The Rebel Flesh

Game room…

I'm playing on my Nintendo Switch with Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa. Kyoko is in Kazamino while Mami and Homura are in Mitakihara hunting Witches.

It has been a day or two since Ruby used her Silver Eyes to give us the chance to run away from the Apathy.

Weiss burned the new type of Grimm I've never seen before, along with the barn we were staying in.

I told Team RWBY that I wanted a break from the adventures, and what's a better place to rest and relax than the TARDIS.

I didn't want to be alone with the Doctor or the Ponds. So I asked Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa if they wanted to hang out. Of course they said yes.

"Animal Crossing." Madoka said, holding a Pro Controller. "This is a laid back game. And we don't have to hurt anyone."

"Yeah. But we're not in any danger." Sayaka said, looking over at Madoka. "No Witches here, whatever."

"I guess that's good." Nagisa said.

"Are we gonna tell him? Madoka asked, telepathically.

"I don't know. Something does seem a bit off about him." Sayaka said, telepathically.

"Madoka! Sayaka! You're breaking down the trees." I said, annoyed.

"You're ruining the island." Nagisa said. "Stop."

Nagisa and I are watching the Villagers Madoka and Sayaka destroy the fruit trees on our island.

"Oh…" Madoka said, sadly.

"Our bad." Sayaka said. "They can regrow."

"What were you two talking about?" I asked.

"Nothing!" Madoka said, raising her hands. "Nothing at all."

"Okay."

"Should we head to the console room?" Nagisa asked.

"Sure." Madoka said, happily.

"I'm fine with that." Sayaka said, standing up. "We can play more of this game later."

"Yeah." I said, nodding my head.

Tardis…

Madoka, Sayaka, Nagisa, and I entered the console room. Loud music reverberates through the Tardis.

"Not my kind of music." Sayaka said, looking around.

Supermassive Black Hole by Muse is playing. Rory and Amy are playing darts.

"What's playing?" Madoka asked.

"Forty six. Rubbishy, rubbishy, rubbish." Amy said.

"Hello? It's a double top." Rory said, angrily.

"Wrong side of the wire, mister."

"You're on the oche, Red."

The scanner still cannot decide whether Amy is pregnant or not.

The Doctor turns off the music, "Who wants fish and chips?"

"Fish and chips where?" Madoka asked.

"Seafood sounds good." Sayaka said.

"Where?" Nagisa asked.

Rory raises his hand.

"Can I have a burger too?" I asked. "Haven't had one in a while."

"I'll drop you six off. Take your time. Don't rush." The Doctor said.

"Er, and you? Things to do. Things involving other things." Rory said.

"Well, we'll stay with you. We'll do the other things." Amy said.

"Nope." The Doctor said.

"Whatever you're up to, I'd personally like to be a part of it. What?"

"I don't. What could possibly go wrong?" I asked.

A klaxon blares, then everyone gets thrown around.

"You had to say it." Sayaka said, sarcastically.

"Solar tsunami. Came directly from your sun. A tidal wave of radiation. Big, big, big." The Doctor said.

"Oh Doctor, my tummy's going funny." Rory said.

"Well, the gyrator disconnected. Target tracking is out." The Doctor said, as the Tardis heads for Earth. "Assume the position!" Amy, Rory, Madoka, Sayaka, Nagisa, and I put our heads between our knees, then it all goes still. "Textbook landing."

(Open POV)

St John's Island / TARDIS…

Jared gave Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa augmented reality headsets, just so he can see what they see. Basically, the Augma headsets.

He had a bad feeling about this place, so he decided to stay inside the TARDIS, where it's safe.

The fanboy is watching whatever is going on through the big screen near the TARDIS door. He placed a chair in the console room so he can relax.

"Behold, a cockerel! Love a cockerel." The Doctor said, looking at a weathervane. "And underneath, a monastery. Thirteenth century."

"It's a medieval setting." Madoka said, on screen.

"Um, I don't know about that." Sayaka said, on screen.

"Are you a medieval expert?" Nagisa asked, on screen.

"No. I'm hearing Dusty Springfield. I may be into classical music, but it's not like I haven't heard different types of music."

You Don't Have To Say You Love Me by Dusty Springfield is playing on speakers nearby.

"Like Connect." Jared said, eating some chocolate chip cookies. "It is told from Homura's point of view after all."

The Doctor inspects a hole in the ground with a pipe running through it. The pipe is labelled Danger Corrosive.

"These fissures are new. Solar tsunami sent out a huge wave of gamma particles. This is caused by a magnetic quake that occurs just before the wave hits." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Well, the monastery's standing." Amy said, on screen.

The Doctor takes a snow globe out of his pocket and shakes it, "Yeah, for now."

"Doctor, look." Rory said, on screen.

"I think it's a supply pipe." Nagisa said, looking at the pipe. "It's ceramic. For the inner lining. Maybe it's corrosive."

"They're pumping something nasty off this island to the mainland." The Doctor said, on screen.

