Once it had been revealed to the public that the number one hero in Japan was a new teacher at U.A., the front of the school was crowded by reporters and other types of media. This was stressful to the staff since they not only questioned the students that were trying to make their way to class; it blocked the staff from getting in too. A few of the students stopped to actually answer questions, but it was most likely feeling the pressure to not be rude.
Kit had been walking through the gate when they had stopped her and Aizawa. She had nearly died when the female reporter commented about him being scruffy. So, she kept walking a little ways to wait inside the gate for him to prevent herself from laughing in front of a camera. It didn't help that even when he walked away from them that the same reporter made another comment about his scruffy appearance. That same reporter, though, activated the U.A. barrier and Kit silently was thankful to whoever thought of the idea.
Kit's cheeks puffed out and Aizawa eyed her, "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay; thanks for asking, Scruffy." Kit then burst out laughing, unable to help herself.
Red eyes focused on her, making her tails go limp behind her, "Don't make me come up with a less than flattering nickname for you too."
"I couldn't help myself." Kit sent him an apologetic smile, "I think the scruffy look suits you."
As he blinked, his quirk deactivated, his hair coming to rest on his shoulders again, "Why do you think I keep it that way?"
She shook her head as they stopped outside her office that was on the main floor, "Should I expect any students from your class today?"
He stared at her for a moment before stalking off to ignore her jesting question, "I'll see you at lunch."
Only one student had come to see her and it was over something that was actually quite simple, though she never viewed any student's trauma as 'simple'. Trauma was never easy, especially for the one going through the trauma, but in this case, it wasn't psychological trauma. A young first year student from general studies had female questions and didn't feel comfortable enough to talk to Hounddog about it.
Kit had been running late for lunch when suddenly the alarm bells started going off, "There has been a Level 3 security breach. All students please evacuate outdoors promptly."
She growled lightly as she quickened her pace to roundabout to the front doors when she saw Aizawa and Present Mic holding back those same reporters from that morning. Deciding they were the best for that situation, Kit's ears picked up a student's voice telling the others that it was just the media. She decided to go and help deal with that instead.
When she reached the hallway where the mass of students were still gathered, she held up her hands, "Please head back into the lunchroom to finish your lunches!" She looked up above her as a shuffling sound caught her attention to see a student of Aizawa's, "How in the world…"
It took time since not all of them could hear her, but after a few of the other students relayed the message back, the hall was then cleared. After the other students left, she went to a utility closet to pull out a ladder so he could get down safely.
"Thank you, Ms. Kit." The blue haired boy bowed to her, "I could've jumped down, but I don't want to risk landing wrong."
While she didn't know Iida Tenya well quite yet, he came across as a very disciplined, intelligent and honor bound boy. He was quite tall with short blue hair with a small undercut, that he kept well groomed. Above his blue eyes were thin eyebrows, with the far ends looking like they were hooked upward, making his gaze look very serious. Over his eyes were rectangular glasses with a very thin frame. The rest of his body looked normal until you looked at his calves, where his quirk became noticeable. They were extremely thick and shaped like a car or motorcycle engines with six silver exhaust pipes sticking out of each one.
Kit smiled at him as she folded the ladder up, "I should be the one thanking you, Iida, you handled the panic situation very well." She motioned to his legs, "And I wouldn't have wanted you to jump anyway; while Recovery Girl would have healed any minor injury, we should still keep the damage low." She picked up the ladder and began to walk away to put it away, "Enjoy the rest of your lunch."
Kit put away the ladder and made her way outside to watch as the final member of the media was put into a squad car. Mic was mocking them lightly, but Aizawa looked irritated as ever with his eyes on the massive hole within the security gate.
They had started to walk out towards the gate, but stopped when they were called, "Kit, Eraser Head, would you please join Hounddog and Ectoplasm in a quick sweep of the grounds? Yamada, would you go make sure the students have been informed as to what happened to keep them calm?" Kit turned to see Nezu walking up towards them followed by Midnight, Recovery Girl and Thirteen, "I'm sure that no one got any further than the main door, but I would rather be safe than sorry."
"Sure." Kit gave a single nod along with Aizawa and Yamada.
