Kidnap III

Xin took out the muzzle, then gave Jessica water to drink once she'd stopped crying, but the woman declined. She was sure it was poisoned, "That's how you want to kill me, right? By poisoning me and maybe make it look like I poisoned myself."

Xin didn't say a word, but had her watch him drink it to prove there was nothing wrong with the water. He put it close to her lips, and this time, she accepted it.

"Water is the only nice thing Kidnappers can offer."

"Really, What about Pasty flakes?"

She bit her lip "Don't try to win me over to your side. Kill me instead. I'd rather die than be bribed to be silent with my favorite snack. Miss Qin is worth more than that."

"I won't hurt you Ma. I just want to talk to you first, and then I'll give you the choice to do everything you planned to do once you stepped out of the bar the first time."

"If I listen to you… You wouldn't do anything to me, right? You won't shoot me?"

"I can never shoot someone as they walk away. That's what a coward would do. Moreover, I'm no kidnapper, and I'm not someone that would shoot anyone."

"I don't trust you."

"You have that choice. It's been two hours since he left. How do you feel?"

"Terrible! It appalls me that I need to converse with a man like you. You're all dangerous. I should've called the police when I had the chance. This neighborhood is loaded with delinquents like yourself…"

"But you still came."

"I'm glad I did. I know the truth. And after listening to the crap you have to say, I have the choice to report this to the police and expose Wu."

"Okay."

She tilted her head "okay? Is that all you have to say?"

He nodded as he exhaled the smoke from his cigarette.

"I'm giving you the chance to ruin your friend's happiness. You know about her ex, right?"

"It doesn't matter… I'll find a substitute…"

"Who?"

She didn't say a word. She wanted to, but she couldn't call out any names.

"Well, you're only doing this for your friend's benefit. You're both liars."

"What did we lie about?"

It was without a doubt that Jessica had a lot of weak points in her statements. Wu never mentioned what lie he told and why he felt guilty. Thinking about it all was messing with Jessica's head. She realised that's probably why he wanted them to talk. He wanted to make her believe they weren't bad people.

"Chang said he lied to Lijuan…"

"Yes? What was the lie he told? It could be anything...It could be anything at all."

"You both kidnapped me."

"I'm going to say the truth, Miss. You're a crazy woman. We don't have straitjackets here so, ropes were all we could find."

"How dare you!!!"

"Calm down, miss. You're already acting like someone with psychosis."

"Let me go. I've heard enough."

"I'm not done talking. You hate men, right?"

"Without a doubt."

"I thought as much. I have a Feminazi in the building. Jokes apart. Have you ever wondered how your friend feels ever since she started dating Wu. Has she been acting different?"

"Don't ask me questions. Just let me go"

"You know the answers to all my questions are positive. You can't deny that."

"Shut up!"

"I don't know about you, but I want Wu and Miss Qin to keep making each other happy." Xin guessed that Jessica didn't like the idea of that because she wanted Lijuan to herself.

"You've been distant from her lately, haven't you?"

She didn't reply, however the look in her eyes said everything.

Before Xin could ask another Question, Jessica opened up.

"I want my Lijuan back. I want the Lijuan that used to talk to me about everything before Chang came into her life. It's not fair that I'm watching myself get slowly replaced."

"It seems inevitable. Wu or not, it seems like nothing would've changed."

"That doesn't change the fact that you're both bad people."

"The fact you judge people by the way they look is disgusting. That's why you didn't like Wu in the first place. Isn't that true?"

"That's true " Her first positive answer. She was starting to admit.

"You know nothing about us, but you're already jumping into conclusions. Why are you so sensitive? You think physical appearances matter? I'll be honest with you, Miss. You're beautiful, you dress smart, you act like an upper-class lady, but you have an ugly personality, and I think you need to eat the makeup in your purse to fix that!"

"I…" Jessica didn't know how to say anything in her defense.

"Your friend is happy. Don't ruin it for her! She's finally found someone, and that person is my brother Wu. He's a great guy! You just don't know him, but I know much about you to tell how mean and proud you are. Hate men, okay, but stop being a nuisance to their love life. Wu is not your man, Lijuan doesn't belong to you. Be the supportive friend, and not the jealous one."

"So I should just watch my friend being manipulated? She's part of a bet, isn't she? Is it money you want? I can give you both that."

"It's happiness and love he wants. Wu will sort out everything. It's none of your business. Stay out of it."

"You don't understand me. Lijuan means everything to me!"

"THAT DOESN'T DETERMINE YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO HER!!!"

Her throat tightened and her chin trembled as tears raced down her cheeks again "THAT'S A LIE!!!"

"No, it's simply reality you would prefer not to acknowledge." He went behind her and started loosening the ropes.

"I'm not the type that talks much. Talking sense into you is draining. Go...call the cops...do whatever you want and see if it makes Miss Qin happy, but before you do, ask her how she feels."

Xin untied the ropes, and Jessica could move her hands freely. She got up, turned around, then flung her hand at his cheek, hard enough to leave a print. She grabbed his shirt, drawing in shallows breaths as she sobbed. Xin waited for her to say something, anything at all, but she didn't. She just walked away, but he called her back to take her phone and keys.

"Have a nice day" He said calmly, watching her walk out. He had little to no expectations. There was no telling what that woman would do.