"My mum's a massive fan of Dusty Springfield." Rory said, on screen.

"Who isn't? Right, let's go. Satisfy our rabid curiosity."

Courtyard/TARDIS...

"So where are these Dusty Springfield loving monks, then?" Amy asked, on screen.

"This is where it started." Nagisa said, telepathically. "Jared can't hear us."

"With the Gangers, right?" Madoka asked, telepathically.

"He's a Flesh duplicate according to Yui." Sayaka said, telepathically. "The TARDIS gave her the information she needed. We have to know how it started. Then we can save Jared. Wherever he is."

"We came here by accident?" Amy asked, on screen.

"Accident? Yes, I know. Accident." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Ow!" Rory said, on screen.

"Acid. They're pumping acid off this island. That's old stuff. Fresh acid, you wouldn't have a finger."

"Intruder alert. Intruder alert." Someone on the speaker said.

"There are people coming. Well, almost." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Almost coming?" Amy asked, on screen.

"The almost people." Sayaka said, on screen.

"I think we should really be going." Nagisa said, on screen. "It's not safe."

"Come on!" Madoka said, dragging Nagisa away.

"I'm telling you. When something runs towards you, it is never for a nice reason." Rory said, on screen.

Harness room / TARDIS...

Buzzer and others are reclining in harnesses in the alcoves.

"What are all these harnesses for?" Amy asked, on screen.

"The almost people?" Rory asked, on screen.

"What are they, prisoners, or are they meditating, or what?"

"I think they fall under or what." Jared said, eating some popcorn.

"Halt and remain calm." Someone on the speaker said.

"Well, we've halted. How are we all doing on the calm front?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"Don't move!" Jimmy said, on screen.

"Stay back, Jen. We don't know who they are." Buzzer said, on screen.

"So let's ask them. Who the hell are you?" Jennifer asked, on screen.

"Those are the Gangers then." Madoka said, telepathically.

"Maybe." Sayaka said, telepathically.

Amy, Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa look around at the same people in the harnesses.

"They could also be the originals." Nagisa said, telepathically.

"Well, I'm the Doctor, and this is Amy, Rory, Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa, and it's all very nice, isn't it?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"Hold up. You're all. What are you all? Like identical twins?" Amy asked, on screen.

"Maybe they're um…" Jared said, sipping on a Coke. "God, I can't remember the word."

Jared clutched his head in pain as he looked at the screen in the TARDIS. Two more people walk into the harness room wearing acid suits. The woman seems to be in charge.

"This is an Alpha Grade industrial facility. Unless you work for the military or for Morpeth Jetson, you are in big trouble." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Actually, you're in big trouble." The Doctor said, taking out the psychic paper.

"Meteorological Department? Since when?" Cleaves asked, on screen.

"Since you were hit by a solar wave." Sayaka said, on screen.

"Which we survived."

"Just, by the look of it. And there's a bigger one on the way." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Which we'll also survive. Dicken, scan for bugs." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Backs against the wall. Now." Buzzer said, on screen.

"You're not a monastery, you're a factory. Twenty second century army-owned factory." The Doctor said, on screen.

"You're army?" Amy asked, on screen.

"No, love. We're contractors, and you're trespassers." Cleaves said, on screen.

"It's clear, boss." Dicken said, on screen.

"All right, weatherman, your ID checks out. If there's another solar storm, what are you going to do about it? Hand out sunblock?"

"We need to see your critical systems." Nagisa said, on screen. "It's important."

"Which one?" Cleaves asked, on screen.

"You know which one."

Flesh room / TARDIS...

Another vat, this time filled with bubbling milky liquid.

"And there you are." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Meet the government's worst kept secret. The Flesh. It's fully programmable matter. In fact, it's even learning to replicate itself at the cellular level." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Can you explain how this works?" Nagisa asked, on screen. "I'm a little lost."

Nagisa is staring at the vat and is getting close to it. Her Augma is recording every second of what is going on.

"Okay. Once a reading's been taken, we can manipulate its molecular structure into anything. Replicate a living organism down to the hairs on its chinny chin chin. Even clothes. And everything's identical. Eyes, voice…" Cleaves said, on screen.

"Your mind and your soul, right?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"Don't be fooled, Madoka. It acts like life but it still needs to be controlled by us, from those harnesses you saw." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Wait, whoa. Hold it. So, you're Flesh now?" Rory asked, on screen.

"I'm lying in a harness back in that chamber. We all are, except Jennifer here. Don't be scared. This thing, just like operating a forklift truck."

"You said it could grow. Only living things grow." Sayaka said, her hand on her hip.

"Moss grows. It's no more than that. This acid is so dangerous we were losing a worker every week. So now we mine the acid using these doppelgangers. Or Gangers. If these bodies get burnt or fall in the acid…"

"Then who the hell cares, right, Jen?" Buzzer asked, on screen.

"Nerve endings automatically cut off like airbags being discharged. We wake up and get a new Ganger." Jennifer said, on screen.

