„Whoa you are that strong?"

Nadita exclaimed in shock. But Leon just ignored her and continued with his explanation.

"It's a skill called beast tamer it allows you to skip the whole subjugation process of taming. I'm not sure how exactly it works but it's one of the ten skills."

"You mean the ten skills? The skills of the ten members of the grand mage council? I thought they were only a myth."

Nadita was now hopping up and down in excitement.

"What do you know about the council?"

Leon asked with a concerned look on his face.

"The council consisted of ten unimaginable powerful mages. They were loyal to crown but one day they started a rebellion and destroyed half the country before they were stopped. All the members of the council had a special skill, and they were the only grand mages to ever exist. But it's all only a legend."

Leon sighed as he realized it was exactly like he had feared. The public only knew a small part of what had happened 200 years ago.

"That is what the old king told the public. In reality the council never planned to overthrow him. He was old and paranoid, so he approached one of the council members Laurenzius the rune smith. He offered him unbelievable political power and research funds if he forges an item that can seal the other members of the ten. Charmed by the riches that he got offered and forged nine items that could seal the other council members. He called for a meeting of the council and before anyone realised, they were running in a trap their friend activated the items and eight out of nine were trapped. Only one managed to escape because of a special ability he hid from the others. In rage he searched for Laurenzius to find a way to undo the sealing. When he found Laurenzius their fight destroyed many cities and, in the end, the last remaining council member killed Laurenzius but couldn't find a clue to undo the sealing since then he searches for a way to rescue his friends."

Nadita was stunned she always thought the grand mages were the bad guys and the heroic mage of the crown saved the country. She always wanted to become a mage and protect the people.

"How do you know that? How do I know you aren't lying?"

She asked almost in tears. Deep down she knew what he was saying is the truth because what good would lying to her bring but she wasn't ready to accept that.

"Because I'm the last remaining council member. Grand mage Leon and my special ability is shapeshift."