Kit let herself catch flame, but instead of disappearing, two other identical copies of herself walked from the fire. This was the more complicated part of her illusion magic, but it was handy to have sometimes, especially in situations like this. The only down side of duplicating herself is that it was only a physical representation of herself; so her duplicates couldn't use her quirk or even speak.
After walking the grounds with her main form for a few, Aizawa had to cut his search short to return to class to prepare for the special training that afternoon. He had received a message that while All Might had been off duty that day, the plans changed because of the incident, and was called in to join Aizawa and Thirteen. Since this special training was off campus, she figured they wanted to take every precaution to keep the students safe.
Aizawa had invited her to join them, but with All Might and Thirteen already going with him, she decided to stay at campus for the rest of her students and to give her little heart a break. Anyway, three pro hero teachers should be enough to handle a class of a mere twenty students.
Today would be the first set of rescue exercises that the students would be taking part in. It was being hosted by Thirteen, the Space Hero, and this took place at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint building or more commonly known as the USJ. It was a massive building that was so large; they couldn't build the concept on U.A. grounds, so you had to take a bus a few miles away to get there.
Thirteen was a mystery to Kit since she didn't know if anyone there at U.A. had seen what she looked like under her suit. Her costume was very much like a space astronauts', but much puffier and the top wasn't connected to the bottom. The top where her head would be was a glass dome and it looked as if her eyes were just two large white spots. Her pants ended just high enough to show thin legs that seemed to be covered in leggings or socks and her feet were covered with yellow shoes.
Kit had just finished her sweep of the grounds as she came back up to the main gate once again when she happened to glance out the gate to see a dust cloud coming from down the road. Taking a few steps to get a better look, she recognized the boy from earlier, Iida, making his way towards the school with a fierce expression on his face. Instantly, her blood ran cold since he should've been with the rest of the class several miles away.
"Ms. Kit!" He skidded to a stop in front of her, "Villains… Invaded USJ… So many of them…"
Before he could get anything else out Kit was over at the gate to open a panel to show a button labeled 'EMERGENCY'. She held her finger on it as another alarm sounded through the school for the second time that day. Kit walked back over to Iida to try and help him calm down as he was having a hard time catching his breath because of his anxiety, but soon they were surrounded by several of the pro hero teachers.
Kit looked at the teachers to tell them what was going on, but then her eyes zoned in on a certain blond haired number one man, "I thought you were supposed to be with class 1-A at the USJ?"
Nezu actually gave a guilty look, "I believe that may be my fault… But why was the alarm pulled?"
Iida began to give the basic run down with the little details that he had been able to give her, plus a little more. Before he could finish, All Might's form changed before he took to the sky and then was followed by several other heroes. Nezu had instructed some of the other teachers to stay on campus, and then climbed up on Hounddog to join the other teachers as well.
She followed close behind since she wasn't told she needed to stay, but her heart beat was almost painful in her chest as she thought about what was going on. She couldn't get there fast enough it seemed like, seeming like hours, but once she finally got there she could hear Mic's quirk going off along with several explosions.
When she stepped inside her name was called, "Kit," Her eyes were drawn to Power Loader, "Come with me; I'm going to the fire zone!"
Power Loader, Maijima Higari, was called the Evacuation Hero and when you saw his appearance, it matched. He is a very small, skinny man that looked rather young despite him actually being in his forties. He has orange hair that was spiked past his shoulders with blue eyes and a wide mouth. His hands were very much disproportionate to his small body but that was because on this tip of his fingers held his quirk. They were small burnt orange 'L' shaped hard pieces that he used for digging into the earth.
For his costume, he wore an oversized yellow helmet that looked like an excavator claw from construction machinery. He was always shirtless, making her wonder how he worked in the winter, and his hands were covered by gray fingerless gloves with metal guards along the arm. He also wore a pair of dark blue-green pants that oddly enough complimented the rest of his costume.
She followed closely behind him as they made their way there, only having to deal with two villains that were no match for the quick knock out that Kit gave them. Once they got to the fire zone, Kit stepped ahead of him to use her tails to snuff out the fire enough to make a path.