"So, it's like the Magical Girl system." Madoka said, telepathically.

"But without us getting Gangers." Sayaka said, telepathically. "It's like a one way trade off for us."

Jennifer leaves. The Doctor scans the Flesh.

"I don't like this." Jared said, drinking his bottle of Coke. "I really don't."

"Hang on, what's he up to? What you up to, pal?" Buzzer asked, on screen.

"Stop it. Strange. It was like for a moment there it was scanning me." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Doctor." Nagisa said, on screen.

The Doctor's hand is pulled to the surface of the Flesh.

"Get back, Doctor. Leave it alone." Cleaves said, on screen.

The Doctor finally yanks his hand back, "I understand."

"Doctor? Are you okay?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"Incredible. You have no idea. No idea. I mean, I felt it in my mind. I reached out to it, and it to me." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Don't fiddle with the money, Doctor." Cleaves said, on screen.

"How can you be so blinkered? It's alive. So alive. You're piling your lives, your personalities directly into it." The Doctor said, on screen.

Bang, flash.

"What's that?" Sayaka asked, on screen.

"I think it's the solar storm." Nagisa said, on screen.

"The first waves come in pairs. Pre-shock and fore-shock. It's close." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Buzzer, we got anything from the mainland yet?" Cleaves asked, on screen.

"No, the comms are still too jammed with radiation." Buzzer said, on screen.

"Okay. Then we'll keep pumping acid until the mainland says stop. Now why don't you stand back and let us impress you?"

TARDIS…

"Man, this is such a slow adventure." Jared said, sitting on the chair. "Why is it taking so long?"

"Don't worry." Madoka said, telepathically. "Thank goodness we can still reach you."

"I don't like this. I really don't."

Flesh room…

A smaller tank is filling with Flesh. A face appears in it and a few moments later a new Jennifer sits up.

"Well, I can see why you keep it in a church. Miracle of life." The Doctor said, on screen.

"No need to get poncey. It's just gunge." Buzzer said, on screen.

"Guys, we need to get to work." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Okay, everybody, let's crack on." Jimmy said, on screen.

"There's a solar storm." Sayaka said, on screen. "You need to get out of here."

"Where do you want us to go? We're on a tiny island." Jimmy said, on screen.

"Well, I can get you all off it." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Don't be ridiculous. We've got a job to do." Cleaves said, on screen.

"It's coming."

"That's the alarm." Jennifer said, on screen.

"How do you get power?" Nagisa asked, on screen.

"We're solar. We use a solar router. The weathervane." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Big problem." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Boss, maybe if the storm's back we should get underground. The factory's seen better days. The acid pipes might not withstand another hit." Jimmy said, on screen.

"We have two hundred tons of acid to pump out. We fall behind, we stay another rotation. Anyone want that?" Cleaves asked, on screen.

"Please, you are making a massive mistake here. You're right at the crossroads of it. Don't turn the wrong way. If you don't, if you don't prepare for this storm, you are all in terrible danger. Understand?"

"My factory, my rules."

"I need to check the progress of the storm. Monitoring station? Monitoring station."

"Three lefts, a right and a left. Third door on your left." Jennifer said, on screen.

"Thank you." Madoka said, on screen.

Monitoring station / TARDIS...

A big storm lights up the sky.

"Oh, there are waves disturbing the Earth's magnetic field." Nagisa said, on screen. "I believe the power surges are going to be massive."

"See this weathervane, the cock-a-doodle-do? It's a solar router feeding the whole factory with solar power. When that wave hits, ka-boom. I've to get to that cockerel before all hell breaks loose. I never thought I'd have to say that again. Amy, breathe." The Doctor said, on screen. "And Jared, I know you can hear me. Through their Augmas. Don't overthink things or remember important details."

"Yeah! I mean, thanks. I'll try." Amy said, on screen.

"I'll, I'll try." Jared said.

The Doctor heads up the spiral staircase to the tower top. The weathervane is spinning very fast. Down in the harness room, the Gangers are watching their originals as the storm gathers force. Down in the crypt and outside, pipes burst and acid leaks out. The ground below the Tardis dissolves, and it sinks. Up in the air, the Doctor opens the Danger High Voltage box and starts pulling relays. There is a strike and he is thrown off the ladder. Electricity blasts down into the Flesh vat. All the Gangers faces become slightly molten, and they cry out. After a short time, the Doctor wakes. The weathervane has been destroyed. The monastery goes dark.

Flesh room / TARDIS...

Amy, Rory, Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa are out cold on the floor.

"Oh. For want of a better word, ow!" Rory said, on screen.

"I really didn't like that." Sayaka said, on screen.

"That was a big drop." Jared said, sadly. "I felt that real good."

The fanboy lifted himself off the floor of the TARDIS.

"Are you okay?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"I'm fine." Nagisa said, on screen.

"Things couldn't get worse, right?"

"Don't jinx us." Sayaka said, on screen.

"Sorry."

