The Offer

(3 Years Later)

Chatoyant eyes lingered over her being in the mirror as she ran a clawed hand through her thick black hair to take out any tangles. Giving a happy sigh as she finally got her hair to lay exactly how she wanted it, she brought up her other hand that held her new I.D. card. This card officially declared her a Pro Hero. While she was less than satisfied with her picture on it, she was glad to finally have it.

Today was graduation and she couldn't help, but be thankful that school was finally over. Not to say she didn't like attending U.A., but the workload she had to do with it for HPSC barely left her enough time to sleep at night. Despite all of that, she would actually miss U.A.

The testing that was required for getting into the prestigious U.A. was laughable compared to the training and education she received while living with Master Takao and Master Kanda. In fact, she held the top score for the entire class in the written exam, the physical exam, and mock battle. It caused her classmates to look at her for a little while like an idol, but it died down after the first year.

After the first couple of weeks of attending school, the Hero Public Safety Commission demanded she take special secondary education courses to progress even faster since her GPA was flawless at U.A. Thankfully, they gave her a list of optional courses she could choose from and she actually enjoyed what she chose.

Other than that, her U.A. High School experience was rather boring for the most part. HPSC had requested that she not participate in the famous U.A. Sports Festival, saying that she should keep her quirk as hidden from the public as possible for the future.

All of her internships and work studies were done directly through the commission where they paired her each year with several powerful top pro heroes for one-on-one training. And when she wasn't working with them, she had a personal trainer come and work with her until she almost couldn't stand anymore.

Despite her acne ridden younger years, she had finally gotten rid of them to have a clear and spotless face. She even personally thought she turned out quite cute looking or maybe even hot. Not that she thought body image was everything, but she had always been self conscious of the way she appeared.

She had filled out physically in the right places, giving her body an hourglass shape with nice C-cup sized breasts. Even through all the training, her body was toned while also keeping some parts fleshed out so she didn't look like all muscle and bone. She was often asked by her female classmates how she kept her body looking like this, but she wasn't honestly sure. Some girls teased that it was because fox legend says that female foxes seduced men and in order to seduce men, she needed to be good looking. While amusing, this idea only caused her to shake her head at them usually.

The only down side to her looks was she was constantly being hit on by both males and females that she had absolutely no interest in. Even after the last few years, nothing seemed to fill the void that Hawks had when he left. She stopped trying to search for him after her first year at U.A., finally understanding that if HPSC didn't want someone to be found, they wouldn't be; and they didn't want Hawks to be found yet. She had tried dating a couple of times, but no one quite caught her interest like that cocky Bird Brain. This only tightened her resolve to focus on her studies so that maybe once she was out, she could search better for him.

While she was currently in street clothes, with the help of U.A. and the HPSC, they had a final product of her hero uniform that she was rather proud of. Her top was a form fitting strapless black leotard with a loose fitting crop top that ended right below her bust. Matching the color of her ears, the crop top was also fitted with a hood that had two holes for when she pulled it up, her ears could poke through. Her hands were covered with fingerless gloves so she could use her claws unhindered, also in black.

Her leotard disappeared into cargo style pants, the same color of her crop top. The pants were covered in several deep pockets to hold her many support items she carried to help in battle. Her cargo pants were held up by a black belt that held several bobbles that also held support items to also assist her in battle. Lastly, her pants were tucked into black thick soled combat style boots that lace up the front.

All pieces were fireproof, which took the longest to finalize since it seemed that her fire kept increasing in temperature. The fibers of her clothes were also laced with the fur from her tail so it could work with her illusionary magic. Her clothing was also tear resistant so she didn't accidently slice through them with her sharp claws.

Deciding that she had been vein enough, she exited the bathroom to hear, "Oh, Kit! I was just looking for you."

One of her ears twitched towards the voice before her eyes turned to land on a small mouse-dog-bear type creature, "Is there something I can help you with, Principal Nezu?"

"Yes, yes." His calm gate didn't match the excitement in his voice, "Could I have a moment?"

She watched as he pointed down the hall towards his office, "Of course."

