Chapter 79: The Unforeseen Intervention

An object fell to the ground with great speed, causing the ground to sink and smoke to envelop the area. As the smoke dissipated, the silhouette of a woman emerged. It was Sarah, but she was badly injured, her constitution weakened and her vibrant aura diminished. It was clear that her battle against Jack had ended in defeat.

With great effort, Sarah opened her eyes and gazed up at the top of Alcatraz Tower, where Jack still stood. However, there was a noticeable difference in his appearance. His body had transformed, covered in scales, and his eyes emitted a fierce and bestial glare. It was evident that he had activated his Fire Dragon Constitution during their fight.

"Never underestimate top-tier constitutions, Sarah. The Holy Blessing Constitution truly lives up to its name. I had to resort to activating my own constitution to push you to your limits," Jack remarked, his voice seemingly relaxed. Although his words seemed to praise Sarah's constitution, his tone conveyed a different message.

Facing Jack's indifferent gaze, Sarah could only clench her teeth and endure her injuries. She had given her all in the battle but had ultimately failed. All she could do now was buy more time. Her confrontation with Jack had been brief, lasting only about ten minutes. Based on the timing, Anna should have already made her way outside the tower, regardless of whether she had managed to rescue William or not. If Sarah could stall for time, she could ensure Anna's and the other's safety. As the inheritor of Queen Elizabeth, Sarah possessed a trump card that she could use to escape. However, she hesitated to employ it, as it would mean abandoning this place. Furthermore, leaving Jack alone here would have dire consequences.

"Jack! What you've done is enough. You've already absorbed a significant amount of dark energy. If you take in more, your body will burst. Moreover, if this immense energy goes berserk, none of us will survive," Sarah pleaded, attempting once again to persuade Jack. She knew it was likely futile, but she had to try.

Jack simply shook his head in response, appearing unaffected by Sarah's words. It seemed that nothing she said could reach him.

Realizing the futility of her efforts, Sarah slumped down, out of ideas on how to stop Jack. The information she had inherited from Queen Elizabeth's lineage did not provide any insight into the Emperor's Garden or how to prevent or halt its activation. All she knew was that disaster would surely follow if the situation escalated further.

"It's time to finish this," Jack declared, raising his hand as he spoke.

Sarah prepared herself, knowing that she had to do everything in her power to survive his impending attack. However, just as she braced herself, an unexpected event unfolded before her eyes. The tower itself began losing its dark radiance, replaced by a new radiance that emanated from the tower's base, swiftly climbing to the top.

In an instant, a human shadow materialized behind Jack. It appeared with such incredible speed that it seemed to have teleported to its position. Brandishing a mighty sword, the shadow launched an attack aimed directly at Jack.

All of this happened in less than a second, a testament to the lightning-fast pace of the situation. Although Jack reacted swiftly, evading such an attack proved challenging. Just as he detected something amiss, he managed to conjure his simplest yet strongest protective spell, but it was not enough. He took the attack head-on, relying on his dragon lineage constitution, famous for its resilient dragon scale. Jack believed he could withstand the strike and then overpower his assailant, convinced that he was only in this predicament because the attacker had caught him off guard. How could anyone make him so flustered otherwise?

Yet, Jack's line of thinking proved slightly off this time. Despite being a 7-star mage, a level where he would typically emerge unscathed from such situations, he was about to be proven wrong.

The person assaulting Jack was no ordinary individual. As the sword struck Jack's body, the dragon scale failed to fully block the blow, sending him hurtling down from the top of the tower. Like Sarah before him, the ground trembled, and the earth cracked upon Jack's impact. In a defensive posture, a large wound became visible, starting from his shoulder and extending down his body. A single strike was all it took to hurl Jack away from the tower.

Meanwhile, Sarah watched the events unfold from the ground, witnessing the entire scene with her own eyes. In one moment, Jack was on the verge of finishing her, and suddenly, the tower shook, and a human figure materialized behind him. Jack attempted to defend himself, but it proved futile against the force of the shadow's strike, resulting in an injury.

It took Sarah a moment to recognize the identity of the human shadow, but once she did, she couldn't help but scream in astonishment.

"William!"

Yes, the person who had come to their aid was none other than William himself.
