Chapter 5: New Place

I hugged my grandmother so tightly, my body almost glued to hers. "I will see you in a few months." Her voice trembled. "I know you are nervous but you will have a good life here and I am planning on moving into the city soon so I keep an eye on you." She rubbed my hair as I sobbed into her shoulder. How was I going to face this without her? I haven't been apart from her all this time and now I must grow up. I cannot have her worry for my sake. She pulled my chin up and gazed into my eyes. "Everything will be alright, and I know you can do this." One last hug and she was gone from my grip. I felt a tremendous pit in my stomach as I remembered her signing off on my marriage certificate and handing it to Arlo.

"My lady?" A tender voice came from behind me. It was Gerry. "Please this way, I will show you to your room." I followed him upstairs and down the long hall to the left. He opened the door and the room was gorgeous. Everything was light colored to brighten up the dampened atmosphere of the home. The bed was fairly large and a huge window enveloped the whole front of the building for Lily to see everything. She walked across the wooden floor and saw there was a wide windowsill with a pillow where she could people watch. There was also a desk with books on it and golden dressing cabinet. "Breakfast is at 7. If you should need anything through the course of the night, please ring this bell." Gerry pointed to a bell hanging inside the wall on a steel string. The bell was surrounded by open ended pipes which Lily knew were to allow him to hear the bell throughout any room in the home. "Thank you". Lily whispered.

When Gerry left the room she went to the windowsill and curled her feet up to her chest. Her cold legs pressed up against her warm body and made her shiver. Entranced by the moon, Lily did not hear the door open and someone entered. It was Arlo. He shut the door and stared at his beautiful wife. Her curly blonde hair dancing on her back. He scanned her translucent dress and gulped loudly. Lily quickly turned and gazed into Arlo"s eyes. She looked mortified as Arlo began to unbutton his shirt.
