(3+Years Later)
(As a warning for the future, there will be quotes/spoilers from the anime/manga within the story.)
Ears lowering against her skull at the ambiance from the room, she let her eyes roam over the mass of students in front of her. None of them really stood out to her from the crowd except when one student called out another for mumbling too much.
Normally, she would be with the other staff members in the observation room, but this year, the tension was thick due to a new staff member. But in reality, sometimes it was best to see the students in person anyway.
Present Mic had just begun his presentation to them to greet them and she couldn't help but laugh when he attempted to interact with them, he got a dead response. He finally gave up on trying to break the ice with them and began to explain the concept of the exam these kids were about to start. After giving the school motto and a quote from a former hero, he dismissed them to go to their assigned battle locations.
He exited the stage once most of the students had left the room, his shoulders slumped a little as he looked at her, "I swear kids these days are so hard to satisfy."
Kit giggled behind a hand, "I can tell and you tried so hard."
He pouted at her, and then sighed dramatically as he continued on, "I better get out there before I hear any grumbling students. It might make me raise my voice."
She followed him halfway, but split from him and went ahead towards the observation room. When she entered, Nezu was casually talking to the other staff members from his chair. She looked to the side of the room where Aizawa stood leaning against the wall, his eyes closed as if napping.
Coming up to his side, she leaned on the wall next to him, "Did any of them stand out to you?"
His eyes opened lazily to look over at her, "None ever really do." His eyes then lowered from the screen to land on a lanky blond male sitting on Nezu's left, "This year already feels like it will be trouble though."
Kit followed his gaze to land on said man that had caused the original tension and couldn't help but agree with him. His name was Yagi Toshinori, but most people knew him as All Might, the number one hero in Japan. This year was his first year at U.A. as a Heroics teacher, but it had been kept a secret from the public to keep the media away from the school. Apparently, he was soon to retire due to an injury from years previous but again, this was to be kept under lock-and-key.
Because of this injury he received, he had two forms. In his larger form, or empowered form, he was a very large man. He was extremely muscular and had a well-defined physique. He had short blond hair that he swept backwards with two strips of hair that stuck up above his head near his forehead. The areas around his eyes were often dark, but his eyes were bright blue.
His hero outfit was a skin-tight body suit that was blue accented with white, red, and yellow areas. There was a red patch on his abdomen that lined up and split several ways towards his shoulders and neck, leaving a white diamond center. On the sides of his hips, from the hip bone to mid-thigh, was a white patch lined in red and across his hips a yellow belt that looked like it had red eyes. The forearm sleeves were the same gold color of his hair with white and blue accents towards the wrist, and they had spike to them that reminded her of his hair. His feet were covered in golden boots that were accented with white and red and they reached right below his knees.
Currently though, he was in what was deemed his 'true' form which he held most of the time now. With his health getting worse, his body in this form showed him to be very skinny, lacking almost any muscles. His features were very sharp and his eyes seemed to sink even further into his face. The suit he wore currently was baggie so that he could go into his muscular form if needed.
Kit shrugged, "Hopefully I won't have to deal with him directly. He draws too much attention to himself."
The screen caught her attention as it began to focus on the examinees as they entered their battle areas. It took several students no time to find their first targets, quickly racking up the points. Some of the staff began to make small comments about several of them and the time passed rather quickly even for them. Several students were automatically disqualified by attacking other students, while some others seemed frozen in fear.
A teacher made a small comment that caught her attention, "Their true test is still to come."
A button was pressed and the reaction on the screen was almost instant as a large robot forced its way towards the kids. This part was usually the part of the battle exam that was a make or break for some of the students, no matter how many points they had.
Several boxed screens flashed to show different students, but one student caught everyone's attention during this as he jumped to attack this robot that was not worth any points. What made the breath catch in her chest was after this green haired boy attacked the robot to protect a girl, he began to rapidly fall to the earth, looking very broken.
She released the breath when the very girl he saved, saved him in return with her quirk. It was directly after that, that the time was officially up for the exam.
The lights brightened in the room and Nezu stood to address the staff, "We will start the reviews of the examinees tomorrow morning at 08:00 sharp. You are dismissed."
Kit only could shake her head, "I thought we were going to have the first death during the exams."
"He would've died if not for that girl." Aizawa agreed, pushing off the wall, "I'm going out early to patrol; you want to join me?"
"Sure!" She yipped happily after him, "Is Hizashi going to join us?"
