New Home

Some days later, Kit leaned up against the sidewall of a gate to a small estate that had been deemed fit for her. At the moment, several movers were carrying in boxes and furniture from a small moving truck that was parked on the side of the street. The rest of the street was rather quiet, thankfully, giving off a peaceful atmosphere.

She looked back at the beautiful home with a sigh. Personally, she didn't think she needed a home so large, but the Commission had insisted since it was the closest property to the school within the area. She ultimately shrugged it off since she wasn't paying for it. The only other thing that rubbed her the wrong way was that she had a maid of sorts that was there to keep the place clean and cook for her. She reminded Kit a lot of Aiko from when she was younger, but Kit believed that this maid was there to keep an eye on her as well. Maybe she was just paranoid, she wasn't sure.

But what she did know was that the Commission was trying to butter her up; she had received her first assignment from them, though it was more of a long term one. With her employment at U.A., she was to inform them of any major events that happen within the walls. Obviously she hoped that nothing did happen, but this was exactly what her training was for. Outside of that, the safety of the students and staff was her top priority. According to Mera, they had been trying to get eyes inside of U.A. for years and she had been the first one to successfully be employed.

Her ears twitched to the side as she heard footsteps, but she didn't pay attention to it until she heard her name called, "Kit?"

Her eyes popped open to see Aizawa walking her way with a grocery bag in hand, "Hello, Eraser Head."

He stopped next to her and took in the moving truck and movers, "Were you hired to guard the moving truck or something?"

"Erm, no." She gently pushed herself away from the wall, to turn slightly and look at the house, "This is my new place."

He blinked at her for a few moments, "Are you an heiress or something?"

"Or something." She threw a grin at him over her shoulder, "It's good to see you. What are you doing in this area?"

"This is one of the areas that Yamada and I typically patrol." He turned slightly to motion down the street, "I live a block over that way with Yamada, though it isn't as grand as this place."

Kit shrugged, "I didn't really ask for this, but this is what I got." When he casted a confused look her way, but she just shook her head, "Don't mind me, Eraser Head."

He stuffed his free hand in his pocket, looking away from her, "I know that we do not know each other very well, but if you ever need to talk to someone, you can come find me." His lips tilted up slightly as he looked back her way, "And please call me Aizawa outside of official hero business."

She couldn't stop the grin that spread across her face, "I thought I was the councilor, not you." He grunted in response, but Kit toned the grin down a little, "The same goes for you though."

They stood there in silence for several minutes when the maid that was hired to assist her came jogging her way with a cell phone in hand, "Master Mera and Madam President are on the phone for you. It's important."

Kit quickly took the phone, groaning lightly as she didn't want Aizawa to think she was something big or important, "Um…" She casted him an apologetic look, "I'm sorry, but I have to take this. I'll see you around?"

"I'll at least see you at the meeting tonight, correct?" At her sharp nod, he started to walk away, "Don't let me keep you from an important phone call. I will see you later, Kit."

Kit quickly bowed his way before lifting the phone to her ear, "Ah, hello! I'm sorry about the delay…"

She had been starting to head back in when she noticed out of the corner of her eye that Aizawa had stopped to look back at her for a moment before moving on.

Making her way through the hall towards the meeting hall, Kit ticked her claws against the buckle of her belt. Today was the annual banquet that introduced the theme for the year, go over a generalized plan and agenda for the year, introduce new staff, and several other things. She personally hated having any attention towards her, but unfortunately, individuality within U.A. was extremely important. The only thing she was thankful about was that she didn't have to dress up for the event and could just wear her hero costume.

The closer she got to the opened double doors for the meeting hall, the louder the chattering of the people inside got. She paused just on the outside to take a deep breath before taking a few steps inside to look around. The room was dim, but obviously bright enough to chat and mingle, and for some reason this helped her relax a little. Many of the teachers and other staff were standing in small groups intermingling, some groups larger than others. The only part of the room that was lit up was the stage that was currently empty besides a podium.

Her eyes roamed some of the others in the room and realized that no one seemed to have noticed her. Maybe she could go hide in a corner and wait out this entire thing without being noticed too much. She mentally 'tsked' herself at the thought since unfortunately she would be one of the staff members that would be introduced.

She looked off to a corner that was empty and began to make her way until she heard a loud, "Hey, Kit!" Out of reflex, she ducked her head for a second before turning to look where the Voice Hero's call came from, "Come over here!"

Several of the other staff members that were talking to each other paused in their conversations to look her way, causing her tails to twitch behind her. Lowering her head, she stiffly made her way over to the blond, thinking about clawing out his vocal cords. When she got closer, there were several other people standing with him, including Aizawa.

"Hello, Yamada." Kit greeted him kindly despite the embarrassment, then looked at everyone else, "Hello, everyone."