"At least I'm safe in here." Jared said, smiling.

"No fair." Sayaka said, on screen. "You're safe in there. And we're out here."

"You three have each other. No need to worry."

Harness room / TARDIS...

Buzzer is being helped down from his harness, "I feel like I been toasted."

"What the hell happened?" Jimmy asked, on screen.

"The tsunami happened. Are you hurt?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"It feels like the National Grid's run through my bones but apart from that…"

"I hope the meter's not bust. I still want to get paid." Buzzer said, on screen.

"You sure are comfy in there." Sayaka said, on screen. "It's impressive that we can still talk to you."

"Yeah." Jared said, happily.

The fanboy is picking the chair up from the TARDIS console floor.

"Why didn't we lose connection or the augmented reality headsets?" Nagisa asked, on screen.

Rory comforts Jennifer. Amy doesn't look happy about it.

"I don't know." Jared said, frowning. "It is really weird."

"What should we do now?" Madoka asked, telepathically.

"We're not done yet." Sayaka said, telepathically.

"I propose we stay until the very end." Nagisa said, telepathically.

"That's a nice plan." Madoka siad, telepathically.

The Doctor and Cleaves run into the harness room.

"Doctor, these are all real people, so where are their Gangers?" Amy asked, on screen.

"Don't worry. When the link shuts down the Gangers return to pure Flesh. Now, the storm's left us with acid leaks all over, so we need to contact the mainland. They can have a rescue shuttle out here in no time." Cleaves said, on screen.

The Dusty Springfield song starts up.

"That's my record. Who's playing my record?" Jimmy asked, on screen.

"I think the Gangers are walking." Madoka said, on screen. "Like without control. Without an avatar."

"No, it's impossible. They're not active. Cars don't fly themselves, cranes don't lift themselves and Gangers don't..." Cleaves said, on screen.

Dining hall / TARDIS…

"No way." Buzzer said, on screen.

"I don't, I don't believe this." Cleaves said, on screen.

"They could've escaped through the service door at the back." Jimmy said, on screen.

"This is just like the Isle of Sheppey." Buzzer said, on screen.

"The storm has animated your Gangers. Like how it would be for a horror movie." Nagisa said, on screen.

"They've ransacked everything." Cleaves said, on screen.

"They didn't steal anything, they searched through them." Madoka said, on screen.

"Through our stuff!"

"It was their stuff."

"Searching for what?" Jimmy asked, on screen.

"Confirmation. They need to know their memories are real." Nagisa said, on screen.

"Oh, so they've got flaming memories now." Buzzer said, on screen.

"They feel compelled to connect to their lives."

"Their stolen lives." Cleaves said, on screen.

"No, you bequeathed them." Nagisa said, on screen.

"You gave them this. You poured in your personalities, emotions, traits, memories, secrets, everything. You gave them your lives. Human lives are amazing. Are you surprised they walked off with them?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"I'll say it again. Isle of Sheppey. Ganger got an electric shock, toddled off, killed his operator right there in his harness. I've seen the photos. This bloke's ear was all hanging…" Buzzer said, on screen.

"Even if this has actually happened, they can't remain stable without us plumbed in to them, can they, boss." Jimmy said, on screen.

"Guess we'll find out." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Are you okay? Do you need some water?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"I feel funny. I need the washroom." Jennifer said, on screen.

"Mind if Rory and I come with you?" Madoka asked, on screen. "You need people to look after you, right?"

Rory and Madoka follow Jennifer out.

Dicken sneezes and makes Amy and Sayaka jump, "Sorry."

"Oh! Okay." Amy said, on screen.

"Who likes building card towers?" Sayaka asked, on screen.

Sayaka examines a card tower on the table.

"That's me. It's good to have a hobby. So what, my Ganger did that all on its own?" Buzzer asked, on screen.

"Who taught you to do this?" Sayaka asked, on screen.

"My granddad."

"Well, your Ganger's granddad taught him to do it, too. You both have the same childhood memories, just as clear, just as real." The Doctor said, on screen.

"No." Buzzer said, on screen.

"Scared, disorientated, struggling to come to terms with an entire life in their heads."

Washroom / TARDIS...

"The Doctor said to not wander off." Madoka said, on screen.

"First rule with him, actually. Don't wander off." Rory said, on screen.

"And the first rule with Jared. It's to connect with him."

"I just need a minute." Jennifer said, on screen.

"Oh, yeah. Sure. Take all the time you need. We've got your back. You're fine." Rory said, on screen.

In the mirror, Jennifer's face flickers from human to part-formed Ganger and back.

"Rory, do you think she's okay?" Madoka asked, on screen.

Jennifer slumps forward and a piece of Flesh falls into the sink.

"I think so." Rory said, on screen. "Er, Jennifer? What's up, Jennifer?"

"Madoka, I knew that this was a bad idea." Jared said, eating something good. "Stay close together."

Jared is still in the TARDIS console room enjoying a nice cheesecake.