"I'm not sure." He muttered, seeming as if he wasn't really wanting the loud man to join him.
"I'll go ask him. I'll meet you out front?" She offered.
He gave her a nod then began to walk away, "I'll see you out there."
She quickly wove through the halls and came to a room where Present Mic should still be for after exam questions. Before she could enter, a young girl exited his room that she recognized as the same girl who was saved by the green haired boy. She looked rather distressed about something and walked right by her as if she was invisible, but lifting her hand she knew she wasn't.
She popped her head into the room and noticed there was no one else, "Hizashi? Are you finished?"
"Eh? Yeah, I'm done." He was zipping up a bag before he then slung it over his shoulder to leave the room, "What's up?"
"Shouta and I are going to go on an early patrol; wanna come?" She asked, following him after he closed up the room and began to make his way down the hall.
He shook his head and motioned to the bag on his shoulder, "I'm going to get started on the paperwork I have to do early." He let out a sigh, "I had a girl offer to give some of her points to another examinee just a bit ago. I almost wish I could've; she was very sincere."
"The girl that just left a few minutes ago?" At his nod, she couldn't help but smile softly, "Aw, that's sweet."
"I tried to reassure her as best I could, but she still seemed rather worried." He grumbled.
"I'm sure she will be fine." Kit bumped a tail against his shoulder.
They made it out front where Aizawa turned to them, "Is he coming with us?"
"No, he has things he needs to do." Kit poked the bag with her tail.
He looked up at the humbled blond male, "Would you rather me help with that tonight?"
"Nah, there weren't that many rule breakers this year." He shook his head with raised hands, "I'll see you at home afterwards."
Aizawa raised a hand to him then, "Good luck with it then." He lowered his hand and looked at Kit, "Ready?"
"Always!" Kit chased after him as he took off towards his patrol area.
Over the last three years working together with Aizawa and Yamada, she became very close with them. If she wasn't out patrolling with one or both of them, they were hanging out at each other's homes. She usually worked more with Aizawa since he was the homeroom teacher for the hero course and she acted sometimes as an assistant, but she made it up to Yamada by sometimes going with him just to sit during his radio show.
Of course, she worked with the other staff of the school, but most of her time was with the two. She worked a bit with Vlad, but he didn't seem to need her, not that Aizawa did either, but when she offered he often denied her. He was a prideful man. Aizawa most of the time took advantage of her help so he could finish with the class early and curl up in his sleeping bag.
She gave Aizawa a sideways glance as she ran slightly behind him and to the side. Catching herself, she dragged her eyes away from him as she mentally sighed. With the time spent, she hadn't noticed at first, but recently she had begun to see him in a different light. In almost the same light, in fact, that she had seen Hawks in and that was the last thing she needed. It didn't help that she spent most of her days with him, but she tried to keep herself in check.
They reached the perch that they usually would use as a vantage point to look over the area within a short amount of time. They went around from building top to another, looking for trouble, until it began to quickly become dark. When they arrived back at the first spot they had started in, they both seemed to notice that there was no moon tonight, making it much darker than normal. This usually made the villains seem more comfortable to come out.
Aizawa suddenly crouched down to look at something in the distance and Kit walked up behind him to see what he saw, "What is it?"
"There are two men standing outside of that convenience store there. It looks like they're arguing." He pointed over to a small shop where she now saw what he was looking at, "Can you hear what they are saying from here?"
Kit knelt on the ledge next to him, darting her ears forward, "Mm, they're talking too softly." But that changed quickly when one man started yelling at the one next to him, "Uh…"
They both jumped down to intervene when the second man pulled back his fist and small little holes opened up to shoot water at the man. The first man's arm reshaped into what looked like an oversized bee stinger and just as it was about to make contact with the water user, it disappeared.
Kit watched as Aizawa's capture belt flew by her as she went to pounce on the water user. Unfortunately, while Aizawa stopped the first man's quirk, the water user could still use his and it turned on her soaking her to the bone. She hissed about this, but quickly pulled out a small plastic box with small holes from her pocket that had an open bottom. Throwing it into the air, she used her magic to make it grow in size to land over the man, effectively trapping him inside. When he attempted to point his fist out one of the air holes, she quickly placed a hand on the box to shrink the size to where his arms were stuck to his sides.
"That bastard is drunk as hell and kept begging me to sell him more alcohol after hours!" The water user yelled her way, "I was just trying to cool him off so he would go away. I did nothing wrong."