"Oh, Kit!" Her eyes were drawn to a familiar female pro hero, "I just heard that you were going to be the new councilor here. That's exciting. Congratulations!"

Kit noticed that she stopped in a spot that seemed to complete the circle of the group and looked to the woman, "Thank you, Ms. Kayama. It's good to see you."

"Oh, please, no Ms. We are coworkers now, not teacher-student." She flipped a hand at her, "Most of the staff calls me Midnight along with some of the students… Well, except for you of course."

Midnight was a very beautiful curvy woman and she knew it, flaunted it even. She was a good several inches taller than Kit, and while she wasn't exactly pale, she was close to it. Her hair was long and layered down to the waist with bangs and was dark purple in color. Her eyes were a sky blue that was framed with a thin red mask that almost reminded Kit of glasses.

Her costume was very tight with a breast less black leotard that came up between her breasts and acted like a collar to her suit. Under this was a white skin tight bodysuit that seems to make her arms, legs, and breasts stand out. On her legs were see through black thigh-high stockings that were attached to a red and gold garter belt that wrapped around her waist instead. On her feet were black knee high heeled boots that added to her already impressive high for a female. On each wrist was unchained handcuffs and her nails were painted a bright red. She wasn't called the R-Rated Hero for nothing.

Kit's face lit up at Kayama's friendliness, then turned to let her eyes rest on Aizawa, "It is good to see you again, Aizawa."

"You as well, Kit." He nodded his head in greeting towards her, and then looked at Kayama, "Was Kit a student of yours?"

"Only for her last year." Kayama answered, looking over at Aizawa with her hip jutted out.

"How was she as a student?" His eyes returned to Kit.

"She was actually a perfect student. Not one bad score in my class or any other from what I heard." Kayama looked like she was thinking back on her, "When I would speak with her homeroom teacher during hero training, they would always say she didn't need the training." Kayama's eyes refocused on Kit where she licked her bottom lip, "She was a very motivated student."

Kit's face lit up in embarrassment from not only the compliment, but also the suggestive tone of her last comment, "I was only reflecting what was taught to me…"

"Is her homeroom teacher here?" Aizawa pressed.

"No, in fact, you are actually taking over their class, Aizawa." Nezu startled them all by walking right up next to Kit, "I'm glad you all could make it tonight." He looked around the group, "When I make the new staff announcements, I would like you to join me on stage for introductions." When the three new teachers nodded, agreeing to do this, he bowed his head slightly, "I'll let you continue to mingle. I'll talk to you all in a few."

Aizawa's eyes roamed back towards Kit, but this seemed to catch the attention of Kayama, "Mm, you seem awful curious about our fox girl here, Aizawa." His eyes snapped to Midnight as she cooed, "Do I sense a crush forming?"

His head seemed to lower a little in his scarf as he shook his head, "No, but out of all the heroes here, she is the only one I know nothing about. I find her… mysterious."

Kit's eyes widened at this and giggled slightly, "I have nothing to hide."

His eyes squinted a fraction for a second, "I think you have plenty."

"Oh?" She challenged.

"You still haven't told us your actual name, Kit." Yamada had been watching the exchange and wanted to join in on the teasing.

Blood drained from her face as she forgot how the subject had been previously brought up only a couple of days earlier. She opened her mouth to retort, but the room darkened a little more and they all looked towards the stage to see Nezu begin to make his way towards the podium.

Once he stepped up onto the stool to help him reach the microphone, he cleared his throat, "Welcome everyone and thank you for coming out this evening for the Annual U.A. School Beginnings meeting. As most of you know, I am Nezu, Principal of this fine educational establishment." Light applause caused him to pause until it died out a few moments later, "Today, I'm going to start with introducing new staff members for the next school year. When I call your name, please stand and join me on stage." He paused, flipping the page that seemed to have been lying on the podium, "Aizawa Shota, Kit, and Yamada Hizashi."

Kit looked at the other two that were to go up with her and nearly yelped when she was forced to follow Aizawa by Yamada putting his hands on her shoulders as he pushed her along, "Let's go, Little Listener."

Before they got to the stage stairs, he let her go, but she twitched her tails at him, "I was going to go… after you."

"Of course you were." He chuckled lightly.

Soon, all three were lined up and Kit had the strong urge to fidget with her tails, but didn't as Nezu began again, "Aizawa Shouta the Erasure Hero: Eraser Head, will be taking over the homeroom class 1-A for the Hero Course." Aizawa blinked a little at his introduction, but bowed to the audience so that Nezu could move on, "The Kitsune Magic Hero: Kit, will be starting a brand new position here at U.A. as a Trauma Counselor." Kit followed Aizawa's lead to bow as well, "And lastly, but certainly not least, Yamada Hizashi, or as I'm sure many of you know him as Present Mic the Voice Hero, will be taking over as the English teacher." Mic bowed quickly only to straighten and point his fingers out to the audience wildly with a big grin, "Let's please give these new Hero Teachers a warm welcome!"

