Lily rushed down the cracked stairs and closed the gate behind her. She was so excited to check out the city life and explore. The dress was ankle length and had many layers to keep her warm with a fur coat to match. Arlo had even provided boots with a heel for a feminine twist. Lily started into the city and turned the corner to see herself in a window. Her eyes widened as she didn't see Lily but someone more sophisticated, someone prettier. Lily slightly jogged out of anticipation to really get to the center of the city only passing one or two people. She turned the last corner and the colors of the buildings exploded! It was so crowded. She saw steam coming from food carts, people shouting to pull buyers in to get a good look at their shops and then smells; the smells were so intoxicating. Lily started to salivate.
She continued down the street as she gazed at a cute little corner shop. She peered into the window and saw shelves of books and smelled bread baking. With her senses tingling she opened the door and went inside. She didn't see any other customers so she began to browse. Even though she couldn't read the titles, she absolutely loved books. They way they smelled and felt in her hands, lily was excited. Her heart felt heavy as she turned a couple pages knowing she couldn't read them. Lily grabbed a book with more pictures than words and found a little corner nook to crawl into and she began to imagine what fantastic journey awaits the main character based on the images. "Hello there Mrs" a voice from above called to Lily. She slowly raised her head when her eyes met another pair of soft blue eyes. His hair was ginger colored and he had freckles everywhere. He wasn't as drop dead gorgeous as Arlo but he was very cute. Lily automatically smiled as she saw him.
The man blushed and stuttered; "My name is Finn. I am the owner of this little shop. How can I help you today miss?" Lily answered slowly as she was embarrassed at the fact she couldn't read. "Umm, well, I.... you...." Lily cleared her throat. "My name is Lily and I just moved here. I saw your cute shop and I just had to come in." She glanced over Finns body. He was about her height but he had a built physique. He must work hard everyday, lily thought. "Very nice to meet you Lily!" Finn said enthusiastically. "I have just made some oatmeal raisin bread and black tea. Would you like some?" Lily was thrilled to be offered something delicious. Her eyes lit up as she accepted his offer. Finn led Lily to a little table across the room and pulled her chair out for her and then headed to the back to finish preparing the tea. Finn grabbed his shirt over his heart and let out a long breathe. With flushed cheeks he whispered to himself, "That is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life."
