Chapter 11: The Voidssenger and the Kid (2)

"Was that information enough for you?" D asked with a calm expression.

"Talking about a mess with a capital M. Alright, I can get the part for the download and the story stuff, since in simple terms, those are the portal to the world and the Akashic Records of the world, but I would like some further elaboration on the anchor and time manipulation stuff." Kyle answered as he was rubbing his head and wondering if it was worth asking anymore.

"Alright, but I'll have to say that I didn't expect you to know the Akashic Record." D commented with a satisfied expression.

"Ehhh... I've played a couple of video games that make use of that, so it isn't exactly a foreign concept for me." Kyle answered back with a proud expression as he lifted his chest up.

"Oh... And here I thought you were into theosophy, sometimes I forget that it can be used in video games and stories as well." D commented slightly depressed before continuing.

"Anyways, back to our previous topic. I should probably elaborate more on the "anchor" term a bit more. Let's start with this: What are the three ways to change history?"

"Uhhh... I guess time traveling is one of them, but I can't think of the other two." Kyle answered with a confused and thoughtful expression.

"Well... That is right, in a way. Time traveling is probably the most direct way to change history, such as stopping two people from meeting each other, giving information from the future and other ways, but it isn't exactly correct either. Time traveling can change the history, but it doesn't do it in a way that actually changes history, but in the sense that it destroys a world and creates a new one in its place.

What I'm talking about are: Future Sight, Viewer's Approach and Reincarnation. Those are the three was that can actually change history, but without destroying and creating worlds. Future Sight is self-explanatory, you can see the future and change the events accordingly.

Reincarnation is also pretty simple, since you basically time travel into the past or into another world, but without creating the paradox of being two yous at the same time, it also happens to be your case of time traveling as well.

And Viewer's Approach is to have a person to read the events of a world that are going to happen, like a story, and then get thrown into that said world at a slightly previous point of time before the events, or somewhere during their start."

"Uhhh... Talking about a lot of information here. How complicated is this?" Kyle couldn't help but complain, as he was massaging his head.

"Not as complicated as you might think exactly. It's a bit of an information bomb, but it's as complex as a manual for electronic devices. Just simple dos and do nots, with the occasional exception." D shrugged simply as he fixed his hat's position slightly. As he was fixing his hat, Kyle decided to go out of the room with some coins on hand to look for something to eat, since he was feeling quite hungry.

"Alright, but I have a bit of a question for the reincarnation part. How would a person from an other world be able to change history, assuming they have no knowledge of this world?" Kyle asked after he left the inn, as he was looking around for a food stall.

"Remember the Akashic Records that you mentioned before?" D asked back as he was floating right next to Kyle, before continuing. "Every world has them, but those Records are mostly set in stone. So any outside interference from outside the records can change history without any problems. Of course, all of that is done unknowingly, even the reincarnators themselves wouldn't notice it, but then again, who would notice that they changed history unknowingly."

"I see. So technically, me just being alive means that history has changed already, right?"

"Well... *sigh* Look, let's not waste more time on this. I have some work to do and as much as I would like to continue this conversation, we don't have an infinite amount of time. Eat up for now, because you are going to help me out with my work for a bit." D decided to end the conversation and prepare himself for work, as he stretched his body for a little while. Kyle as well decided to give up on continuing, since he felt a chill whenever the thought for continuing the conversation entered his head.

After buying a couple of meat skewers and some bread, the two of them decided to walk around the streets and before long, the duo stopped at a large plaza, full of kinds of carriages.

"Wow... I have never seen so many carriages. Talking about all kinds of designs and people around them look as colorful as those carriages." Kyle couldn't help but comment, as he was staring with a shocked expression at the carriages and the people with uniform. One other thing he had noticed, especially for fancy carriages, is that each of them had a couple dozen people with different kinds of melee weapons, such as swords, lances, axes and others.

"This is the entrance to the Tower of Valni's settlement area. If you haven't noticed, this place doesn't have more than a few dozen buildings, so except for a few houses for the shopkeepers, there are virtually zero people who would willing want to settle here." D commented as he was turning his head left and right before landing.

"Then, why are there so many carriages?" Kyle asked with a thoughtful expression as he sat down on a nearby bench.

"Dunno. Even with the information at hand from the introduction sequence that I got from entering into this world, I still have no clue. We'll probably find out something though." D then started to fiddle with the ground, once he stopped talking.

"Say, what information have you obtained from the introduction sequence?" Kyle asked curiously.

"Classified." D answered monotonously. Kyle couldn't help but sigh, once he heard that answer, so he continued looking at carriages. As he was looking around the area, he would occasionally see some young people getting accompanied with people on uniforms, before getting on a carriage and leave with those people. After a few minutes of looking around though, he decided to get up and look around the area for information that could help him, but before he could leave, he suddenly called by D:

"Hey, don't leave yet."

"Uhhh... Why? As far as I know, you are doing your own business and I'm going to do my own business, so I don't see why we should stick together right now." Kyle answered seriously as he was crossing his arms.

"Well, you'll have to stick around and help me." D talked back without caring as he got up and wiped his forehead.

"With what?" Kyle asked curiously.

"With this." The moment D said that, he snapped his fingers and then black smoke rose from the earth, as it slowly encompassed the entire plaza and created a black dome around it. As the smoke was rising up, a bright array was slowly being created on the ground and before long, it was also completed at the same time as the black dome.

"Time to get to work kid." At that moment, D titled his hat as he spoke with a serious and happy expression.