The applause was almost deafening and Kit had to lower her ears, though she didn't wanna be rude. Yamada loved the attention, while Aizawa almost looked as uncomfortable as she did; maybe even more so. Nezu began to make some other statements about some of the teachers that had retired when she felt a hand gently rest on her back. She tensed up at first, but with a tail she was able to determine that Aizawa was the one to do this as it seemed like a comforting gesture.

Nezu looked back towards the three, "You may go on ahead to sit cause we're going to go over some items on the itinerary that I emailed out to everyone."

The hand disappeared as they all began to leave the stage and when they reached the bottom, Aizawa stepped up next to her, "I didn't mean to touch you without your permission, but you looked like you were about to pass out."

"Your touch didn't bother me. I've never done well with attention to myself." She looked up at him through her lashes at him shyly, "Thank you."

They both came to a stop at the table where Yamada and Kayama sat close together chatting and Aizawa looked at the two open seats next to each other, "Would you sit with us?"

"If that is okay with you, Aizawa." Kit also looked at the seats.

He went over to a seat and gestured to it before sitting in the seat next to it, "I wouldn't have asked if I was okay with it."

She blinked at him for a second, but happily made her way to the seat and one she was sitting she whispered, "Thank you for being kind to me."

He openly stared at her for several seconds before giving a sharp nod, and then looked at the stage to listen to the small creature on stage. Kit followed his gaze, but she found herself eyeing him sideways multiple times and had to wonder to herself what made the Erasure Hero so interesting to her. After a few close call eye contacts, she had to force herself to focus on Nezu before she embarrassed herself.

Nezu was on the stage for almost another hour before he began to finish up, "Are there any questions?" When the staff stayed quiet, he put his hands together with a clap, "Well then, our very own wonderful Lunch Rush was kind enough to prepare the dinner for this evening. Thank you!" Everyone clapped when the far end of the meeting hall lit up showing a buffet styled bar with steaming food across it and Lunch Rush standing at the far end, bowing, "Thank you all for coming out and please enjoy the meal."

Conversation began to rise around them as several people stood to go get in the line for the buffet. Kit eyed the direction of the buffet, but remained seated, deciding to wait until the line died down. Pulling her phone out of her back pocket, she placed it on the table, wanting to sit more comfortably.

Aizawa also stayed in his seat and Kit sighed, "Are you looking forward to your first year?"

He leaned forward to put his folded arms on the table, "Kayama was the one who convinced me to apply. It is to be seen if I like it." He looked as if he wanted to put his head in his arms and sleep, "Are you?"

Kit blew out a soft breath, "I'm nervous, but I want to make a difference for the future heroes."

He hummed out and looked as if he was going to say something else, but her phone up bright blue with the I.D. showing 'HPSC Emergency Line'. Aizawa's eyes lingered on it and narrowed slightly at the name, but Kit quickly snatched it off the table with a groan. Quickly hitting the answer button, she sent an apologetic glance Aizawa's way and stood to find a quiet corner.

As soon as she put the phone to her ear, she could hear multiple voices talking in the background before a voice spoke, "Kit, you are requested downtown. We have a hostage situation that we believe you are most suited. Details are being sent to your phone directly."

Her eyes instantly hardened, "I'm on my way." She turned to go towards the exit and nearly ran into Aizawa in the process, "Oh!"

"Sorry." He held up his hands, and then motioned to her phone, "Is everything okay?"

"I'm being called downtown to a hostage situation." She slipped the phone in her pocket as she continued on her way.

"Would you like backup?" He wondered as he followed closely behind her.

"You're more than welcome to come along." She looked back at him for a moment before quickening her pace.

When they reached the outside, they could see exactly where she needed to go since a huge glowing fire acted like a target. After several minutes of running, they arrived on the street where they passed emergency personnel, crying and concerned citizens, and other heroes that were trying to calm the growing crowd.

Kit quickly identified the building that was the focus of the hostage situation since there were several officers and heroes standing outside it. Looking at the business building, it looked like the entire outside was surrounded by a very tall wall of fire, blocking the entrance.

She stopped next to an officer who looked at her and seemed to notice her outfit was a hero costume, so he quickly gave her some basic information, "Male villain of unknown origins holds some kind of fire quirk. We have attempted negotiations, but have received no response so the assumption is he has who he wants inside. There are approximately twenty-two staff members being held hostage." He shook his head with clear frustration, "Every time we go to put out the fire, it starts up only seconds later. We believe this is due to the villain's quirk. We've called for Heroes with a water quirk or fire quirk, but no response yet."