"Mr. Maijima! Ms. Kit!" Both Kit and Maijima looked over to see Ojiro standing over a few villains that were clearly knocked out.
Ojiro Mashirao was a muscular kid with short blond hair that swept towards the front of his head. He had small black eyes that were rather thin. At the base of his spine was a rather large tail with blond fur at the end that reminded her of an oversized lion tail.
Maijima gave a quick look to Kit, "Look to see if there are any more students and I'll take care of him. Keep an eye out for more villains."
While Kit looked for anymore students, she would quickly restrain any villains she saw so they didn't get any smart ideas if they woke up. Thankfully, it seemed as if Ojiro was the only student that was within the fire zone, so she made her way back to him and Maijima.
"I think I have it here if you would escort him towards the exit. I'm sure Nezu has more that he would want help with." Maijima gave her quick instructions.
"Sure." Kit motioned for the student to follow her, "Stick close just in case."
They had no issues getting back up to the exit and found Nezu standing with Vlad King, "What do you want me to do?"
Nezu linked his paws behind his back as his eyes stayed down the stairs, "Go out to the students and see to their needs and make sure they're okay. I'm sure this spooked some of them."
"Yes, sir." Kit motioned for Ojiro for him to go outside as well.
More students were escorted out by other staff and one by one, she pulled them to the side to check on them. While she spoke with them, dozens of police vehicles and prison buses showed up and officers flooded the USJ to start taking in the villains. She had been talking with a student when she noticed a couple of other vehicles pull up as well, causing her to become momentarily distracted, as she noted two were school nurse transportation vans and the other two were actual ambulances. She did notice, however, that they were already pushing stretchers inside of the building making her wonder what students were injured.
She finished with the students just as the first stretcher began to be pushed out of the stadium causing her to have to block the students from crowding them to see who was on it. When she finally got the students under control, she looked over her shoulder to notice the Space Body suit of Thirteen torn open from the back laying on her stomach on a stretcher.
Her eyes darted back to the students before her and noticed that all of them were here except for one that she could count. That was when she heard another stretcher being hauled out and when she saw the dark haired man she had come to care for more than just as a friend on it, she couldn't hold back the low whine in her throat. Thankfully, the students seemed to be distracted enough not to notice her slip up since as a hero she was to be the vision of calm and collected. He looked bruised, bloody, and broken while he lay on the stretcher clearly unconscious.
Kit decided then that the students needed to move further from the door so they didn't get traumatized by simply seeing their teachers in such a state, "Okay, everyone, let's move ourselves a little more that way so there is plenty of room for the professionals to work."
It was actually a good thing they did move since about ten minutes later they started bringing the villains out in small groups. Among the groups, unnoticed by the students, U.A. bots pulled out two stretchers, one with Yagi on it and the other had Midoriya. With them being brought out by school stretchers, she knew their injuries were not that serious, but Midoriya looked pretty bad in her eyes.
Another squad car then pulled up, pulling her attention to it and when the door opened, she recognized Tsukauchi Naomasa, the detective. He looked like the average Japanese man, though he was taller than most, with short black hair and dark colored eyes. He was rather plain looking.
He was often seen in a tan overcoat with a matching hat. Under the coat was a black suit and green tie and dress shoes.
He came directly over to her, "Kit, it is good to see you are safe."
She had dealt with him several times in the past when she did her work studies and internships. He was very professional, yet understanding, and she had seen him more than once bend the rules to make things easier for someone. He was alright in her book for the most part.
Her ears drooped to the side, but she nodded none-the-less, "Yes, though I wish I could've been here to help."
"If only we could tell the future." He sighed, then pulled out a pad of paper, "I need to take a body count of the students here and note any injuries. Do I have your permission to continue?"
"Yes, but if they do not feel comfortable about speaking about what happened, I will put a halt to it." Kit locked eyes with him for a moment.
He cleared his throat, "I'm not asking about what they endured here today, just the injuries."
"Injuries coming from something like this can still cause trauma and that is exactly why I am here." Kit's voice was solid about this.
He stared at her for a few moments before taking off his hat to her in apology, "I will respect your wishes, though if they do not speak now of the injuries, I will need to find out some other way."
