Act Two: Chapter Eight: An Old Friend

Daniel Grayson,

After last night, I felt different, as if I had lost a part of that I cared about. His words, "Nothing is real for you Daniel", lingered inside my head. All the relations I had made and all dreams that I had, meant nothing.

I arrived in London the next morning. I walked on the steps of the Cathedral, Tried and barefooted. The doors were opened, but no one had come yet, accept the church's peoples. Several people were cleaning the cathedrals inside.

I felt my throat go dry, my mind repeating the flashback from the carnage. I stood there staring in awe, one of the church people saw me and came to me.

[Sorry sir, but we aren't open yet]

I knew that he was staring at my bare feet, thinking that I might be homeless.

[I am fine, just looking for a priest named Simon...His he here?]

[Yes, but priest Simon is now Archbishop Simon...And why are you looking for him may I ask] He asked confused

Archbishop, huh...interesting.

[If he is here...Tell him that a man has come to claim the Red Cross]

He didn't give me an expression of shock, but he knew it was important, as he turned around and hurried. I walked inside, dazed, and carefully taking each step. I reached the front row and sat on the bench, staring at the pedestal.

I sighed, it was just a bad dream and I had to forget it. I was excited for the first time in my life, to meet Simon, but I knew he wouldn't be the same person. Soon he entered the hall followed a few of the members in white robes. The same white hair and black eyes, but now older and with a short beard. He had the expression of shock on his face, with less disappointment this time around.

[Are you the one...Who spoke about the Red Cross?] He said exhausted from all the running I couldn't help but smile at his face.

[Yes, I am the one, (I got up) Allow me to introduce myself... my name is Daniel Grayson, but you can call me Daniel]

[Daniel...Can you tell me how you know about me and the Red Cross?]

[(I sighed) We don't time for this... You did bring the smaller one with you, didn't you?]

His look didn't change, He turned his head around and looked at the man behind him. The man came forwards, handing him the familiar golden bookcase and Simon opened it up for me. I finally laid my eyes upon the smaller one.

I almost let out a laugh.

[I didn't know what I was expecting. (I looked at Simon.) You are not the same person I knew]He gave me a confused expression and I came closer to the cross.

[I was scared...What if I am the one who changed...But thankfully that did not happen]

I traced my hand from top to the gem and shined brightly. Simon gave off a different expression, this one not being of disappointment. I looked bad at him.

[Now take me to the vault] I said quickly

Simon came back from his amazement.

[I see...Well, follow me]

I followed him down the same passage as before. With each step we took, he kept staring at me.[Speak your mind, simon]

[Alright, then Daniel...Can you please tell me...How you know about all this]

I smiled at him.

[Well it's quite complicated to tell you what happened...let say I am from another timeline, where you the one who found]

[Timeline? well that's about complicated as you being a messenger of God]

[Nah...messengers are dicks in disguised]

[What...] Simon said weirded out

[Believe me, one that I met, ripped you in half]

This left him confused and speechless, as the two men came forth and opened the vault, by using the lever on both sides. The Red Cross was there where it always was. I came forwards and placing the smaller one inside and watched as it became part of the bigger one. Upon grabbing the handle, the same burning feeling went through my body, all the way to my eyes. The cross became free and the pedestal broke, revealing the scriptures.

[What are those?] Simon said from behind

[Don't bother with them...I know where the rest of the artifacts are]

[You do?] I replied surly

[Back in my time...We deciphered all of them and found out all the locations]

[I see...I would think you would wanna hurry]

[Well you guessed right...First up, Canada, Fairy Lake near Port Renfrew, I want you to get me there as quickly as possible] I said

[Alright...So...do have any essentials with]

[No...No I don't... I literary don't have a slipper to my name]

[I see...Don't worry I will prepare everything for you]

[That more I like it]

The order of the Grand Church, how deep did their pocket and connection went, I didn't know. Few calls are all that took, to get everything ready. By the end of the day, he managed to get me a private plane which was to leave tonight, a nice warm bath, my preferred clothes, and a classy meal. Also, I was given necessities like Money, a phone, a passport, and two suitcases, one for me and one for Red Cross.

After all, was done, I sat down with Simon on the bench in front of the altar. Just a half an hour, before my departure.

[So Daniel...why did the Messenger of God kill me, huh] Simon said sitting next to me both were alone sitting on the front row.

[Dont worry, you weren't bad nor deserving of it ( I lighted up a cigarette)]

[Than why] Simon said angrily

[Being a dick of crouse]

[Why? who else did he kill?] Simon as curiously as one would ask

I looked up at the arch above the stage, the place where I got nailed by the Red Cross [Lot of people] Clementine, almost forgot about her [That doesn't matter anymore, by the way, is Clementine still around]

Simon gave me an unusual look [Yeah...She at our home]

My left eye twitched hearing this [Our?]

[Well we are married after all] Simon said all confused

[What?...oh, well good] I said going back to my smoke

[Why? is this so suspiring anyway...wait? (A smile grew face) Were you...]

I snapped back [No! Stop! there was nothing like that...in fact, I am happy for you both] I said looking away

[But... were you...like even a little]

[Dude...I was in grief over the loss of the girl I loved] I explained

A smile disappeared from his face [Oh my, I am sorry]

[Dont be] I said finishing my smoke and laying my hand back on the bench [I had hand killing her...I left her alone and when I did come back, I only fucked it up more] I said with my stomach turning

[How come?] He asked and I rolled my head towards him [She was cursed with a demon] I said

[And I reckon that's how we met] Simon asked

[Yeah, You helped me, by giving me the smaller Red Cross, and while killing that thing I also killed her] I said straightening my back

[I see...well its time] Simon said

I got up, wiping my eyes.

[One more thing... next place is the federal bank in Manhattan... it has one of the artifacts inside one of his vaults] I said looking back at him

[Sure...I will get to it and once you arrived in Canada, you will meet a person named

Aurumai...He will be your guide]

[Sure...thanks...for everything]

He smiled and waved me goodbye. Outside a taxi was waiting for me. I arrived at the airport with my luggage and set off on my private plane for Canada.