"What are you eating?" Madoka asked, on screen.

Jennifer runs into a cubicle.

"Some cake." Jared said, picking up a fork.

"We er, we'd better get going. Everything okay in there, Jen?" Rory asked, on screen.

A hand comes out through a hole in the cubicle door on an elongated arm, hitting Rory and Madoka.

"Madoka?" Jared asked, losing Madoka's connection. "Are you there with Rory?"

The hand breaking the mirror and Madoka's Augma broke in half. Then Jennifer's head comes out on a stretchy neck.

"Just let us live." Jennifer said.

Rory and Madoka run away.

"He broke the Augma." Madoka said, looking at Rory. She took out a contact lense case out of her pocket. "Torchwood contact lenses."

Madoka places the contact lenses on top of her eyes. She blinked for the contact lenses to take effect.

Dining hall / TARDIS...

Jared looked over at the big screen to see Torchwood technology come up, it was the Eye-5s, "Madoka."

"We need to protect ourselves." Sayaka said, on screen. "Those Gangers are dangerous."

The Doctor pops a meal into the microwave, "Are you a violent man, Jimmy?"

"No." Jimmy said, on screen.

"Then why would the other Jimmy be?" The Doctor asked.

"Don't tell me you can eat at a time like this, Doctor." Cleaves said, on screen.

"You told me we were out cold for a few minutes, Cleaves, when in fact it was an hour."

"Sorry, I just assumed…"

"Well, it's not your fault. Like I said, they're disoriented. Amy, Sayaka, Nagisa, when you got to the alcoves, who was in harness?"

"Jimmy and Dicken were helping Buzzer out." Nagisa said, on screen.

"Jennifer?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"She was standing on her own when we got to her." Amy said, on screen.

The microwave dings.

The Doctor hands the plate to Cleaves, "It's hot."

"What?" Jared asked, looking at the giant view screen.

Cleaves drops the plate.

"Trans-matter's still a little rubbery. Nerve endings not quite fused properly." The Doctor said, on screen.

"He's a Ganger." Madoka said, telepathically. "Like Jared. I can feel it. Even if I'm with Rory and Jennifer."

"Yeah." Sayaka said, telepathically. "How many were there again?"

"I think there were a few." Nagisa said, telepathically.

"Great…"

"Yui and Elfnein need the data." Madoka said, telepathically. "So we have to stay."

"Of course. And then we can leave this to the versions of us in this universe. The ones Jared has known for years."

Cleaves turns around with a Ganger face.

Buzzer grabs a knife and Jimmy holds him back, "Where's the real Cleaves, you thing? What have you done with her?"

"That's it. Good, you remember. This is early Flesh. The early stages of the technology. So much to learn." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Doctor, what's happened to her?" Amy asked, on screen.

"She can't stabilise. She's shifting between half-formed and full-formed, for now at least."

"We are living." Cleaves said, on screen.

She runs out of the room, screaming.

"Let her go." Nagisa said, on screen.

"Doctor, Rory, Madoka." Sayaka said, on screen. "They're with Jennifer."

"Rory? Madoka?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"Oh no. Rory!" Amy said, on screen.

"Oh, Rory, Madoka. Rory! Madoka! Always with the Rory and Madoka."

Monastery / TARDIS...

"Crap." Sayaka said, on screen.

Their way is blocked by the contents of some broken drums.

"Why are there so many Gangers?" Nagisa asked, on screen.

"Explosion must've ruptured the acid feeds. We're going to need the acid suits." Jimmy said, on screen.

"No, no, no. We haven't got time. Back, back, back!" The Doctor said, on screen.

"Madoka! Rory! Be careful…" Jared said, still eating the chocolate cake.

Rory and Madoka come upon the spill from the other direction.

"Rory? Rory? Rory?" Jennifer asked, nearby.

Rory and Madoka hide. Jennifer's face is half-formed.

Washroom / TARDIS…

"Rory." Amy said, on screen.

"Madoka." Sayaka said, on screen.

There is a hole punched in the wall to the outside.

"Of course, Jennifer's a Ganger too." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Doctor, you said they wouldn't be violent." Amy said, on screen.

"But I did say they were scared and angry."

"And early technology, is what you said. You, Madoka, Sayaka, and Nagisa seem to know something about the Flesh." Jimmy said, on screen.

"Do you? Doctor? Sayaka? Nagisa?" Amy asked, on screen.

"You're no weatherman. Why are you and your friends really here?"

"We have to talk to them. We can fix this." Sayaka said, on screen.

"Wait. What's going on? Where's the real Jennifer?" Jimmy asked, on screen.

Corridor / TARDIS…

"This place is falling apart." Nagisa said, on screen.

Another pipe ruptures.

"It is too dangerous out here with acid leaks. Magical Girls can handle it, I think." The Doctor said, on screen.

"We have to find Rory and Madoka." Sayaka said, on screen.

"Yes. I'm going back to the Tardis. Wait for me in the dining hall. I want us to keep together, okay. No more wandering off."

