To the City

Although it appeared that she had agreed to leave this brother behind, Hua Jun could sense the restlessness in his daughter's eyes. He knew what he had to do and looked towards his wife for approval. Seeing her giving a small nod, he took a breath and stepped up to Ling Hong and Hua Meimei who were about to leave.

"Wait!" he said out loud. As both of them turned around, he spoke his idea "Little Ling has to come to the city to check up on Xiao Ling anyway, so let's leave together. Also you mentioned that you got in a fight with a gang so it'll be dangerous. Let me settle a living place for you afterwards."

Hua Meimei was happy, although her wish did not entirely come true she felt fulfilled knowing that he could be reached. Ling Hong was also surprised as he didn't expect the couple to give in this much.

He tried to refuse politely "Mr. Hua, I know you're doing this for Xiao Mei but I can't really accept these favors."

"Then don't see it as a favor, just take it as a payment for the checkup you'll do later." Hua Jun replied quickly. After being in business for so many years he negotiated with shrewd clients each day, so to force a kid like Ling Hong into accepting his decision was child's play.

"This....alright I accept." Ling Hong said, smiling bitterly. He had his own plans but now it seemed that they had to be scraped.

The Hua couple went with Meimei to help her pack her things while Ling Hong went towards the pill concoction room. Although he had made a space ring, there was only few feet of space and with the cauldron occupying most of the space he could only take a few things. Leaving out the common herbs he gathered the medicinal books and the notes regarding the research carried out. Just as he was about to leave, he saw that one of the bricks on the wall near the door seemed different. Curious, he walked over to it and gently tapped on it. To his surprise, with a soft 'click' the brick broke apart as an old wooden box with intricate carvings fell into his hands.

Seeing this box, he was excited. The excitement came due to the material of the box - Thousand Year Willow! This willow was used to store spiritual artifacts so that the qi would not leak out. He knew it was a good treasure and opened the box with haste.

What greeted him was the sight of rows of dazzling silver needles stored in a jade box, causing him to be dumbfounded. It was a complete set of 81 acupuncture needles made from the purest silver, which could be used to carry out the <> art, through which one's organs would be revitalized by injecting qi directly to the internal organs. There were also nine golden needles of differing shapes which could transmit spiritual qi, used for major injuries. With these he could cure the heart disease spoken of earlier with much more certainty.

As he studied the carvings on the side, he saw that it was the inscription for <> he was astounded. The method described on it was exactly the same as the one in his memory! He felt as if him entering this world was not a coincidence at all - there was definitely some relation between Earth and the Immortal Land.

Considering the fact that Earth has such weak spiritual qi, there might not even be a large number of cultivators. Even if there were they would be hidden from the world, as according to the memories held by the other soul fragment there were no martial artists he met. And there was also the ring with 'Yang' inscribed - it was something that pointed towards his origin but also had traces of qi.

"There's so many unknowns here and my strength is still too weak. Let's atleast get to Foundation Building stage before investigating further." he murmured and went towards his room. He did not have much stuff to carry, as there were very few clothes and only a small diary. He just grabbed it all before throwing it into a backpack, swung it over his shoulder and walked to the entrance.

The others were already gathered and turned their heads as he entered. he nodded, indicating that everything was done.

"Little Ling, what about this house? Are you going to leave it as it is or give it to some relative of your Grandma?" Hua Jun inquired.

"Grandma and us have never really been part of the village, so we don't have ay relatives here. AS for the house..." he paused and looked at Meimei, but seeing no reaction continued "we'll just leave it as it is."

"If that's so we'll leave then. We could be back by the time Meiling comes home." Hua Jun smiled and said.

"Yes Mr. Hua" he replied politely.

"Haha I'm already calling you Little Ling and you are Meimei's brother. Stop with the Mr. and just call me uncle." Hua Jun patted his shoulders and said as they walked out.

As they got near the car, a man stepped out of the driver's seat and helped to put away their things. They got into the car and Ling Hong opted to sit at the front, not wanting to intrude into the family's time.

"Brother Sun, let's go back home." Hua Jun said.

The car started and sped away from the village, and soon news spread that the siblings had got in a car and left. Most of them didn't care but a few acquaintances of Grandma Chen felt happy that good fortune had fell on the kids.

Ling Hong gazed at the starry night, recalling his memories from when he lived in the city.