Nezu was a very kind… man? He always joked that he didn't even know if he was a mouse, dog, or bear, but he was a chimera of sorts. He had the head of a mouse with black beady eyes with a large scar that ran down the right one. On top of his head were two ears that reminded her of bear ears that were pink on the inside. His muzzle was elongated with a small round nose that gave him an almost cute face. His hands were actually dog-like paws with round pink pads. At the base of his spine was a cat-like tail that, like the rest of his body, was covered in pure white fur.

He was often found dressing formally, taking his position as principal seriously. He wore a white dress shirt with a thin red tie that was tucked under a black double-breasted waistcoat and matching dress pants. What stood out about his outfit was the bright orange sneakers with thick off-white soles. She personally thought he wore these shoes to give him a few inches.

Once she entered his office, he pointed to a seat, "Please sit. Would you like some tea?" He offered while walking over to a fancy looking tea machine. When she nodded, he poured both of them a cup and set hers in front of her before bouncing up to sit in the seat across from him, "I'm going to get right to the point, Kit, if you don't mind." He paused to take a sip, "I have an offer I'd like to extend to you."

Kit had been eyeing the tea in front of her, but looked up at this, "An offer?"

"I have watched you over the last couple of years and I recently have learned something about you." He began, his voice now taking a professional tone, "While attending the hero course here, doing your internships and work studies, you had also been taking secondary education classes!" He seemed almost more excited about this than she did, "And you graduated from those courses a year early. To say I am impressed is an understatement."

She swallowed some tea to hide her sudden shyness the best she could before setting down her cup, "Thank you, but it wasn't that big of a deal…"

"I believe it is." He roamed over to his desk to pick up some papers and read over them, "You graduated top of your class in both U.A. and the college courses. You also have excellent reviews from your internships and work studies." He set the papers down on the coffee table before climbing back into his seat, "My offer to you is a job here at U.A." He looked over her face for her reaction, "With your degree in Counseling, more specifically Trauma Counseling, you would be an asset to this school." He went on quickly then, "Hounddog is a good counselor, but his counseling is geared for life-style rather than trauma. And, with as many students as we have, it sometimes difficult for him to guide them all. There is also the fact that you are female and some of our students sometimes have gender preferences when talking about personal troubles." He took another drink, "On the side, as well, I would have you assist the Hero Course teachers with their classes since they sometimes have a lot more work than the rest of the staff."

"I..." Kit stuttered a little while looking down at her hands that fidgeted along her five tails, "Would it be okay if I think about it?"

"Of course, this is a very important decision. I want you to make the choice that best fits you and makes you happy." He gave her another friendly smile, "I have another few teacher positions that I am interviewing for today… So, could I request to have an answer by tomorrow?"

"I will do my best, Principal Nezu." Kit stood and bowed, "If you don't mind, I'll be on my way home. I have much to think about."

"I will see you tomorrow then. Have a good rest of your day." Nezu waved after her as she left the room.

She made her way outside the gate before she let everything start to process in her mind. She could feel her heart pound at the thought of letting her caretaker know of the offer and her want to actually do it. She rarely got to do exactly what she wanted, so she crossed her tails in hope that maybe just once they would take her feelings into consideration.

After a thirty minute walk, she was finally walking into a simple looking estate home and taking off her shoes, "I'm home, Master Mera!"

It was quiet for a few moments, but soon she heard the thumping of footsteps before a messy head of hair opened a door in the hallway, "Welcome back, Kit." He raised a hand to yawn behind it, "I just got some news to discuss with you, so please come inside so I can speak with you..." His bleary eyes seemed to focus on her face for a moment, "It seems you also have some news?"

Kit grinned at him, "I do."

She followed the older man inside of the room he had been and took a seat before his cluttered desk. When Kit had been transferred Musutafu, she had originally stayed with the President of HPSC, but that brought her a lot of unwanted attention, so they sent her to live with Mera soon afterwards.

Yokumiru Mera was an important member of the HPSC since he was often the host of the provisional hero license exams that are held biannually, among other important things. He often complained about being overworked.

Because of the weight of such an important position within HPSC, he almost always looked like he was about to pass out from exhaustion. He had ear length light beige colored hair that looked unkempt, along with the rest of his appearance with an ear piece often stuck out from his right ear from within the mass of it. Mera was often found in a simple dark grey suit and clumpy dress shoes to finish.