"If it comes to that, I will help you find that other way." Kit had the urge to grit her teeth, but she turned her head to the side to look back at the students, "I'm sorry, I think I might be a little emotional.
"That is understandable considering." He put a hand on her upper arm then took a step forward to begin as she moved off to the side and looked over the students.
At that moment, an orange tabby-cat in an officer uniform came up to hand him a paper, "This is the report of those injured that are not here currently."
(QUOTES FROM THE ANIME/MANGA HERE)
"Thank you." He looked back over to the students to begin counting them, "Other than the boy with both legs seriously injured, everyone else seems unharmed. "
As he began to write some things down, the students began to talk quietly among themselves. None of them seemed over stressed which was a relief to her, but trauma could always develop over time. Honestly, the one she worried about was Iida and Midoriya; Iida because he had the pressure that was placed on him to reach the teachers and leave his peers and then Midoriya because something clearly happened to him there.
"Let's have the students return to their classroom for now. We won't be questioning them right away, anyway, right?" Kit looked over to the detective to see him speaking with another officer.
Asui Tsuya hopped closer to the officer, "Detective, what about Mr. Aizawa?"
Asui was a cute, but really short girl, with a slender body and large hands. Her appearance, due to her quirk, was very frog-like with a wide mouth that often had part of her tongue sticking out. She had very wide oval eyes with dark irises. On top of her head was a large mass of dark green hair that reached all the way down to her waist. The end of her hair was knotted like a bow and she had short bangs to frame and accent her face.
Even Kit's ears perked forward to hear about them as the detective, "Let me pull up the recording I was given." The detective looked over to Kit as if to see if that was okay and she gave him a nod, "Here it is…"
The detective hit the speaker button on the phone and held it out so everyone could hear, "Comminuted fractures in both arms and a facial fracture. Fortunately, there does not seem to be any serious brain damage. However, his orbital floor has broken into small pieces, and his eyes might suffer from its aftereffects."
She was sure that her heart stopped; would he be unable to use his quirk because of this? He already had bad dry eye on a good day, but now…
Movement in her peripheral view caught her attention and she looked over to see Mic motioning her over and so she quickly made her way over to him, "Yeah?"
"Nezu wants to talk to us." He informed her.
They walked into the building side by side and when Nezu saw them, he motioned them over, "I'm releasing you two early." At first Kit froze, wondering if she did something wrong, "I think you should go to your friend. We'll take care of the students outside."
Kit gasped and bowed to the chimera, "Thank you!"
"Yes, thank you." Mic also seemed to perk up at this.
It was decided the quickest way to the hospital that Aizawa was at was to take the train. It was only a ten minute ride, but Kit could barely keep still in her seat, causing Yamada to wrap an arm around her shoulders to keep her from moving. Once at the hospital, Kit almost decided to ignore the request to not run and do it anyway, but Mic seemed to keep her grounded.
The both walked up to the room labeled 'Aizawa Shouta' and Mic almost threw open the door to get in, but paused once he was inside, "Aw, buddy…"
Kit followed in slowly behind him and peaked around the tall man, "Shouta…" She then walked around him to go up next to the bed to look over the many bandages that covered his arms and face, "Oh, god… I should've gone with you when you offered… I just thought with Thirteen and All Might…"
"Hey, hey, Little Listener…" Yamada came up behind her, "This isn't your fault; there was no way you could've known this was going to happen. And if he knew, he wouldn't want you to be in danger anyhow."
"But…" Kit felt the hot tears begin to roll down her face, "He went by himself to protect the students… He was all alone…"
Yamada frowned behind her, which was not a normal thing for him to do, and twisted her around to pull her close so he could try to comfort her, "It looks bad, but he will get better." His voice then dropped a few octaves, "Have you not realized how stubborn that man is?"
Her sobs into his chest reduced after a little while into little sniffles, "I'm sorry…" She backed away from him to look back towards Aizawa, "You two have come to mean a lot to me and… I don't want to lose either of you."
"Aw," He placed a hand on top of her head and rubbed between her ears, "You won't lose us anytime soon." He looked over at his best friend, "I'm sure of it."
