CHAPTER 83: NARGIL'S GUILD (2)

"You could say that." MEETIA never talked to me, but since you yourself suggested it.

"I see. Nargil is south of here. It is at two hundred kilometers so you should reach it by tomorrow night if you walk fast enough. If not, there is a carriage to go there. It will pass by our village in two hours if you want to wait. The fees are 100 wellis. Also…" The guard gives me my card back.

"Don't worry. I will walk. What else?"

"Your hood has blood on it. You should clean it or you will be mistaken with a thief or an assassin." Ah, yes, the blood of one of those guys who I fought in Colrad's house.

"Oh, yes, sorry, I killed a deer earlier and blood got on me while I was cleaning it."

"Okay, be aware of beasts as well. There have been sightings of gragoras recently. It is their mating season, so they hunt more."

"Got it." I leave by the road instead of the field this time. He might find it suspicious after all.

When I am far enough from the village not to be seen anymore, I enter the forest and call K'nor. Then we head south. We reach Nargil in roughly two hours. There it is, the big walls of the city, the drawbridge, the guards, and people entering the city in line.

"You stay in the forest, for now, K'nor. I will come back later." K'nor whines and whines, but he finally goes away.

I am not sure if I can enter a city with a wolfider as big as a horse like nothing is wrong, so it would be better not to try it. But I can't leave him alone so I will come back and sleep with him, which means that sleeping inside the city is not an option anymore.

I get out of the forest and enter the line. When my turn comes, the guard takes my card, looks at it for a while. His heartbeat is normal, so I guess there is no problem. He gives me back my card with a snorting. I don't want to read his mind to know what he thinks, so I just continue inside.

I forgot how big a town could be, Tatadrum was big, but this city is something else. And there are shops everywhere. I should first try to find the tavern where those guys stay to make sure of its location.

"Excuse me…"

"Hm. What?! You lost brat?!" I call out to a woman who is passing by.

"Yes, sort of. Please, I am looking for…"

"Do I look like a fucking guide or something?! Damn kid wasting my time." And there she goes without even listening. Well, let's ask somebody else.

I try to ask to at least five people, but none of them even stops when I talk. Is that how cities are? Finally, I see two guards walking towards me. Or are they going to the gate?

"Hello, please could you help me?"

"What is it?"

Ah, at least. "I am looking for a tavern and also shops where you can buy and sell things like armors and weapons."

"You are a merchant? Go to the guild then if you want to sell things. For taverns, the best one was the boar, but it is closed right now. There is also the black bear and the stabbing beer. Those are the best tavern in Nargil, and they also offer rooms to rest. There are others, but well, they are too noisy, or the food isn't good or… lots of reasons."

"And the guild, where is it?"

"That building over there." The guard points his fingers at a large three-story building. It is white with a brown roof—a lot of windows in the front.

"Thank you very much."

"It's nothing."

I go to the guild and enter. There is a big insignia printed on each door of the entrance, a sword, a shield, a balance, and a book. Inside, there are four big tables with eight chairs each at my left, a board at the back with a counter, and a smiling girl behind it. To my right, there are small round tables but without chairs.

The girl behind the counter looks at me and waves her hand. There are also people wearing all kinds of armors and even robes like Excafol, but all of them are glaring at me. Let's go to the girl first.

"Welcome. What business do you have with the guild today? Are you here to register as an adventurer? Or an explorer? We also have items to sell if you need something for your journey. Or you can set a quest if you need help for something."

"Good morning. I want to sell some items."

"Selling then. Okay, let me guide you to the first floor, where our certified personnel will estimate the price of your items. Oh, by the way, my name is Anriette Kolil. Suzy, please take my place for a bit."

"Okay!" Another girl appears behind a door, almost the same as the first one, wearing the same outfit. We go to the first floor, and there are six doors. We enter the second one. Inside, a well-arranged room with weapons and armors everywhere. And a bulky dark skin tone man without hair and a small mustache. Wearing a black and thick apron. Is he cooking something?

"Good morning Erald. This person would like to sell items."

"Which kind?" The guy's voice is not as menacing as his body.

"I would like to sell swords, daggers, and leather armors."

"Show them to me then, and we will discuss the price after I evaluate them."

I bring the items out of my bracelet: the swords, the armors… my raizen, and my destroyed armor.

"Ah, I would also like to repair these."

"Hmm… That's quite a lot." Anriette looks at everything I brought out with excitement. Elrad takes them one by one, looks, and strikes them a bit every time. I hope he is not going to do that for everything.
