Nine Lives

My conciseness slowly comes back to me and I sit up trying to get a better view of where I am

Hospital bedroom is what it looks like

This place is like a home away from home

I get the same room every time I am not injured to the point of surgery or something

As my vision comes back fully

Who do I see but Mrs Cooper my emergency contact

"Hey Mrs Cooper" I say in a weak voice but with a bright smile

"What's my mom's current condition, we're they able to save her" I ask in a serious voice yet my face gave me away that I was worried

"Hey Liz, Well... about your mom... she's alive but sense I'm not family I couldn't ask her exact condition but I don't think it's looking good"

"How long have I been out?"

"Oh... Um... 2 hours probably"

I hum in response laying back down on the bed

"My dad coming"

"I was told that he was busy"

When she says that I start laughing hysterically

With tears forming in my eyes from laughing I say

"I bet he is!"

She gives me a look that's anything but funny but just that look gives me the strength to laugh more

When I calm down she says

"He cares about you and your mother you know"

"Sure he does" I say smiling from ear to ear but my words couldn't sound more sarcastic

"So when are me and my mom gonna get released" I say while stretching and getting out of the bed

She looks worried while saying "you'll be free to leave in another 3 hours, but I'm not lying when I say your mom might not make it"

"Nah it'll be fine we always come home no matter how hurt we never die we're like cats" I say with a smile while walking around

I look out the window while Mrs Cooper says

"Cats only have nine lives kid their not invincible

And for your mother this might be her last life"

" Good thing my mother isn't on that last life and neither am I she'll come walking out of that surgery room or whatever just like me and just like me will continue like nothing happened till it happens again or until HE dies and I get all of his stupid money and company" I say while spinning in the chair

"You know what's funny people always say dads coming he just has work or something like that but you know I can count how many times he's actually come on one hand "

"Why did this conversation get so damn serious let's talk about you how's your new dog doing, getting along with Ollie?" I say stopping the chair

"Their getting along fine for the most part the new doggie just does what a puppy does and likes jumping on counters but after I hired someone to take care of them while I'm away everything's gotten better" Mrs Cooper says while sitting down in a chair of her own

Right as Mrs Cooper was about to continue a doctor came in whispered something to Mrs Cooper and they both had to leave after saying goodbye

I turn the seat to face the window and start humming

After a few minutes of humming along to a song that I can't even really remember I curl up into a ball on the chair and decide to go to sleep rather then just waiting around
