Chapter 9: Upper Hand

~ Matsukawa's POV ~

I woke up and the first thing I thought of was what happened yesterday, but most importantly the plan me, Kunimi and Kindaichi made. It's simple really. First I would convince Oikawa to make me and Hanamaki clean up after practice alone together, then when he's in the equipment closet I would go in there and close the door - I knew this sounded a little stalker-ish but I'm not planning to do anything bad to him.

Hopefully this plan will work and I won't come out with a hand print on my face and a broken friendship. One thing I'm hoping I'll be able to do is confess my feelings to him, and if he doesn't like me back then just friends it is. Although I'm praying for the better outcome.

After getting changed I headed over to the gym a little earlier because I knew Oikawa would be there and I didn't want anyone else to get into our conversation. I'm more scared than I should be, but that's only because Oikawa always hangs out with Makki and therefore most likely know what happened already. So it'll be twice as hard to convince him to help me.

I got there and saw Oikawa sorting through some stuff so I went up to him and tapped his shoulder,

''Who is i-'' he looked around to face me and stopped what he was doing, ''oh it's you... what do you want from me?'', he seemed to be angry at me - but I deserved it.

''I was going to ask you to help me with something.'', I managed to say that without sounding nervous so I'm glad. When Oikawa is mad at someone it's truly scary, last time he was like that the team couldn't work properly because he had a fight with Iwaizumi and wouldn't talk to him.

''What is it.'', now he was annoyed at me. Great.

''Well, I want to apologize to Makki but he wouldn't talk to me. And I know that you won't let me because he already told you what I did to him, even though I still don't know what I've done, and you think I'm going to hurt him again but please. I beg you help me with this! I really miss him...'', for some time Oikawa didn't say anything and I could tell he was processing what I just told him.

''Okay.''

''Whaa...'', I was confused. Did I hear that right?

''I said I'll help you. But only because I know that Makki-chan really misses you as well. Tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it.''

''Thank you so much! Anyways, I was thinking you could put me and him on cleaning duty this afternoon and that's when I'll try and talk things out with him.'', I knew how nervous I sounded but I didn't care, the only I hoped for is for him to agree. And he did!

''Okay, I'll do that. And while you're at it you might want to tell him how you feel. I promise you it'll work out if he forgives you.''

''Thank you Oikawa, and I'm sorry for doing that.'', he only nodded and went back to work while I went to the changing rooms to get ready for practice. More people started coming in and soon everyone was present.

(i know this chapter is shorter but this is one of the last chapters so yeah, i'm sorry)

\\ Afternoon Practice //

The whole day I've been a nervous wreck. The only thing I could think about was what I was going to say to Makki when I was going to talk to him. I'm still surprised Oikawa agreed to help me, and also encourage me to confess my feelings for him. I guess if he said it's going to be fine it must be.

On my way to the gym I saw Makki walking with Oikawa, they were talking and laughing and I made eye contact with Oikawa. He winked at me and waved. I just walked faster trying to not be seen by Makki.

Practice was the same as it's always been since me and Hanamaki stopped speaking to each other. But today I'll hopefully be able to change that.

Coach blew the whistle and announced that practice was over, Oikawa was next up to speak. Everyday he would choose two people to clean up the gym at the end of the day, and today it was me and Hanamaki. When I looked at him he seemed very mad at Oikawa for his decision because he knew that we don't get along too well but still chose to do this. I didn't say anything nor reacted since I already knew this was going to happen.

Everyone left the gym and went home. Now it was just me and him.

We cleaned for some time and then I saw him going into the equipment closet and followed him, trying not to make too much noise so he won't notice. When I got in there he was facing away from me giving me enough time to shut the door - but not lock it. I think he heard the sound of the door because he stopped what he was doing and looked around at me.

''What are you doing?''