Kit finally got herself together and went over to pull a chair up to the side of Aizawa's bed, "It's so odd to see him wearing white." She looked over the white outfit they had him in, "It doesn't look right."
This actually caused Yamada to chuckle as he sat on the other side of the bed, "No it doesn't and I'm sure he will want his uniform back as soon as possible."
Kit looked over at a tray that held a very torn and bloody cloth, "And it looks like he will need a new capture scarf."
"I'll send in the order request for him. He replaces it a lot, actually." Mic leaned forward against the bed rail with his elbow so he could put his chin in his hand.
They both became quiet as they watched over their friend until there was a knock at the door and a nurse walked in, "Hello, are you two family of Mr. Aizawa?"
"We practically are." Yamada stands to give the nurse room so she could check Aizawa's vitals, "I am his roommate and patrol partner and she," He motioned towards Kit, "Is his other patrol partner."
"Oh good." The nurse smiled fondly at them, then continued to look over her patient, "He will need all the support he can get for the next few days."
"You make sure to tell him that." Mic muttered under his breath before clearing his throat, "Are there any updates about his health?"
"Not really. Until he has woken up, there isn't much we can do to assess him." The nurse looked down at their friend with a look of pity.
Kit's ears twitched as she heard Aizawa's breathing increase along with his heart rate, "Well, you might be able to now… it sounds like he is trying to wake up."
Three sets of eyes went to the figure in the bed when they heard a groan; the nurse leaned over, "Mr. Aizawa? Are you in any pain? We gave you some medication in your I.V., but I can get you more if it isn't enough."
"No." The sound of his voice was laced with exhaustion, but you could see where he was attempting to move a bit.
"Please don't move for now by yourself or try to open your eyes." She put a hand on his shoulder, close to his neck, "Try to relax the best you can."
He grunted at her touch, "I thought I heard… Kit?"
"Oh, so he can hear her, but not my loud mouth." Yamada joked lightly.
Kit threw him a look, but looked back towards Aizawa's covered face, "I'm here."
He was quiet for a moment until she heard a breath released, "I'm glad you're here."
Her heart skipped a beat at this, causing her eyes to water up, "I'm so sorry. I should've…" She sniffled a little, turning her head away from him though she knew he couldn't see her, "I should've gone with you when you offered."
"I wouldn't want you to be put into danger any way." Was his response a few seconds later, "But I am glad that you are here now."
"See, I told you." Yamada came around and was standing next to her now.
The nurse smiled at their antics, but began to head towards the door, "I'm going to let the doctor know that you are awake now, Mr. Aizawa, so that he can come in and speak with you."
Kit folded her arms under her bosom and closed her eyes, thankful that despite the injury, Aizawa acted pretty normal. Cracking open an eye to give him a once over, she wondered if he would need counseling, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to do it herself. But if he wanted to talk about it with her, she would never deny him.
A while later, a woman poked her head in the doorway, "Hi, I have dinner here for Mr. Aizawa." She looked at the bandaged man, "Let me get him sat up and I'll bring the tray in." She slowly raised his upper half, which he didn't complain about but Kit sore he flinched, "Okay, let me go get that tray."
Once she placed the tray in front of him, it was as if she just noticed his arms being completely wrapped, but Kit lowered the bed rail closest to her, "I can feed him if that's alright."
"If that is what you wish to do. He is on an all liquid diet for tonight and will be switched to solid foods tomorrow after some treatment." She leaned forward towards his face and gently began to unwrap the bottom part of his face, "I'll take this off just enough so that he can open his mouth, okay?" She let the extra strip of bandage lay limp next to him, "When he is finished, you can set the tray by the sink and let a nurse know to rewrap his face."
"I'm going to go get us something too, Kit. Do you have anything in mind?" Yamada stood after the woman left.
"Just anything will be okay." She said distractedly, not even watching to see Yamada leave as she addressed Aizawa, "It looks like you have several options here… There is gelatin, tea, fruit juice, miso soup, and… I can't tell if this is kuzuyu or omoyu."
"I'll start with the gelatin." His voice sounded reluctant.
