Festive seasons were very lengthy when they came and especially this household, they throw the wildest parties and not only them, people like them, it was  invitation upon invitation and the Lugard house always held the grand ball, the biggest party at the end of the year,


We were in the second week of December and the spirit of Christmas was very far off not even a single light was lit, I wondered why.


The invitation were not written they were more of announced,


It was time for break fast and the whole house was seated already at the dinner,


The man who was sent to deliver the first invitation stepped forward,


*the family of sir and lady Murphy cordially invites you to the Murphy annual ball which is going to be held at their mansion on the fifteenth of december*


After reading the invitation, he closed the scroll and bowed half way down before following a butler to see him out,


*first party of the season uhh*I said helping to place the tray of fruits in the table, even though I was still in a fake relationship this maid duty wasnt going anywhere,


*you should sit down and have breakfast with us*Morris said holding my hand beside him,


I was so fucking scared, he wasnt alright at all, something was seriously wrong with him, why in fuck's name was he being nice to me, did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?


I almost wanted to touch his precious little head to see if he had a fever,


Oh good!!! Now everybody were looking at us making weird cute faces except for Sir Luggard who now naturally didnt care,


*I think you're mistaken*I whispered to him not to attract any more of the attention I was getting,


*yes Alicia you should have breakfast with us, after all you're his girlfriend, you should play the role to the last*Kathryn supported her brother,


Now I had no choice, the whole family was looking at me at this time they weren't looking away,


I gave the weirdest smile I had ever given in my dear life, handing the tray to the nearest maid, I pulled out the seat beside Morris and sat down,


I helped myself with the food which I was going to force myself to eat because my appetite had disappeared,


*what is the color for the party?*Kathryn asked trying to break the awkward silence in the room,


*I don't think there's any color for the party, we can wear what we like*her mother replied


*we should go for shopping, me you and alicia, that's if she'll want to join us*Kathryn said


*I wouldn't like to impose*i foolishly replied,


*I don't see how you're imposing if I'm the one asking*Kathryn replied


*yes alicia, you should come with us*and I was shocked Kathryn's mother supported the idea,


I don't know why but I kept on looking at Sir luggard but he clearly wasnt giving a damn to anybody, I turned to see Morris's reaction, he wasnt shining his teeth to the idea but neither was he disagreeing,


*you don't have to think so much on the matter, its either you want to or you dont* she said politely,


*you should go with them*Morris leaned in to say,


Now I was definitely sure he had a fever,


*okay I guess*i replied Kathryn still looking at Morris still very surprised,


He got up and walked out of the dining hall.


I got down from the car and followed Kathryn and her mother at their back like a maid that I was, it was the biggest shopping boutique in town, we walked into the building,


*pick anything you like, bill is on us*Kathryn said walking away with her mother, leaving me with me.