Aizawa frowned a little, "I'm not going to be any help for this." He looked up the all glass building, "There is nowhere to latch my capture weapon to break in…"

"I have this." Kit put a hand up, "I know why I was called specifically."

He looked at her for a moment with curious eyes as she stepped forward towards the building, but he wasn't the only one. As she walked closer to the fire, her eyes began to glow brightly as her own blue flames took over her body, and then when the blue flame disappeared, so did she. She walked around the building, eyeing inside the glass the best she could until she found what looked like an empty room. Placing her hand on the glass, she let it heat up until the glass began to melt away so she could climb inside.

She got to the door of the room and cracked it open quietly to see it lead to a hall. Her ears ticked several directions to listen and finally she could hear coughing and crying coming from the front of the building. Even with her thick boots, her movements were practically silent as she rounded the corner to find herself at the heart of the entire situation. Several people were leaning up against walls, hands covering their noses and mouths, while others were sprawled out on the floor.

In the middle of it all was a man that was maybe only a few inches taller than her and he was holding the collar of a woman who was unconscious in his grasp, dragging her around as he looked through the window outside.

She slowly rounded behind the man, making sure to be careful not to step on the hostages. Not wasting any time, she used a straight hand to hit him hard against the vagus nerve. As he began to fall, Kit's body shimmered into view once again, her tails coming around to acting as a cushion for the woman he dropped. As soon as his body hit the floor, the glowing flames on the outside disappeared, confirming that they were caused by the villain.

Kit looked around at the people around her that were looking towards her with tears in their eyes, "The fire outside should be out."

That was all they were needed to be told before they were all screaming and scrambling as they slammed through the door. She eyed the woman and gently laid the woman out on the floor to look over her wounds, but didn't see anything obvious so she turned her attention to the villain.

Kit pulled out a string from her pocket that she let take the glow of her magic and it began to grow in size so she could restrain the man. She made quick work of it, tying up his hands together and legs, so he wouldn't be able to move.

A few moments later, several armed officers entered the building and instantly locked onto her. They lowered their guns quickly to take care of the villain while another couple motioned for an emergency member to take care of the woman.

"Thank you…?" The officer from before eyed her.

"I'm Kit." She greeted, and then looked through the room, "I didn't see anyone else…" Her ears twitched several directions, "… and I didn't hear anyone else, but I would do a sweep to check."

"Of course, thank you, I'll submit the report for you and the commission should get back to you within a couple of days." He gave her a grateful smile, and then turned to his squad.

She let herself disappear again as she exited the building, looking for her dark haired companion. She was glad she remembered to conceal herself since there were a large number of reporters. It took her several minutes, but she finally spotted him talking to another hero. Before she reached him, the other hero walked away, leaving Aizawa alone.

She stepped up next to him, letting her body shimmer back into view, "Hey."

His eyes widened as she appeared, "Kit." He looked past her towards the building that she had been in previously, and then back to her, "That was quick. Good work."

"Thank you." She looked over her shoulder for a second, "It was relatively easy to deal with." She shrugged with a smile, pulling out her phone to look at the time, "Do you want to go back to the meeting or…?"

"Are you going to go back?" He questioned, stuffing his hands into his pockets as they started to walk away from the scene.

"I don't think so." She noticed a pop-up notification come up on her phone, but ignored it to put her phone back into her pocket, "I think I'm going to go home and shower."

He nodded at her answer, "I'll walk you home and I think I'll go home too." He sent her a slight smirk, "I'm always up for going to bed early."

She gave a breathy laugh at this, "I do too. Naps are my best friend since I get them rarely."

"You'll come to find I nap at any given opportunity." He pointed to his eyes briefly, "Helps with the dry eye."

"Do your eyes get that sticky feeling after using your quirk?" She asked.

"Yeah…" He pulled out a small green bottle of eye drops, "These only help so much."

Kit looked at it, then dug into her pocket to pull out a bottle of the same thing, "When my quirk activates, my eyes glow and for some reason I get some dry eye afterwards too." She put it away again, "Though, not nearly as bad as yours seem to."

"Eh, I've gotten used to it a little over the years." He put his bottle away too.

They walked in relative silence through the streets which didn't bother Kit in the slightest. Sure she could be a talker when she got to know someone, but she also knew how to enjoy the quiet.

They came to the street where her house was and she stopped, looking down the street, "Thank you for walking me home."

"Anytime." Was his reply and was quiet for a moment before he continued, "I usually patrol this area every other day or so… If you ever want to join, let me know."

She gave him a sincere smile, "Thank you. I might actually take you up on that offer to give myself something to do." She turned to start walking the rest of the way home, "Thanks again for coming with me and walking me home. It's nice not to be alone…" She gave a backwards wave, "See you. Get home safely."

He raised a hand in goodbye as well, but didn't say anything else as he began to walk towards his home.