He lowered himself into his plush desk chair to put his hands together in front of him, "We'll start with your news, Kit."

Kit's ears laid back against the sides of her head at the thought of going first since it could determine the rest of how their little meeting went, "I was offered a position today at U.A. by Principal Nezu." She pushed the urge to hesitate from her system, "They want me to become a trauma counselor and assist the teachers of the hero courses."

His head bobbed as he listened, "This is actually quite good news, Kit." He pulled a small tablet type device from his inner pocket, "It was actually suggested by headquarters that you apply to U.A., but they were not sure you'd get in with such little experience. If you didn't get in there, they'd have you try out at Shiketsu instead." He sighed almost as if disinterested, "This is also perfect since I was informed that once you had a place of employment, we could find you a new residence."

Kit barely concealed her slight disappointment in re-homing, "Who would I be living with now?"

He raised his eyes to look at her over his tablet, "Your own private residence."

"Oh." She couldn't stop her tails from snapping happily at this news.

He nodded and returned his eyes to the screen to type in a few things, "Well, since your employment covers what HQ wanted you to do, I have nothing more to inform you of." He lowered the tablet to the table, "I would begin to pack your things and make a list of needs you will have for your new home. I will compile a list of homes for you to choose from within the next couple of days." The small smile that graced his face looked awkward there, but made her happy none-the-less, "Congratulations, Kit, you're in the big leagues now." He made a waving motion then, "Go on ahead."

Kit stood quickly and bowed to him, "Thank you so much, Master Mera."

She couldn't leave the room fast enough before she was going through closets in the house to find boxes she could use to pack her things into.

The next day, Kit found herself once again walking the halls of U.A., but this time not as a student. Before she had even left the house, she had cast an illusion on herself to look like a normal human so she didn't draw too much attention to herself. She was always taught that for her, it was best not to be noticed very much if she could help it. The less possible villains know about her quirk, the better off she would be against them in the future. Despite this, she wore her hero costume just in case; she was a hero after all.

She reached the floor where Nezu's office was and after straightening her uniform, she knocked on the door. Even with her fox ears not present, she could still hear extremely well as she heard talking and wondered if she should've called before coming since it sounded like he had company.

The door jerked open a moment later and Nezu's beady eyes looked up at her, "Kit, perfect timing." He stepped to the side for her to enter, "Come in!"

"Are you sure? If you have company…" Kit's eyes looked inside for a second, locking briefly with a dark haired male, before looking back down to her former principal, "… I can come back at a better time."

"Oh, no, no!" He grabbed the sleeve of her crop top and tugged her to come inside, "In fact you have perfect timing since I want you to meet the two new teachers I just hired for the next school year." He let her go once she was inside the door to shut it and then motioned to a man sitting in a chair, "That is Yamada Hizashi or you might know him as the Voice Hero: Present Mic." He then motioned to the one she had previously looked at, "And that is Aizawa Shouta, the Erasure Hero: Eraser Head." He looked back up at her, "They are both former students of U.A., though I was not the Principal at the time."

Present Mic was a tall peach skinned man with extremely long blond hair that seemed to somehow defy gravity since it was styled in an upward spike. With what she could see briefly of his eyes, they were a yellow-green color, hidden behind a pair of orange tinted shades. On his upper lip was a small mustache, but the rest of the skin on his face was smooth.

His hero costume reminded her of some kind of punk rocker mixed with a biker, consisting of a black leather styled jacket with a high collar and studs. His pants, held up by a red belt, matched his jacket in color and were tucked into loose knee high boots. He had tan shoulder pads and red elbow pads, both also with studded spikes. Around the front of his neck was what looked like a speaker of sorts and covering his ears were a set of headphones with the word 'HAGE' on the band. On his hands were fingerless gloves with red accents.

Eraser Head was also tall, though maybe not quite as tall as Present Mic, but much paler. On top of his head was messy shoulder length black hair that had a few strands that acted as bangs on his face. The tired look on his face reminded her of Mera, but this guy's black eyes were bloodshot even. Around his lips and along his jawline, he had a short unkempt stubble that seemed to match his appearance.

