I just stood there as my shaky hands turned red in only a few seconds. The first freaking date and this man asks me if I want to go to his place! The fact that he said that makes me feel repulsed by him.
It's a totally turn off and it makes me feel that he only wants to use me instead. We had a engaging conversation that I really enjoyed. He seemed to like similar things as me and our differences were cool too. He likes unicycles and I love strawberry bread with vanilla icing on it. He loves seafood and I hate it (with a passion). But even after all of that the conversation never got old. It kept flowing into other ideas and mysteries about us. Even then we never had an awkward stare or pause where we look at the ground or spot other people around us. We were breathing life into the convo and it had magic following it. After all of our talking about our childhood and friends and even past relationships and maybe a second date, he says this nonsense like I'm really gonna say yes. Heck no!
"So.... do ya?"
"Sure. I'm cool with that." And there you have it folks, the stupid, idiot me says yes after all that time speaking to myself.
We walked to his place because there was an apartment complex nearby. It was about a ten minute walk, but we finally made it on the block where his apartment was.
"Is it bad that I live in a apartment?"
"No, no, not at all."
"Well I was just saying that because I'm a twenty-four year old man that should have it together."
"Everyone has there blocking points in life, and we shouldn't judge anyone's situation."
"Yea, I know. Just didn't want you to think less of me."
"I'm a kind-hearted person, I wouldn't think less of you." We walked up the stairs to the fourth floor and walked down to room twenty-two. He pulled out his keys and opened the door and to my surprise I wasn't expecting a decent cleaned house. I was expecting pizza boxes on the floor, dirty clothes, wine bottles, or maybe beer, even some markings on the wall, but his place was clean. It didn't have the wifey decor around the place, but it was enough for a guy to live in.
"Well this is my place. It isn't all fancy, but I love it."
"You added your own style to it, it's nice."
"Not a lot of effort and thank you."
"You're welcome." He took me to his sofa which was really comfy and it was a nice teal color. It made the room pop because he did have a good amount of neutral colors. His style was unique; he adds splashes of color here and there to make the room seem lively and spirtiful. I love a lot of color, but how he did it seemed soothing to me and calming.
I kept looking everywhere. The place was small, but it had a lot of stuff to look at. He had a glass chess board, a big screen tv (with his PlayStation, totally not surprising. Plus it was a Ps5), pictures of family on the wall and even degrees hanging up too. I saw professional pictures around so I assumed he was a photographer and if he was, he was really good. The pictures were captured marvously and he even took a picture of Dave and Tasha's pastries when the pink petals were falling. He sat next to me on the sofa and he put his hand very close to mine.
"I saw you looking at the pictures. I never told you what I do for a living."
"Let me guess... a painter?"
"No."
"A scuba diver?"
"Ewww. No. I hate the ocean."
"What?!?! Really?!?!"
"Yeah. I just don't like it."
"You're a photographer, I know."
"Yep. I'm actually working on a couple of projects now and I was wondering if you would like to take pictures in the fall leaves one day. I think your brown eyes would go perfect with the scenery."
"Oh my god. That'll be great. Just tell me a date and time and I'll be there."
"Perfect." He inched his hand closer to me and I reacted by moving away a little. I hope he didn't notice, but who couldn't? Ugh. Stupid reflexes messing up everything.
"Oh and I was gonna ask you Julian, you wanna watch a movie and eat popcorn together?"
"Yes!"
"Great, I'll fix the popcorn and you can look on Netflix for some good movies."
"Okay." He went to the kitchen and left me on the sofa. I picked up the remote and started looking through Netflix. I was thinking that coming here was gonna be a bad idea, but actually he just wanted to do one of his favorite things with me, how lovely.
