.

"Fuck. Why am I such an idiot. Anyways there is no way that she would have survived that drop with a wound on her head." I said.

But what if she did, a thought came in my head, what if she survived and was found and croaked on you.

It couldn't be.

But what if?

I can't take the risk. In about three hours the veil I casted would release itself and then the people would notice her.

I had to make sure that she either was dead or alive.

I jumped towards the fire exit and started to walk towards the back of the building from which she had fallen off.

I slowly crept towards the place on she had fallen and nothing.

Apart from a small pool of blood in the middle of the alley seeping from the trash being mixed with the dirt on the ground. There was nothing, no body, no Anguis.

"Tag", I heard a faint voice as I felt a sharp blade touch my neck.

This girl keeps on impressing me.

I raised my hands and turned around only to have her faint on me.

"Good girl," was all I managed to say to her.
