Chapter 58: Triumph Over the Stone Golem

Against the immense stone golem, I made the bold choice to attack first instead of solely defending. I knew that I wouldn't stand a chance against its formidable firepower, and my only hope of defeating it was to be proactive and strike first.

With determination in my eyes, I rushed towards the golem's leg, ready to deliver a decisive blow. Its massive size made it vulnerable, as severing its leg would cause it to collapse under its own weight. Additionally, the golem's slow movements allowed me to easily evade its attempts to stomp me.

With a few swift steps, I reached its leg and swung my sword. However, my expectations didn't match the reality of the situation. Every strike I made with Darkmoon merely left a scratch on the golem, seemingly without affecting it at all. To my dismay, the golem possessed a self-healing ability, rapidly repairing the damage I inflicted.

Undeterred, I remained calm and continued my relentless assault on its leg. I knew that if I persisted, eventually its leg would crumble under the relentless barrage of strikes.

One strike after another, I attacked while deftly evading the golem's retaliatory strikes. But as I continued my assault, the golem's self-healing became increasingly effective. It became apparent that if I allowed the battle to prolong, the golem would outlast me, as its energy remained boundless. I needed to change my approach, or else I would face defeat.

Stepping back, I created distance between myself and the stone golem. Drawing upon my knowledge of constructs, I deduced that there must be an energy core within its structure. Typically, such cores were located in either the head or the chest. While there was a chance the core could be in an unconventional place, I had to take a gamble and focus on these two possibilities. The consequences of what lay beyond this plan weren't in my thoughts at that moment.

"Sarah, I need your help here," I called out, seeking her aid from a distance.

"I'm here," Sarah responded promptly, indicating her readiness to assist.

"Do you have a long-distance weapon that can penetrate thick stone skin?" I inquired, knowing that she had already grasped my intentions. Her sharp mind always impressed me.

"I do, but it requires time to charge, and I can only use it once," Sarah replied, understanding the urgency of the situation.

"Don't worry about time. I'll handle it. Just ensure that you don't miss. Remember, target the head. I'll take care of the chest," I instructed, establishing our roles for the plan.

"Okay," Sarah confirmed, her resolve shining through her voice.

With our plan set, I swiftly moved once again. This time, instead of focusing on the golem's leg, I opted for a different approach. Concentrating all my strength in my legs, I grounded myself and propelled into a powerful jump. Soaring to a height of 10 meters, I plunged my sword into the golem's thigh and clung onto it, using Darkmoon as a foothold.

From this new vantage point, I prepared to climb further. If I couldn't bring the golem down, I would at least force it to harm itself. Sarah stood behind me, ready to strike at any given moment. I had faith that this plan would succeed.

I aimed to ascend to the golem's body, envisioning the damage it would inflict upon itself as it unleashed its powerful strikes.

"William, I'm ready!" Sarah's voice reached me, and I knew our chance had arrived.

Gripping the golem's body tightly, I braced myself for what was to come. Moments later, a deafening explosion roared from behind me, the shockwave reverberating in my ears. The scorching heat and the concussive force tested my endurance, but my resilient body withstood the blast from such a close proximity.

After the explosion subsided, I lifted my head to witness the golem's head no longer attached to its body, yet the golem still moved. Undeterred by this development, I quickly climbed to its chest, relying solely on my climbing skills as I had no weapons in my hands. Cracks had begun to form on the golem's chest, an indication of the progress I had made.

I concentrated my energy into my fist and delivered a powerful punch to the golem's chest. Each strike caused the cracks to spread further until, finally, the chest shattered, revealing a spherical core— the golem's source of energy.

"Game over," I declared triumphantly, reaching for the core, which was roughly the size of a basketball. As soon as I extracted the core, the golem ceased its movements and collapsed to the ground. Instead of descending with the golem, I jumped clear of it, landing on solid ground.

Gazing at the aftermath, veiled by lingering smoke, I exhaled a sigh of relief. I had finally defeated the stone golem.