Aizawa quickly tied off the first man with his capture belt, "According to the laws, you did since you used your quirk on someone without a license… and you technically attacked her." Aizawa motioned towards her as she attempted to wring out one of her eight tails, "I think you did plenty wrong."
"I didn't mean to attack your girlfriend, man!" The man exclaimed, and then mumbled afterwards, "She just startled me."
"I'm not his girlfriend." She mumbled, a blush rising to cheeks.
Aizawa looked over towards her as if he didn't hear anything, "Would you make the call?"
Kit pulled her phone out of her pocket, "Oh good, it isn't wet." She quickly dialed for the police and they informed her that they would send someone out to them, then put her phone away to look down at herself, "This is frustrating…"
"Can't you just use your fire to dry off?" Aizawa also eyed her soaked form for a few moments.
"That is a downside to the fire side of my quirk." She sighed, "I can't start a flame if I'm wet. I'm just lucky that my quirk powers are connected to my tails so I could use my illusions."
Two squad cars pulled up with flashing lights a few minutes later and quickly took their statements. After the owner of the store was called, they quickly loaded the two into separate cars after Kit released him from the box and drove them away. It took a long time for the store owner to get to them, but when he got there he thanked them adamantly and even gave them some food and drinks to take with them.
They got back up to their look out spot and Kit walked to the side to shake off almost like a dog. One of her major weaknesses was obviously water, so outside of showering and bathing, she tended to avoid it. What made it worse was that it was early April and the weather was still rather cool. That's all she needed was to get sick before the school year began.
"Here…" Kit nearly jumped out of her skin as she didn't realize he had come closer, "Use this to dry off."
Kit eyed the fabric as she took it and recognized it as a black singlet, "U-uh…" She stuttered horribly, "T-thank you."
She looked back up at him to notice he had unzipped the upper half of his uniform to take off the singlet for her. She had originally thought that his top and bottoms were two separate clothing, but apparently she had been wrong even after knowing him all this time.
He gave her a sharp nod before going back to his vantage point where the bag of snacks were and pulled out a small packaged fruit drink. Without his loosely fitting top on, Kit could see the defined muscles all along his upper body, causing butterflies to erupt in her stomach. His muscles were lean and with each movement he made, they flexed very obviously. She had to mentally remember to swallow a few times.
Bringing his shirt up to her face, she couldn't help but sniff it discreetly before placing it over her head to rub her hair and ears. She took her time doing this, letting some of it 'accidently' fall in front of her nose so she could take another smell of his manly musk. That was the only way she could describe it. He clearly wore some kind of cologne that was sharp to her nose, but she found it pleasant to smell all the same since it was mixed with his natural scent as well.
Once she pretty much couldn't get her head anymore dry, she began to work on her tails as she walked his way, but noticed he didn't zip his top back up "You're not cold are you?"
"I'm fine." He shook his head lifting a part of his scarf up, "This keeps me plenty warm."
"Mm, okay." Kit sat next to him as she worked his shirt over each tail.
The rest of the night thankfully went uneventful and soon they were walking home. He had given her the bag of snacks after grabbing a couple more of the fruit drinks, stating that he wasn't a big snack type person, so she took them happily. Along the way, he had finally put his arms through the sleeves, but still left it partially opened.
They reached her street and he turned to face her, "Good work tonight. Sorry you got wet."
Kit went to look him in the face, but it took her a minute since she got distracted by the smooth planes of chest that was still uncovered right in front of her, "Eh," She lifted her eyes to see an amused look on his face, causing her to jump, "Oh, yeah, don't worry about it." She held up his shirt, "I'll have this cleaned for you by tomorrow."
"Don't push yourself too hard." He huffed out a small chuckle at her embarrassment, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Shouta." She told him as she then made her way to her home.
She quickly showered, though she really wondered if she needed one, and dried off using a dryer this time. Before she went to bed, she quickly went to put his shirt in the washer, but before she put it in, she took another big whiff of it. She almost took another drag, but she threw it in the machine before she couldn't stop herself. She only stayed up long enough after that to dry it and then hang it up so it didn't get wrinkled then went to pass out on the bed.
Over the next week, the U.A. staff became busy looking over as assessing the teenagers who took the mock battle exams. Outside of the points they earned by taking on the robots, there were several other things to take into consideration. They had to bring down a couple hundred students down to a total of thirty-six to split between the two hero classes that needed to be filled.
