I had a cat

I put water into the glass bowl and added the noodles into it. I put it into the microwave for five minutes and I waited. I had a small tv in the kitchen so I turned it on as I was waiting for my noodles. An alert went out for heavy rains and possible flooding in the area. Hopefully tomorrow morning I could make it past the storm and get to work; I don't need to lose money over a storm, I'm already broke as it is. I heard the ding from the microwave and I took out the noodles and sat at the table to watch the news some more. I was so sleepy and the noodles were just hitting different today for some reason. I guess when you're poor and hungry you just get the best taste from the food you don't wanna enjoy at all.

I turned the small tv off in the kitchen and I picked up Fierce and we went to my bedroom.

"I love you Fierce and don't ever leave me." He just went under the blanket and cuddled between my legs; he fell asleep so peacefully and it warmed my heart. I don't need anyone right now, I have Fierce and he loves me for me.

The morning I woke up the clouds outside my window were already dark and gray. Dang it, I need to hurry before the storm hits. I ran to the shower not thinking about Fierce between my legs asleep, but I already jumped out of bed and hopefully he didn't fall of the bed. The droplets of water hitting my face felt so good on me; I don't know what was happening but everything felt so good lately and I was happy. It felt like all my pain washed off of me and went down the drain not leaving behind a single piece of sadness to takeover me and consume me with depression or worse.

Fierce started barking at the bathroom door; I knew he was hungry but I couldn't feed him just yet. I was in a hurry and he could wait a second. I brushed my teeth with small strokes and I shot back the mouthwash and spit it in the sink. Fresh and clean, a good way to start off my day with a happy presence around me. I walked out the bathroom and went to the kitchen and filled the dog bowl for Fierce. I even gave him some water, but not too much so he could pee everywhere. I kissed the top of his head and rubbed his belly before I left him. I closed the door and locked it then I went down the stairs and began to walk to my car.

I buckled up really fast since I looked up and saw that rain was coming down, but it was only a few droplets. I pulled out of the parking space near the complex and headed towards Dave and Tash's pastries since it was near the mall and the quickest way to get there. Then all of a sudden, the rain was beating hard against my windows within a few seconds. I couldn't see well and I was beginning to worry if I wasn't going to make it. I drove so slowly since I couldn't even see the lines on the road, or even THE ROAD!

What felt like an hour was only seven minutes and the rain was really violent at this point. No light in sight or a building until there was one a few feet ahead. Hopefully it was open because I needed to take shelter. I pulled over a few ways away from it, since I was scared that the wind would pick up my car and flip it over. I hopped out on the passenger side because it would be dangerous to go the drivers way since it was near the road. I pulled the hood on my jacket and tried to run, but I couldn't see where I was running to, then I heard a meow. How is a cat surviving out here, it's too dangerous.

I turned my head slightly and under a table was a soaking wet ginger cat.

"Woah little bud, wanna come with me?" It looked at me and meowed again so I took that as a yes and picked it up. The table did looked familiar and surely it was. It was Dave and Tasha's and I was overjoyed to see it. I pulled open the door and rain came inside with me and the soaking wet cat. The owner Dave and his wife looked at us like two insane people minus the cat as a person.

"You ok man?" asked Dave. I sat down at a table inside and I was breathing really heavily from running.

"Yea, y'all got any coffee. It's really cold out there."

"Yes we do baby." said Tasha as she went to make me a cup. She called everyone baby, it was her way of showing her kindness to anyone.

"So how did you get in the storm? Didn't you hear the warning last night?"

"Yes, but I thought I could beat it before it came. I was wrong for sure."

"Yea, we opened the place today, because we knew people would probably get stuck and need shelter till the storm calmed down. This your cat?"

"No. I found him under the table outside and I knew he would die out there alone."

"Yea that's for sure. Glad he's alive." Dave got up and went to the back to help out his wife.

I was soaked with rain and highly upset that I couldn't beat the storm. I just pray that I get paid for this day, since it is a storm hitting us right now. But knowing the mall and Spencer's they probably wouldn't pay us. I heard a ding behind me and I turned to see who it was because my back was turned away from the door. And then I saw the woman again, is she stalking me?
