Chapter Five

Around 1:00 the bell rang. Everyone stopped what they were doing, formed a single-file line and walked into the medical area of the factory. It was generous of President Peloscer to have clinics built into all the workplaces so people could receive their daily vaccines right at work. But suddenly, Jacob's head started to sting. He began to remember all that had happened. He remembered the control, the lying, manipulation. He remembered what happened to Miranda. But his brain was pushing back. He couldn't exactly focus on the memories. But what was causing this?

"THE VACCINE!" Jacob accidentally screamed out loud.

Everyone stopped and looked at him.

"What about it?" asked Hector.

"Um, nothing." said Jacob.

It was the vaccine that had caused this. Jacob had to find a way out of this but he couldn't just run for it, that's what Miranda tried. When it was Jacob's turn he put his hand out for the injection.

"What am I doing?" Jacob thought.

"You're doing the right thing." a voice in Jacob's head whispered.

Suddenly many voices all started talking.

"You need to get the vaccine to be healthy."

"If you don't take the vaccine and obey the health guidelines you are a bad person."

"The vaccine will help you."

"This is for your o..."

As Jacob's arm began to move close to the needle, despite his attempts to stop it, the voices got louder and louder.

"This is for your own..."

"THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN Prot.."

"THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN PROTEct.."

"THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION!"

Finally Jacob broke free of the vaccine's grip. He grabbed the needle and stabbed the doctor in the hand. As people swarmed him, Jacob punched, kicked and stabbed them. He made a brake for it but a Security-bot caught up to him. It armed it's gun but Jacob pushed a person infront of him.

As the person was vaporized, he leapt onto the bot and tried to break it. But it was swerving and zooming around so violently that he was just barely able to hold on. They both flew quite far from where they were. Jacob turned and saw an army of Security-bots, more than he had ever seen in one place, flying at him. The one he was riding was about to fire a shot at him but he redirected it downwards where it blasted open a manhole cover. As the bots flew at him, Jacob let go, fell into the manhole and into the sewer.