It was the final day of the reviews and Kit was once again leaning up against the back wall with Aizawa. He was watching the screen with narrow eyes, judgment clearly there.
"You already don't look too happy with this turn out." Kit murmured softly to him.
His eyes slid to her for a moment, and then back to the screen, "I think they've become too soft on the idea of being a hero."
Kit rubbed her arm with her hand, "Boy, I'm glad you were not my teacher." The corner of his lip curled up at this for a second and Kit giggled lightly before pushing off the wall, "I've already turned in my review for this one so I'm going to my office. I'll see you later?"
"Sure." Kit could feel his eyes watch her leave, but decided to ignore it as she attempted to tell her heart to calm down.
Thankfully, Kit didn't get many students coming to her with trauma or issues on the first day. So she usually used the first couple days observing the students to get a feel about them.
Currently, she was standing outside the gate to the field a little away to not distract the students while she watched an almost sadistic smile come over Aizawa's face as he spoke to them. She could only shake her head at this, knowing he got a little pleasure out of teasing the students; though some would call it torture instead.
Much to the disappointment of Aizawa, they increased the student acceptance by two per class, giving him twenty students. When he first received his student list, he brought the list to Kit and asked her if he was counting right. When she confirmed that there were twenty names, he stomped off towards Principal Nezu's office.
Kit watched the entire apprehension test that Aizawa did every year that seemed to make the students sweat. He seemed to be particularly hard on Midoriya, the green haired boy from the exams that stood out, and she couldn't help but feel bad for the kid. When Aizawa wanted you to feel the pressure of being in a hero course, he was relentless about it. But, even in the end, Aizawa looked semi impressed with him.
Midoriya Izuku was pretty short considering his age, but she figured he still had time to grow. He was such a lean kid that if she didn't see the muscle on his biceps, she would have believed he had none at all. He had a short mess of curly green hair that stuck up in multiple places. He had very large eyes with green irises, matching the color of his hair that gave him an innocent look. Below those eyes was a formation of freckles on each cheek. While the kids haven't shown their hero costumes yet, his large bulky red shoes were a constant in his outfits.
There came a lax moment after Midoriya's ball throw and Kit took this opportunity to go up to Aizawa. She made her way around the fence and when she stopped by his side, his eyes flashed down to her almost as if surprised to see her. When he realized it was her, he took a bottle of eye drops out of his pocket to drip some in each eye.
"You know… Half of the trauma cases I get come from you torturing these kids." She joked.
This actually brought a chuckle out of his chest, "I do it for a good reason, I assure you." He put the bottle of eye drops back in his pocket, "It also helps keep your position here at U.A."
"Hey!" Kit gasped at the taunt, and then looked over his class, spotting the cute girl that the green haired boy, Midoriya she came to find out, had saved, "Oh, I'm glad she made it into the school. I think she is rather adorable."
The girl's name was Uraraka Ochaco. She was short with fair skin and cute feminine build. He had shoulder length auburn hair that curled inwards at the ends with two longer strands coming down directly on the sides of her face with short bangs. She had large eyes that matched the color of her hair with thick eyelashes and below her eyes her cheeks seemed to be naturally flushed. If you looked closely at the pads on her finger tips, you would notice had an even smaller pink pad, where she activated and deactivated her quirk; Zero Gravity.
"Being adorable doesn't make you a good hero." He was back to grumbling.
"Aw, but I was hoping my being adorable helped me be a good hero." Kit teased.
He shook his head at her attics, "You being adorable is besides the point…Thankfully, her quirk seems to be practical."
Kit opened her mouth to reply, but nearly choked as she realized that he actually insinuated that she was adorable. Her entire face lit up and she had to look away so as to not get noticed, but when she did, she saw a familiar head peeking around the corner of the main building. He didn't seem to notice that she saw him, but his eyes kept following someone within the class, but she couldn't tell who.
Deciding to ignore this, thinking the new teacher was simply curious about the hero course students, she looked back at the class, "Don't be too rough with them."
"Don't spoil my fun." He mumbled sarcastically, before moving off to address the students again.
She stuck her tongue out at him before making her way around the building. All Might jumped as she rounded the corner, looking like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but Kit simply shook her head at him before walking by him with a flick of her tail. She would leave Aizawa to deal with him since it was his class that All Might was interested in.