His hero uniform was pretty simple with a long sleeved shirt and matching pants that were tucked into tight looking boots. Around his waist was a grey utility belt and around his neck was a scarf that wrapped around several times from his shoulders up to his chin.

"Yamada, Aizawa, this is Kit. She just graduated this year from U.A. and hopefully will also become a new staff member." He introduced, looking between the three pro heroes.

"Heeey, Little Listener!" Present Mic's greeting would've made her ears flatten against her head if they were showing, "You might know me from my Friday night radio show outside of my hero work called 'Put Your Hands up Radio'!"

Kit bit her lip a little in embarrassment, "Actually, I don't, I'm sorry." She let her eyes settle on Aizawa for a moment, "But I have heard of Eraser Head."

"Oh-ho?" Mic had seemed disappointed at first that she hadn't heard of him, but when she mentioned Eraser Head, his mood perked again as he rounded on the dark hero to throw an arm around his shoulders, "Lookie there, Shouta! You seem to have yourself a little fan."

"I-ah, no, I mean… I respect the idea of underground hero work." She stuttered slightly, "I don't plan to register for the billboards either."

Aizawa's features didn't change much as he pushed Yamada's arm off of him, then fixed his bored gaze on her, "What is your actual name? If we are going to be working together, we may as well know your name too."

She tilted her head slightly forward to hide her face with her bangs, "I go by Kit full time."

"Aw, you're no fun." Yamada whined.

"Mm, yes, Kit entering school was registered with the same name." Nezu said out loud thoughtfully, "Her caretakers sent me several messages insisting on this."

His dull eyes looked over her outfit blandly, "I guess I simply do not understand your name then. What is your quirk, Kit?"

"Oh, right." Her cyan eyes glowed for a second and her fox features came into view.

"Kit is the Kitsune Magic Hero." Nezu's voice held a hint of pride, "She is a rare quirk case where she carries two types of quirks; emitter and mutations. Her quirk is quite extensive."

Yamada and Aizawa were both transfixed on her new appearance and Kit resisted the urge to change back, "I usually keep a complete human appearance outside of school to draw less attention to myself."

"You got somethin' to hide, Little Listener?" Yamada raised a teasing eyebrow at her, and then laughed, "Or maybe it is to keep everyone from drooling all over you."

"Stop making inappropriate jokes towards her, Hizashi." Aizawa pushed off the wall to sit in Yamada's abandoned chair, "Can't you tell you're making her uncomfortable?"

"Eh, sorry." Yamada muttered under his breath.

Kit's tails ticked slightly as she watched the two interact with each other and she could tell they had a lot of history. While their personalities were polar opposites from each other, they seemed to bounce off each other rather well.

Nezu clapped his paws together, turning to Kit, "So, did you come to me with an answer about my offer, Kit?"

She looked down at him again, almost forgetting why she was even there in the first place, "Ah, yes. I accept your offer for the position." She received a wide smile, "I only ask that I have a few days though since I am currently searching for a place to move to that is closer."

"Of course!" Nezu nodded, understandingly, "I'll have all the paperwork you'll need to fill out ready for you in several days. Just give me a call when you are ready."

"Thank you." Kit told him gratefully.

"Our friend, Midnight, is actually looking for a new roommate." Yamada's voice was much less excitable than before, "While teacher salary isn't awful, it is always easier to have a roommate." He lifted a hand out to her as if trying to convince her, "And you wouldn't have to be alone."

"I've never exactly had an issue being alone." She said plainly, but cracked him a small smile anyway, "I have already looked at a couple of options within my budget. Thank you for the idea, though."

"Well, if it doesn't end up working out, let us know." Mic returned her smile.

"Thank you." She gave him a short bow, and then looked to Nezu, "I don't mean to cut this short, but I need to go since my caregiver is needing me today."

"I won't take any more of your time then." Nezu began to walk to the door to open it for her.

Kit turned and started to walk out before turning to give a short bow to Aizawa, "It was a pleasure to meet you as well, Eraser Head."

"You as well." He murmured back.

She straightened up and as she did, her fox features seemed to melt away before she left the room.
