Chapter 17: First Time Spinning The Roulette (2)

He was glad that he got that ability for his first spin. In fact, he would have appreciated all of the low-tier abilities except for the energy spears.

'Why the hell would I want some larger versions of the arrows I can already shoot? So what if they are a bit more powerful? They are still low-tier abilities. Might as well get any of the other low-tier abilities that add something unique to my arsenal.'

It seemed like Seth had really disdained the ability of the crystal blade. In fact, he did not really enjoy any of the abilities of the blade. All of the abilities were pretty much useless to him compared to the abilities he could get from the other weapons. Still, though, the sword-spear was one of his favorites to look at. Its design was unique and was very beautiful from an artistic standpoint even when it was a weapon.

'Since I have my Low-Tier ability, let's move on to the mid-tier one. This is the category I am most worried about. It has so many abilities that it is hard to estimate which one I would get. If I count correctly, there should be 10 slots on the wheel this time.'

Seth pulled up the menu once again before heading to the ability roulette. He picked the mid-tier roulette this time and a black and white menu showed up before him. It was the same size as the previous one and the arrow was in the same position but as he had counted earlier, there were 10 sections with undecipherable words on it which were the names of the abilities.

'Start!' he commanded the wheel.

This time, however, he did not wait an hour before realizing how to get the wheel to stop. He let it spin for 30 seconds before he told the wheel to stop.

'Stop!'

The wheel began to slow down as it had done before. Seth's eyes were soon able to keep up with the wheel and before he knew it, the wheel had stopped. And just like before, the wheel had all the other sections fade away before showing the single section that turned into motes of light that turned into a screen with a message on it.

[Congratulations, User! You have unlocked the Mid-tier ability: Satellite Variants.]

Seth let out a sigh of relief when he saw that power. It was one of the few mid-tier powers that were truly useful while he was stuck in spirit form and inside another person's body. He could use the drones himself and at a distance, unlike other abilities that had a limited range.

And unlike the recon drones, these drones had many different capabilities. Although he was unsure of what type of weapons they could use, by some of them being called 'Attack Satellites' they should be armed decently.

'Now that I think about it, I need to do some testing later. With all the powers I get, or at least the ones that work in here. I need to know their limits.'

He pulled up the roulette wheel again before summoning the high-tier wheel and spinning it. This wheel had 13 sections on it. Seth tried to see if he could read this one but it was still in a language he could not understand and was no closer to deciphering from his brief glimpses of it.

'If I can find out what these words mean, I could get a hint of those beings that made this system. Once I find them... hahaha they will know the wrath of a god of destruction and death.'

'Stop!' he commanded the wheel. All the other sections faded away before the remaining one turned into a screen that read:

[Congratulations, User! You have unlocked the High-tier ability: Level 4: Grand Healing Factor.]

Looking at the result of his first High-Tier spin, Seth was both pleased and frustrated. He knew that being the level 4 version of the healing factor, this ability must be powerful since the 5th level was comparable to a pantheon-tier ability. But it annoyed him that he could not use it to its full extent since he was still stuck in a spirit form.

'Wait. I am thinking too... humanly. I am a spirit if I put it nicely, or a parasite if I speak bluntly. I go into hosts and get benefits from them before leaving them when they die.

Or maybe we have more of a symbiotic relationship If I get along with my host but I could also kill them just as easily. But with this ability, if I grant it to a host, I may be able to keep the more likable ones alive for longer.

In fact, I could even use this as a control method. Give them the power and take it away in the midst of a battle with a powerful enemy if they annoy me.

But that also means alerting the host of my presence. While I am not scared of betrayal since I can kill most of these beings easily by surprise, I do not want to have to waste potential hosts. Guess I will just have to be selective of who I speak to.

But by using hosts, I could... hahaha!'

Thinking of the new use of his powers and potential to have hosts/puppets under his control, Seth was already coming up with ways to cause mayhem and make money in the world. He realized that he did not want to live as he did in his old world.

Seth opened up the roulette with a new goal and objective in mind before spinning. His thoughts were not the same as before and he was ready for the change.

'Stop!'

[Congratulations, User! You have unlocked the High-tier ability: Level 2: Replication.]

Seth knew he would most likely get that power as well as being grateful for the power. He knew that that the healing factor and replication abilities took up a total of 10 spots on the wheel due to the various levels to them so the odds of getting them were high.

He also realized that his previous thoughts were too small scale. Indeed, if he could only remain in one body, then this power would be useless until he got his own body. But with soul transfer, he realized that he could have multiple hosts at once.

With multiple hosts, he could gain more roulette spins faster as well as use them to gather more information without giving away his identity so easily.