Kit picked up the small spoon and plastic cup of the red jelly and took off the lid, "Looks either like strawberry or cherry." She took a spoonful and placed the end of the spoon softly on his bottom lip.
He opened his mouth as small as he could and she slipped the spoon inside for him to get the contents off, "Mm, strawberry."
She snorted a little, "At least it isn't cherry; I think cherry tastes like medicine for kids."
"Mhm." He hummed and opened his mouth for the second bite.
After the gelatin, he moved onto the miso, and finished with the fruit juice and tea, "If you want the kuzuyu, you can have it…"
Kit scrunched up her nose, "No, thank you." She moved the tray away to place by the sink, "I'll go get the nurse to put the bandages back on you."
"Wait…" He called out, "Let it stay off for a few more minutes."
She bit her lip, looking back his way before coming back to his side, "Only for a few minutes. I don't need something to happen because I gave into you."
She could see the smirk on his lips, "I just wish you'd give into me more often."
"Uh…" Kit's head snapped to the door to see Yamada standing just inside the door with a bag of takeout, "I'm not sure what I just walked into, but…"
"Shush!" She was sure her face was the color of that strawberry gelatin, standing to go over to Mic, she eyed the bag, "What'cha get me?"
He lifted the bag, "I got you inari soba in chicken broth with some vegetables. I ate mine on the way back."
Her tails wagged behind her as she took the bag to return to her seat, "Thank you. I'll pay you back later."
"Don't worry about it." He waved her off then sat across from her next to Aizawa, "I also spoke with the doctor." He noticed her attention went away from her food, straight to him, "They have a treatment plan to help speed up the healing process, so he should be able to go home tomorrow night as long as he comes back once a day for his treatments."
Kit took in a bite of her soba, "That sounds good to me."
"I want to go home now…" Was Aizawa's weak protest, causing Kit to shake her head.
"Staying here tonight and going home tomorrow night isn't awful." Mic picked up his phone to show a message that she couldn't read, "The school is closed tomorrow anyway so they can upgrade the security system and so the police can do a final grounds check."
She could almost see Aizawa's shoulders slump, "Fine." He turned his head slightly, "How were the students? None of them got hurt right?"
"Other than Midoriya, no, but with Midoriya's quirk being so unstable… It really isn't too surprising." Kit told him.
"That kid…" He ground out.
She quickly finished her food and was about to drink the broth, but then looked at Aizawa, "Do you want my broth? It actually has salt in it unlike the hospital's miso… and as long as you don't mind that I ate from the bowl…"
"You eating from the bowl would be the least of my concern, Kit." He commented, and then asked, "Do you not mind?"
"Not really." Kit confessed, "The noodles were plenty for me. Here." She slowly placed the edge of the bowl to his lips so he could open and she tilted the bowl, then lowered it once he got a few sips, "Not too bad, huh?"
Kit could see his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed, "Much better than anything else here."
"Well, it looks like she has you taken care of…" Yamada then yawned into his hand, "I'm going to head home. I'll come back in the morning."
Aizawa's head turned to where he could hear his friend's voice, "Thanks for coming out."
"Of course, buddy." Yamada then looked to Kit, "Don't stay out too late."
Kit's bottom lip slipped out to a pout, "I can take care of myself."
He only laughed as he left the room, "See ya."
She turned to raise the bowl to his lips again, "More?"
He hummed and she tilted the bowl to give him more and soon he finished the bowl, "Thank you."
"Sure." Kit gently took a napkin to pat around his lips to make sure that his was clean, "I'm going to go and get that nurse to wrap you back up."
She quickly left so that she didn't hear any protests from him and informed a nurse who followed her back to his room to take care of his bandages, "One of the nurses will teach you tomorrow how to do this since he will need to keep this on for a few weeks." She looked at the white cloth that had some dried blood on them, "Well, let me go grab another fresh bandage since we'd only have to replace it later anyway." The nurse left and came back quickly to undo the rest of his wrap, "Try not to open your eyes until tomorrow. The doctor hopes with some of tomorrow's treatment that your eyes will adjust better."
"Keeping my eyes closed isn't a problem." He grumbled out softly.
