Chapter 10: The Voidssenger and the Kid (1)

"Urghhh... My head hurts. Was it all a dream?" Kyle asked in confusion as rubbing his aching face. He started to slowly remember the events that happened yesterday as he was hoping that all of that was some horrible nightmare, but reality begged to differ when he suddenly struck a table, as he was slowly moving towards the window that would normally be there, if it was his room. Instead, he had to stumble around the room for a couple of minutes before he managed to find a wooden window.

Once he opened the window, he was immediately assaulted with a bright light that nearly caused him to go blind, before managing to adjust to the light and see the lands and building that were in the immediate area.

"Wow..." Kyle couldn't help but marvel at the view that was in front of him and it wasn't until five or so minutes passed, that another thought crossed his mind.

'I guess this is it. This the new world that I have gotten myself in. A world of magic. I would have expected to see people flying at the very least, but I guess this is also good. I don't know how much more I would be able to handle.'

Once he finished his thought, he couldn't help but sigh with a slightly depressed expression, before turning around to have a look at the room of the inn. The room itself was nothing to write home about, just a simple room with a wooden floor, white walls and a couple of essential furniture, such as a bed, a closet, a small table and chair a couple of painting to give a bit of color in the room.

"I guess I have no option but to get information about the area, as well as the world in general." *slap* "Let's go and do this already." Kyle spoke with a slightly refreshed expression after slapping his face with both his hands, before getting up and leaving the room.

"OK, let's not forget the key." Kyle muttered as he made sure that the key to this room was in his pocket, before he heard a male voice saying:

"Don't forget to look good."

"Ah yes, can't look like- OH JESUS!" Kyle answered with a shocked expression, the moment he saw a man with dark purple hair, covered in black clothes, as well as wearing a black blindfold on his face.

"Actually, I'm not Jesus. I'm D." The man in black exclaimed as he sitting on top of the window's edge, before getting down.

"I don't care what I your name is, you either leave from where you came from or I'm calling the cops." Kyle yelled angrily as he was staring at the stranger.

"I don't know if you know this, but there no such thing as the police, in this world. The closest thing to that would be the Guard's Order and even then, don't expect to be seeing any guards saying "Freeze!"." D answered rather casually as he was fixing the position of hat slightly.

At that moment, Kyle couldn't help but curse inwardly as he realised that there may be a lot more differences that he was expecting. In the end, he couldn't help but curse even more before asking with an annoyed expression:

"So, what do you want?"

"What do I want? Eheheh... Hahahahahaha..." At that point, D started laughing maniacally as he quickly dropped to the ground and starting bashing it with a look of hysteria on his face. In the meantime, Kyle was starting to wonder the kind of madman he was going to deal with and the possibility of dying randomly from his whims.

"Ehehehe... Ahhh... My sides... Hahhh... Ow, I haven't had a good laugh in a long while. Dammit kid, you nearly made me feel like dying once again. Anyways, don't worry, I won't be killing you kid. That would be going against the rules, so no worries there. Also, calling me a madman, although accurate, is rather rude." D explained with a bright expression as he was facing the kid.

'Huh? How did he know that he called him a madman? Was he reading my mind?' Kyle thought to himself, before trying to ask:

"Wait, what do you-"

"Shhh... I already know what you are thinking. So yes, I did read your thoughts. Kind of comes with my job, so I can't do much about it. Anyways, you are free to think whatever about me. After all, I don't get to talk with a whole lot of people and I can't remember the last time I spoke with a citizen of a world." D interrupted as he explained in a rather carefree manner.

"OK... I guess... So, what brings you here?" Kyle asked hesitantly as he was feeling like leaving that behind him and run as far away as possible.

"Well, it's a bit of a last minute job, for me at least, but what I have to do is to clean up a lot filth from this world and then call it a day, as well as taking care of any kind of paradox that might have to appear." D answered rather calmly as he sat down on a chair.

"Clean up filth? What do you mean?" Kyle answered with a slightly confused expression.

"Instead of having to sit and explain all of this, just read this panel." D then produced a purple panel that read as such:

[Download has been fully completed.

Initiating story construction: Hopeless Return

Anchor connection has been established

High corruption concentration has been detected]

"What I want you to focus to, is the fourth line. That filth is the corruption that this panel is saying and my job is to clean it up." D explained as he put away the panel.

"Alright, but what about the other three lines?" Kyle asked seriously with a hint of curiosity on his voice

"I can explain some stuff freely, but there is some information that I can't tell you, lest I risk warping your perception of the world." D answered as he looked away slightly.

"Just tell me. At this point, I don't think things can get any worse than dying and be in an other world with nothing to your name." Kyle asked back as he was feeling more curious. Besides, he truly didn't care anymore happened anymore, since the worst thing imaginable for him had already happened.

"Alright, but I'll take no responsibility for your action. You asked this yourself, so you have no one else to be blame, aside from yourself." D answered slightly hesitant, before sighing inwardly and continuing.

"First, for me to access a world, I would need to download the world's information, such as geography maps, creature lists and event timelines to have access to the world, so just think of it as if I just have to download a videogame mostly, but without the future events, quests and story that will happen in the game. Second, anchors are set as humans who have broken through the walls of other worlds, have manipulated or have been involved into the manipulation of the time-space continuum, so we use them as access points to connect into the world and conduct our work. Lastly, story construction are basically a set of events that are fated to happen withing a set period of time, which can range from a few seconds, to centuries, upon centuries, upon centuries. Although the main events are fated to happen, the process of those events can be easily altered with outside interference,so just think of it as the story of a game that can be altered by any outsider of the story."
