Act Four: Chapter Seventeen: The Monster In The Wood

Axel Advert

2014/California,

Visiting my grandparents each summer was a tradition I hold dearly. Usually, it would be me, my little brother, and my dad, going into a quiet little town in the countryside. Surrounded by forest and mountain. But this summer I had a college break in autumn and so I decided to visit my grandparents alone, thinking it would be a wonderful experience.

Every year we would go in my father's car, but since I was alone, I had to take a bus up to the town. The bus dropped me on the road which leads through the woods. It was a 20 to 30-minute walk. Along the pathway the breeze was fresh and the side was loaded up with dead leaves. I walked for several minutes enjoying the scenery until a volatile smell hit.