Kit snorted a little, but watched as the rest of the bandage was removed from his face, showing how exactly swollen his face was. The area around his eyes were the most swollen and colored an ugly purple and she was sure that even if he wanted to open his eyes, he wouldn't be able to. Under his right eye was a very angry looking cut with a couple of stitches and again, before she could help herself, she let out a small fox whine.
Soon, the nurse was putting the fresh bandage over his face, "I will say that unfortunately, visiting hours are about to end… If you were family or something, we could make an exception, but since you're not…"
Her ears lay back against her skull, "Oh."
"You should get some rest, Kit." Aizawa's face moved towards her as he spoke.
She stood slowly from her seat, "I'll be back tomorrow for sure." Kit looked back at the nurse, "He is allowed to have solid food tomorrow?" When the nurse nodded, Kit nodded her head to herself, "I'll bring you in something since I know that hospital food isn't the best."
"Don't go out of your way." His voice sounded like he was getting even sleepier.
"I'll do what I want." She stuck her tongue out at him though he couldn't see her, "Try to sleep the best you can…"
She left the room and kept her eyes on the floor in thought as to what she should bring him tomorrow for food.
Unfortunately, due to a committee meeting with the HPSC, she wasn't able to make it back to the hospital until a little before lunch. Thankfully though, the meeting ended just in time for her to be able to fix him up a homemade lunch and she packed a decent sized bento for him. She only hoped that he liked what she decided to fix.
She reached his room to see Yamada there along with Yagi and Kayama, "Hello, everyone." She didn't wait for them to greet her back before walking over to a space close to Aizawa, "I made you a bento, Shouta…" She held up a large, yet neatly wrapped bento box that was made more for multiple people, "I didn't know what you'd want exactly so I put together a little bit of everything…"
"You didn't have to…" His voice still sounded tired like the day before.
"I'll go get a tray so you can set it down in front of him." Yagi volunteered, leaving the room and returning several minutes later to set the tray up in front of him, "There you go."
"Thanks." Kit placed the large box on top of the tray and opened it up to show many varieties of food.
"Wow." Kayama leaned over to look over the bento, "You were not kidding when you said you put together a little bit of everything… There is a ton here."
"It is a good thing though since he refused breakfast." Yamada sighed, leaning back in his seat after looking over the bento as well, "He might just eat all of it."
"What would you like to start with? There is some Onigiri, Tamagoyaki, Gyoza, Steamed rice, ramen egg, potato salad… All kinds of fruits and vegetables…" Kit continued to list off the foods she made.
"Remind me to pay you back for all of this food." He mumbled, but shuffled in the bed to sit up better, "Can I start with some gyoza?"
"Sure, do you want sauce?" At his nod, she picked up the mini bow that held the gyoza, then dipped it in sauce to bring to his mouth, "Tell me how it tastes."
He chewed it slowly and after he swallowed, he gave a small slow nod, "Very good. I didn't know you could cook."
"I don't normally, but when I was younger, I taught myself so I could be more independent." She continued to feed him.
Kayama and Yamada shared a look, and then Kayama leaned forward with a sly grin, "I'm sure it also tastes that much better because Kit made it especially for you, hmmm, Aizawa?"
It almost startled Kit when the bandages around his eyes parted slightly showing his narrowed eyes on the r-rated hero, "Being here in the hospital is already bad enough, please don't make it worse with your perverse comments."
Kayama huffed, but laughed anyway, "I'd kill for someone to take their time to make me a nice bento like this…"
"Why don't you just get the boys that seem to always follow you around to make you something?" Yamada was chuckling now.
She slumped in her seat, "Those boys can't cook to save their lives."
Kit for the most part ignored them after that opting to focus on feeding the man in front of her without making much of a mess, "I also brought you some fruit juice…" He gave a small happy hum, "After you finish this, I'll pull out a box for you."
His eyes slid to look over her, "Have you eaten lunch?"
"Erm." A light blush came to her cheeks, "Not really, but I was trying to make it over here before lunch so you wouldn't have to wait long…"
"Then you better eat some of this too." He eyed the food in front of them, "I don't think I'll be able to eat all of this anyway."
