19. The Chosen Child

Tatooine was... hot. and dry. this was the first glimpse my Spyders gave to me, of this damn dustball. This environment was not ideal for the Swarm at all. Let's see, who to send.. who to send..

Furen's element was fire, which would make the heat bearable, but his temper also suffered, as it tended to explode at the worst of times. No, I wouldn't be sending Furen.

Seren's element was water. this was rare, as she would soon be assisting me in making another general who was an ice type, do I needed her here. her temperament was good, nice and calm, but the dryness of the planet was not a good match for her.

Hoden belonged to the earth, and as such, was big and bulky, but not overly so. He was quite stubborn, and as such made an excellent protector. He was calm and determined, but also prone to aggressive behavior like his brother Furen. This could be useful, as he was the most patient of my Guards. I was Considering sending him, but then, he wasn't the brightest, more of a soldier than a warrior or a General.

Then there was Solen. he was the most difficult of us to understand, with even my self not really ever knowing what he was thinking. Solen was as changeable and adaptable as his element, air. he was quiet, rarely spoke unless spoken too, and did not like being touched. His wings were longer and thinner, than the others. I could tell he was always watching everything around him, learning from every little gesture or unspoken word. He was my main Seeker, and the Spyders were one of his ideas. as such, he could command them as well as he could speak to the wind.

I had decided, I would be sending Solen. I called him to me, only to hear him speak.

'Mother.'

'There is a boy-child on the planet below us. Take Concordia, and ensure this Watto creature releases them. Make it clear that we are bringing more than enough scrap metal and spare parts to cover both the Nymphling and his mother. If he refuses, explain to him the boy has potential to use the same magic as the Jedi, but without proper training, this power will drive him mad. After you have landed, Concordia will return and help us bring the parts. Here is one of their holo-devices, with a list of everything we currently have in the main hangar of our Nest. Do not tell him the following, but this is your last resort: If this Watto refuses our offer, kill him, locate the devices inside the two humans, and remove them. Have them gather their belongings and get on Concordia, and she will bring them here to me. If Watto releases them, you are to remain on Tatooine and teach the Nymphling the basics of how to use the Force. No doctrines, no codes, just training. Understood?'

'... Yes, Mother.'

'Good, You are to begin immediately.'

Tatooine, Solen Pov

I understood Mothers orders, though I did not know why she was obsessed with this Nymphling. perhaps seeing the child myself would shine some light on things. Concordia dutifully landed just outside the city, and I connected to the Spyders awareness network. I then dismissed Concordia, sending Her back to Mother.

I could feel a vague tug, so faint that I did not notice it at first as I started walking towards Mos Espa. Mother always stressed to us to trust our instincts, and mine were telling me that the city was filled with danger. I lowered my Presence and suppressed my Aura, then using a special technique that Mother taught me, I made myself appear to be nearly invisible.

The tugging sensation slowly grew as I approached a set of odd looking structures on the outskirts of the city. It was then I sensed the life forms inside, moving around and talking among themselves.

One of them seemed to become excited about something, and left their housing unit, only to stop dead in their tracks and stare right at me.

I mentally checked my abilities and made sure I was invisible, but the young boy-child continued staring. I turned off my cloaking slowly, letting first a faint outline show, which slowly filled in. Once I was fully visible, I cocked my head in a questioning manner, and simply stared back.

The little boy-child did the same, cocking his own head, then slowly approached me. I stood stock still, knowing that any fast movements may frighten this child. If he raised the alarm, I would be forced to flee, and would need to hide in the desert sands until thing calmed down.

He was now close enough to touch, but I remained still as a statue, only moving my head to keep an eye on him. He then saw my translation Droid, and his eye lit up. I slowly moved my head to stare at the droid, and it was then the boy did the unthinkable. He touched me. though I was able to remain still, my wings rose to stick out straight behind me, vibrating slightly at my sudden unease.

The boy removed his hand, and I forced myself to CALM DOWN as I hated being touched without permission. my wings slowly settled down, and once again rested on my back. I turned my head 5o the boy, then spoke, and the droid translated my words into Galactic Basic for me.

"Nymphling, is there anywhere for me to stay for the day? The heat is not kind to creatures like me."

The child just stared, and alarmed, i asked the droid to repeat my words.

It was then The Child spoke. "Did Ashla send you? I though she was just a dream!"

I spoke, and my Droid translated: "Then you are the one I seek. where are your parents? your mother or father?"

"Don't got a father, but ill take you to see mom! C'mon, ill take you!"

"Good, I need to speak with her, and it is very important."
