The Kale witches

Something about the past....

Third person's POV

Amanda Lockwood, the Luna of werewolves at Mysticburgh used to run the packs with her twin sister Nadia Lockwood. Everything falls apart during the war between vampires and werewolf in which many innocents lose their lives and loved ones. The war between the mystic creatures forced another clan to join the bloodbath with a hope to stop it.

The Kale witches were the mysterious and powerful tribes with the only purpose of maintaining balance between the natural and supernatural. The war was calling for its misbalance and Kale witches joined with the werewolves to restore the balance. But every war cost something big or small. Where werewolves paid the bigger price with blood and scars for generation, Kale witches became the sworn enemy to the vampires. Kales were powerful and their way of practicing magic was entirely different from other witches. They worshiped moon and bore the crescent moon as a birthmark on their shoulders.

At present....

When Alan walked towards the table where Sophia was seated holding her phone with her both hand. It seemed to him that she was texting. Alan looked around for the company she mentioned earlier but fails to notice anyone. [Did she send the person away or what?] He thought. As his move forward he noticed Aisha playing with the spoons on the table. He expected Sophia to be with someone but a thought of some child did not cross his mind. He doesn't know Sophia at all or her family. So is she her family, sister, niece, or.... daughter? With a lot of thoughts spooning in his mind, Alan sat on the table opposite to Sophia.

"Ohh... You were really nearby. That was quick", Sophia said with a smile on her face.

"YAA..." Alan replied. He could only focus on the creature sitting beside him and staring him with her wide brown eyes.

"Who are you?" Aisha asked by pointing a finger towards Alan.

["I am thinking same about you"], thought Alan.

Sophia was about to say something when waiter came with their order making Aisha squeal with joy. Aisha was busy with her food and Alan was busy observing Aisha. Sophia on the other hand found it all a bit funny because she knew what was going on Alan's mind. She could ease the poor man's pain if she wanted but decided against it. It was fun for her to watch him in that way and he even cannot ask her anything directly due to lack of appropriate words. Alan was silent. The whole table was silent except Aisha's movements while eating makes some light noises. The whole lunch went with that silence but when waiter came with dessert for Alan and Sophia and ice-cream for Aisha, Sophia decided to break the ice...

"So, you mentioned some family emergency during our conversation earlier. Is everything okay?"

"Yes... Actually it's my brother. He got into some trouble in his school."

"You have a brother. That's nice."

"Cousin.. Actually. And yes he is nice but not for everyone."

"He seems like a tough job."

"You have no idea."

"What's his name?"

"Myran Lockwood."

"So, you are the bigger, responsible one. Right...

"I like to think so."

"So, I was telling you that I need to visit my brother and I will be back in a week so until then you can prepare for your inauguration."

"What?? In a week!!!!! You are kidding me right."

"Not really. But I have to explore and arrange and... It's not possible to do that in a week."

"Don't worry. Mr. Smith will assist you. You name anything you want, you will get it."

"Sophia thought for one minute and replied okay. I would arrange a charitable display of this town heritage for a start. I would need the family to support me in this. In this way we can perform charity and promote the society work."

"Sounds good. Meet you in a week and you too young lady."

Aisha smiled on that for a second and then continued with her ice-cream.

"My lady, what's your name?"

"Aisha Kale."

Aisha's reply made Sophia froze for a moment. She never expected to say the word Kale. She is so young to know what she had said. But Alan... Oh my god.... This is not good.... Sophia didn't even know that Aisha knows her last name. She never said it. She has to think of something real quick. She was about to say something but Alan was first to spoke-

"It's my honor to meet you Ms. Kale. Alan said and gestured for a hand shake."

Aisha shyly smiled and gave her small hands in Alan's large hand making it look too small than it already was. Sophia on the other hand took a breath of relief. [That was really close], she thought.

"I would say she is your niece but you don't share the last name", Alan asked.

"She is my friend's daughter. But she is family."

Alan shook his head in understanding. After spending a bit of moment, it was time to bid good bye for now. Aisha waved bye to Alan and Sophia just watched him go. After that Sophia and Aisha went for some movie and then back home.

When they reached home, Aisha went straight to her room and Sophia decided to prepare some tea. The tea was boiling when Diana came into the kitchen.

"You met that wolf boy", Diana interrogates.

"That wolf boy will be an alpha one day", Sophia snapped back.

"That day is yet to come."

"How do you know that I met him? Sophia raised one eyebrow demanding an answer from Diana. You followed me or your pet has been assigned with some extra job."

"I am only protecting you. That's all."

"Don't take me as a fool darling. You and I, we both know what you were doing. I know you. I can't even demand you to stop being so paranoid because I know you won't."

"Really is that what you think."

"You don't care what I think."

"Neither do you. We are bounded with compulsion, not by choice."

"Indeed". Sophia huffed and asked while pouring tea in cups "Is that all or anything has left?"

"I don't have any desire to fight you. I just want that box on time. I am not ready for all that."

"Diana for you it's war but for me it's beyond everything. And that box will be in our hand in one week. We have the best opportunity. There will be a display of ancient heritages in this town. Antics will be out in open and I will be in-charge."

"But how can you be so sure that the box will be out in open too."

"Because luck is in our favor. Alan is out of the town. He will attend the inauguration directly and I will be in control of everything. And can you imagine the location of venue...

Diana smiled knowing the answer, "The Lockwood's mansion."