"What about Rory and Madoka? You can't just leave them."

"Well, it would be safer to look for Rory, Madoka, and Jennifer with the Tardis. Now I know why Jared gave you, Madoka, and Nagisa augmented reality headsets. It'll make it easier to look for you three."

"Here we go. Distress flares." Jimmy said, on screen.

Jimmy took out an item.

"Why did I give them those?" Jared asked, looking at the giant screen. "Why?"

Jared clutched his head in pain, dropping a glass plate.

"Exit?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"Keep going straight. Can't miss it. But you're never going to get your vehicle in here." Jimmy said, on screen.

"I'm a great parker. Come on, Nagisa."

The Doctor walked away with Nagisa.

"We really need those acid suits. I've sent Buzzer and Dicken to get them." Jimmy said, on screen.

"Fine and dandy. I'm just going to find my husband, so cheers." Amy said, on screen.

"Madoka, are you safe?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.

"I'm fine." Madoka said, telepathically. "Rory and I are with Jennifer."

"Good. Y'know, I thought you died there."

Locker room / TARDIS…

"Jennifer." Jared said, looking down to see the glass is gone in the TARDIS console room. "Is she human or a Ganger?"

Rory and Madoka find Jennifer.

"When I was a little girl, I got lost on the moors, wandered off from the picnic. I can still feel how sore my toes got inside my red welly boots. And I imagined another little girl, just like me, in red wellies, and she was Jennifer too. Except she was a strong Jennifer, a tough Jennifer. She'd lead me home. My name is Jennifer Lucas. I am not a factory part. I had toast for my breakfast. I wrote a letter to my mum. And then the two of you arrived. I noticed your eyes right off." G-Jennifer said, on screen.

"Did you?" Rory asked, on screen.

"Both of you have nice eyes. Kind."

"Where's the real Jennifer?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"I am Jennifer Lucas. I remember everything that happened in her entire life. Every birthday, every childhood illness. I feel everything she has ever felt and more. I'm not a monster! I am me. Me! Me! Me!" G-Jennifer said, and she looks completely human now. "Why did they do this to us? Help me, Rory. Madoka. Help me."

"Shush, shush." Rory said, on screen.

Flesh room / TARDIS...

The Doctor scans the vat with his sonic screwdriver, then leaves with Nagisa.

"Everything looks normal." Nagisa said, on screen.

A pair of lips appear in the vat, "Trust me."

St Johns Island / TARDIS…

"There's the TARDIS." Nagisa said, on screen.

Just the top of the Tardis is visible, sticking out of the ground.

"I'm safe and comfortable in here." Jared said, smiling. "Don't worry about me. You worry about Jennifer, Nagisa."

"Oh. What are you doing down there? Jared, you must have had an instinct in staying in there, eh?" The Doctor asked, while he notices that his shoes are dissolving.

The Doctor abandons them and runs back into the monastery with Nagisa.

"He did." Nagisa said, sadly. "He doesn't know yet."

"Are you relaying everything to Yui and Elfnein?" The Doctor asked, telepathically.

"Yeah." Nagisa said, telepathically. "All the footage here that Jared is watching in the TARDIS. They're being sent over to them."

"Good. You're from that parallel universe. Where Madoka Kaname became the Law of Cycles."

"Yes. We are."

"You bringing the Law of Cycles here was smart but stupid at the same time. Jared is hopeful again. After he lost his will to go on." The Doctor said, telepathically.

Monastery / TARDIS…

"Are you sure you're feeling better? No more super-elastic punches?" Rory asked, on screen.

"I'm different now. Stronger." G-Jennifer said, on screen.

"The Doctor and Jared, they don't want to hurt you, right?" Madoka asked, on screen. "You're as living as we are."

"They want to help, Jennifer, okay?" Rory asked, on screen.

"You used my name. You used my name. Thank you." G-Jennifer said, on screen.

Ganger Jennifer kisses Rory, then she hugs Madoka.

"Amy and Homura are lucky girls." G-Jennifer said, on screen.

"Yeah, they are. Let's go." Rory said, on screen.

"Rory, someone is eavesdropping." Madoka said, on screen. "I don't know. It could be anyone."

Someone was hiding up a staircase, listening. It is dark.

TARDIS…

"I said leave me alone!" Jared said, turning his back. "You didn't leave me alone in Remnant. And now you're here!"

The Eye Patch woman is looking through a hatch in the far wall.

Corridor / TARDIS...

Amy slams the door shut again.

"Amy!" Rory said, on screen.

"You're okay. What happened?" Amy asked, on screen.

"Why is she here?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.

G-Jennifer peeks out from behind Rory's back.

"She's a Ganger." Madoka said, telepathically. "She can't distinguish between what's real and fake."

"She needs protecting." Rory said, on screen.

Buzzer and Dicken come up from behind.

"I don't trust any of the Gangers." Jared said, sadly. "Hell, I don't trust myself. Why? Why don't I trust myself?"