"I only brought one set of chopsticks." Kit held up the hand with the chopsticks.
He closed his eyes to rest his head back against the pillow, "I don't mind eating after you, if you don't mind eating after me."
This caused the other three in the room to go silent, but Kit's blush seemed to go into her hairline then, "If that's okay with you, Shouta."
After taking her time to feed him, taking small bites here and there for herself, he finally deemed himself full. She picked at a couple more items before telling the others they could finish what was there if they were interested. It was soon devoured by the other three, who were apparently smarter than her, since they went to the hospital café to get extra chopsticks.
"Mr. Aizawa?" All of them looked over to see a female doctor in a blue dress shirt and dress pants walk in, "I think I'm ready to discharge you and I have detailed instructions here for who will be helping take care of you." She let her gaze land on the others in the room, "Are any of you the ones who are going to help him?" Her eyes landed on Kit who was packing up the bento, "You look like you're already taking care of him…"
"Uh," Kit looked over at Mic, then back to the doctor, "I think it will be between Yamada and I..."
"Then I'll have a copy made so you both have the instructions." She handed her the original, then looked at Aizawa, "I know that you are unable to sign, so would it be okay for one of your friends to sign on your behalf?"
"Either Hizashi or Kit can do it." He muttered.
Kit motioned towards the Voice Hero, "I think it would be best if he signed for him… He is his roommate."
The doctor nodded and handed a clipboard over to Yamada, "Do you have any clothing to go home with?"
"I brought him some of his street clothing." Yamada muttered, his hand scribbling his name on the paper.
"Then he can go ahead and get dressed and I'll have a nurse bring the copy of instructions to you." The doctor took the clipboard back and walked from the room.
"I think I'm going to go ahead and go." Kayama stood from her seat.
Yagi nodded and followed in standing, "I'll walk you to the station; I need to get ready for tomorrow."
Kit waved to them, then looked at Yamada, "Are you going to help him get dressed?"
He nodded, looking at her with a smirk, "Unless you want to help him."
"N-no, I'll let you handle that." She stuttered and took a second to recover, "If you do that, I can go get my car since I drove so he doesn't have to take a train. You can ride with us, obviously."
"Oh, that would actually be great. I was thinking I'd have to call a cab. I left my car at the school." Yamada stood and went over to a bag that was on a chair that clearly had Aizawa's extra clothing.
"Okay, I'll meet you out front then." Kit grabbed the bento box and made her way out to her car so she could go wait for them.
After picking them up, Kit dropped them off at home, promising to drop by after school the next day was over with another meal for them. She felt obligated to do this for them since they opened their arms to her to join their little group. It was the least she could do was to help with food and care.
The next day, Kit was rushing through the hallways of the school before the students got in. She wanted to get her work done for the day as soon as possible so that she could get home right after school to fix dinner for Yamada and Aizawa. Today, she also wanted to get her paperwork at least started so she could pull the students from 1-A one by one into her office to talk to them about what happened.
She was rounding the corner to head to her office, her eyes on the papers in her hands, but came to a screeching halt when she almost ran into someone, "Ah, sorry, sorry…" Her eyes narrowed then when she recognized the black jumpsuit in front of her, and then raised her eyes to his face, "Shouta?? What are you doing here? The doctor's orders are for you to stay home and rest!"
He opened his eyes slightly to look down at her, "It is good to see you too." He moved to walk past her and Kit found herself following him towards his class, "Hero work doesn't end just because of an injury."
"But…" Her fists clenched, crinkling the papers in her grasp.
He stopped outside the door of his classroom to turn his head to look her way, "Thank you for helping to take care of me in the hospital." He nudged the door with his foot to prepare to slide it open, "I'll repay you in the future… Just hopefully not for the same thing."
"I was honored to help you, Shouta." Kit wanted to press the issue of him returning home, but bit her tongue; he was an adult and could make his own decisions, "If you need ANYTHING, please let me know."
He gave her a nod before opening the door up to his classroom where she could hear the students start to make a fuss over their teacher. She couldn't help but smile at this and decided then that maybe it was good for him to come in and be encouraged by his students.