"Jen?" Buzzer asked, on screen.

"No, it's a Ganger. Rory, listen." Amy said, on screen.

"Look, you listen. Nobody touches her." Rory said, on screen.

Acid room / TARDIS…

"Well, there's the suits." Nagisa said, on screen. "And the Gangers."

The Doctor and Nagisa find the acid suits, and the Gangers.

"Be careful, Nagisa." Jared said, sadly.

Jared is sitting on the TARDIS steps feeling out of place.

"Hello. How are you all getting on?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"Why don't you tell us?" G-Cleaves asked, on screen.

"Well, we have two choices. The first is to tear each other apart. Not my favourite. The second is to knuckle down and work together. Try to work out how best we can help you."

Corridor / TARDIS…

"The Doctor knows what he is doing." Nagisa said, on screen. "Stay together. Listen to him. You can trust him."

The Doctor and Nagisa lead the Gangers out.

"I wish I could help." Jared said, frowning. "I don't know if I can."

"Now, I know its hard for you to hold your fully human form. That's why you keep shifting between the Flesh stages, but do try. It'll make the others less scared of you." The Doctor said, on screen.

Dining hall / TARDIS…

"Jared's breaking down." Madoka said, telepathically.

"We know." Sayaka said, telepathically.

"But how can we help him?" Nagisa asked, telepathically. "He doesn't even trust himself."

"Rory, Madoka, we don't really know anything about them yet." Amy said, on screen.

"Amy, she's afraid." Madoka said, on screen. "And she needs our help."

"Jimmy, Buzzer. Come on, you guys. We've worked together for two years." G-Jennifer said, on screen.

"I worked with Jennifer Lucas, not you." Buzzer said, on screen.

"Okay, let's not do anything at all…" Amy said, on screen.

"Until the Doctor gets here." Amy and the Doctor said, on screen.

"Hello." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Great. This is gonna get confusing!" Jared said, annoyed. "They look fully human. And I thought Endless Mirrors was annoying."

"Tell me about it." Sayaka said, telepathically.

"You can talk to me, you know that, right?" Madoka asked, telepathically.

"All right, Doctor, you've brought us together. Now what?" G-Cleaves asked, on screen.

"Before we do anything, I have one very important question. Has anybody got a pair of shoes I could borrow? Size ten. Although I should warn you, I have very wide feet." The Doctor said, on screen.

TARDIS...

"Why can't I remember this adventure? Why do I want to stay here?" Jared asked, letting out some tears. "What's the point in all this?"

Dining room/ TARDIS…

The Doctor has acquired boots, "The Flesh was never merely moss. These are not copies. The storm has hardwired them. They are becoming people."

"With souls?" Jimmy asked, on screen.

"Rubbish! Achoo." Dicken said, on screen.

"Bless you. We were all jelly once. Little jelly eggs sitting in goop." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Too much information." Madoka said, on screen. "Gross! Yuck!"

"We are not talking about an accident that needs to be mopped up. We are talking about sacred life. Do you understand? Good. Now, the Tardis is trapped in an acid pool. Jared is in there but he is too scared to fly her. So he decided on watching what we're doing instead. Once I can reach her, I can get you all off this island, humans and Gangers, eh? How does that sound?" The Doctor asked, on screen.

"Madoka, Sayaka, Nagisa, one of you has to bring out your phone." Jared said, leaning against the TARDIS console.

"What's the plan?" Madoka asked, taking out her phone and putting it on the speaker phone.

"You have to get everyone out of there. It doesn't matter how. The TARDIS, she doesn't want me to fly her."

Jared walked over to the TARDIS console and flicked some switches and the take off lever but nothing was happening.

"How are we supposed to do that?" Nagisa asked, on screen.

"Think of something!" Jared said, angrily. "You're Magical Girls. You make home and dreams come true, right?"

"Yeah. But…" Sayaka said, on screen.

Jared ended the call and he crouched onto the TARDIS console, letting out a lot of tears. He doesn't know what to do and he feels helpless and hopeless.

"Look, I'm not going to lie to you. It's a right old mess, this. But as you might say up North, oh well, I'll just go to't foot of stairs. Eee by by gum. Or not. Good." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Okay, here's the plan." Madoka said, on screen. "We get everyone together and safe. Then we get everyone out of here."

"But we're still missing Jennifer and Cleaves." Amy said, on screen.

"I'll go and look for them." Jimmy said, on screen.

"I'll give you a hand, if you like. Cover more ground." G-Jimmy said, on screen.

"Yeah, okay. Thanks."

"This circus has gone on long enough." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Oh, great. You see, that is just so typically me." G-Cleaves said, on screen.

"Doctor, tell it to shut up!"

"Cleaves, no. No, no." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Circuit probe. Fires about ooo, forty thousand volts? Would kill any one of us, so I guess she'll work on Gangers just the same." Cleaves said, on screen.

"It's interesting you refer to them as it, but you call a glorified cattle prod a she."

"When the real people are safely off this island, then I'll happily talk philosophy over a pint with you, Doctor."

"What are you going to do to them?" Madoka asked, on screen.

"Sorry. They're monsters. Mistakes. They have to be destroyed." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Give me the probe, Cleaves." The Doctor said, on screen.

"We always have to take charge, don't we, Miranda. Even when we don't really know what the hell is going on."

Ganger Buzzer tries to rush her. Cleaves zaps him.

"He's dead." Sayaka said, on screen. "Why'd you do that? He was trying to stop you."

"We call it decommissioned." Cleaves said, on screen.

"You stopped his heart. That's awful. He had a heart!" Madoka said, on screen.

"There was an aorta, valves, he had a real human heart. And you stopped it." Nagisa said, on screen.

"Jen?" Rory asked, on screen.

"What happened to Buzzer will happen to all of us if we trust you." G-Jennifer said, on screen.

"Wait, wait, just wait." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Stop it!" Madoka said, jumping Cleaves and disconnects the power from the probe.

The Gangers run away.

"You idiot!" Amy said, on screen.

"Wait! Look at what you have done, Cleaves." The Doctor said, on screen.

"If it's war, then it's war. You don't get it, Doctor. How can you? It's us and them now. Us and them." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Us and them." Dicken said, on screen.

"Us and them." Jimmy said, sighing.

"Jared keeps having breakdowns." Sayaka said, telepathically. "Talk about spinning our wheels."

"This is kind of annoying." Nagisa said, telepathically.

"How about now?" Madoka asked, telepathically.

"Not yet." Sayaka said, telepathically. "Only when we know the time is right."

"Oh. Okay."

"We're learning more and more about the Gangers overtime." Nagisa said, telepathically.

"Look, I just wanted to help her." Rory said, on screen.

"Well, we all do, okay?" Amy asked, on screen.

"Don't be like that. Listen, she's…"

"I said I agree with you. Drop it."

"The most fortified and defendable room in the monastery. Cleaves, the most fortified and defendable room in the monastery." The Doctor said, on screen.

"The chapel." Cleaves said, on screen.

"Thank you."

"Only one way in. Stone walls two feet thick."

"You've crossed one hell of a line, Cleaves. You've killed one of them. They're coming back, in a big way."

They are, dressed in the acid suits.

"What could possibly go wrong?" Jared asked, leaning against the TARDIS console. "Sorry. I might, have, um, jinxed you."

Corridor…

"Jennifer!" Rory said, nearby.

"Rory?" Jennifer asked.

Her Ganger is watching her, stuck to the ceiling.

Outside the Chapel / TARDIS..

"What about the flares?" Jimmy asked, nearby.

"We'll worry about the flares when we're locked inside. Rory, Pond, Madoka, Sayaka, Nagisa." The Doctor said, nearby.

There is a scream.

"That's Jennifer." Jared said, his eyes widening. "You guys have to save her."

"Rory, come on." Amy said, on screen.

"Jen's out there. She's out there and she's on her own." Madoka said, on screen. "We have to help her! Rory, let's go!"

"Well, if she's got any sense, then she's hiding. Rory! Madoka!" The Doctor said, on screen.

"We can't leave her out there!" Rory said, on screen. "Madoka, come on!"

"Rory. Madoka."

"We know you understand that. Please." Madoka said, on screen.

"Get in here. Get in here!" Sayaka said, on screen.

The Gangers approach.

"Why are Gangers even a thing?" Jared asked, pacing around the TARDIS console room. "Ugh!"

Rory and Madoka duck down a side corridor.

"He's been really moody." Nagisa said, telepathically.

"There they are." G-Cleaves said, on screen.

"Amy." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Rory! Be safe with Madoka!" Amy said, on screen.

Chapel / TARDIS...

"Amy, they are not after them, they're after us." The Doctor said, on screen.

"Why? Why?" A voice asked, nearby.

"Show yourself. Show yourself!"

Corridor / TARDIS...

"Jennifer?" Rory asked, on screen.

Chapel / TARDIS...

"Doctor!" Amy said, on screen.

"Pass me the barrel." Cleaves said, on screen.

"We need something heavy. Anything you can find." Dicken said, on screen.

They barricade the door.

"That should keep them out." Sayaka said, on screen.

"This is insane. We're fighting ourselves." Jimmy said, on screen.

"Yes. Yes, it's insane, and it's about to get even more insanerer. Is that a word? Show yourself, right now!" The Doctor said, on screen.

"Doctor, we are trapped in here and Rory and Madoka are out there with them. Hello? We can't get to the Tardis, Jared's having breakdowns in terms of physically, mentally, and emotionally, and we can't even leave the island." Amy said, on screen.

"Correct in every respect, Pond. It's frightening, unexpected, frankly a total, utter splattering mess on the carpet, but I am certain, one hundred percent certain, that we can work this out. Trust me. I'm the Doctor." G-Doctor said, on screen.
