Persistent

Kit sighed for the hundredth time since she had gotten to the HPSC meeting. To keep the meetings discrete, they typically held the meetings in a private room within the downtown police station. Normally, they started the meetings promptly, but apparently there was an accident that caused traffic and several of the members were going to be late, including the President.

She only hoped that they would hurry since Aizawa and Yamada were going to pick her up with her car afterwards to go out for an early dinner. Aizawa seemed as if he was trying to keep her distracted from everything that had happened. He was even going as far as to plan with her to do things she knew he didn't enjoy on days they didn't patrol.

She was looking over the others in the room and wondered how these people sitting around an oval table got to be in such powerful positions. Most were actually quirkless and the ones that did have a quirk didn't have much use for the quirk, yet they practically controlled Pro Heroes from behind a curtain.

There were only a couple of people here that she knew here so far that included Mera and the Commissioner General. She was leaning on the wall directly behind the General as he was at one of the far ends of the table; the other end was for the President. Mera was next to him and they were making soft conversation, which they had tried to include her a few times for her Pro Hero opinion. She often wondered if they actually listened though.

She had been trying to get into the conversation as several men in black suits came walking in that were missing and they sat in their seats. She went to speak again with Mera, but when one man stood, the rest joined him and she knew that the President of HPSC was here. She made her way to her spot against the wall so she could relax herself as best she could for this meeting.

The President was an older woman, though Kit wasn't entirely sure how old. She had peachy colored skin with gray-blond hair that she always had slicked back and cut to shoulder length. Her eyes were a light blue and lined with lashes that varied in thickness. Kit had never seen the woman wear anything but impeccably styled clothing, but that was not surprising considering her position.

The elderly woman hastily came into the room, "Sorry that I am late, everyone." She gave a small bow to the beings in the room before going to her seat, "I had a late start to get here and then that accident on the highway delayed us further."

Before she could continue, her current nightmare walked in, "Heyo! I offered to fly her in, but she wouldn't let me."

His eyes were scanning each person that was directly around the table, seeming to not notice she was in the back of the room, as he stood behind and to the right of the President. She was very good at being still and if she remembered correctly, he didn't notice much until it moved.

"Please have a seat." She told them after she began to sit as well, "We have some minor items to go over before we go into the intern reports." She was looking over a tablet before her that had been waiting on the table for her, "Mera, do you have the villain activity report?"

"Yes." He actually sounded a little more lively than normal, "It seems…"

Kit wanted to sigh as his monotone voice began to explain that certain points of certain cities were experiencing more villain activity than normal. They went over this kind of stuff every time and every time, Kit almost died from boredom.

"Next on the list…" The President's voice drew her attention back and Kit almost jumped when she looked directly at her, "Kit, do you have any updates about U.A.?"

Kit straightened as she let her eyes discreetly look towards Hawks to notice he was now openly staring at her with wide eyes, his mouth partially open before she answered, "There really isn't too much new. The kids in the hero course this year seem to be especially talented compared to previous years."

"How is U.A. with All Might as a teacher there now?" Another man she didn't recognize asked her.

"Well, the media broke in and the USJ accident happened all in one day just because they were looking for the Number One, so trouble seems to follow him." Kit lifted a shoulder lazily as she took her eyes from the red winged man in the room, "Other than that, he seems to stick close to a few students and poorly hides his favoritism."

"Do you think there is a reason why?" The President narrowed her eyes in thought as well.

"More than likely." Kit nodded a couple of times, "I don't know that much about the man, but he always does things with purpose."

Several members were typing away, and the President gave her a pleased look, "Keep looking into this and try to get closer to him. Keep up the good work."

"Yes, ma'am, thank you." Kit again nodded to her.

She let her body go back against the wall once again as the meeting moved on. She did her best to ignore the eyes that continued to burn holes into her, but she did find herself looking his way a few times. Every time, he would try to complete the eye contact that she refused to make, making her tails snap behind her.

"Hawks, you actually took an intern this year and we have a small report on him." This came from a man next to the President, "Do you have anything to add about this… Tokoyami Fumikage?"

"He is talented and a quick study," Hawks' attitude was actually serious, "But I think it is too early to tell since he is only a first year student."

"He is from U.A…" The same man then looked back towards her, "Do you have anything to say about Tokoyami?"

Kit thought for a second about the dark teenager, "Well, there is a reason why he came in third at the sports festival, but the down side of his quirk is quite substantial since he becomes uncontrollable in the dark."

She watched as he nodded at her answer, "That is disappointing."

Kit narrowed her eyes at him then, "Tokoyami is, like Hawks mentioned, a first year. He still shows a lot of potential and improves daily. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before he learns to control it."

"Now, now." The President held up a hand, "We understand you become protective over your students, Kit. We simply mention the disappointment for potential recruitment opportunities sooner rather than later."

Kit grunted at his, crossing her arms under her bosom, "Sorry."

"No offence taken." The man said apologetically, "It is good to know you take your job so seriously to study each student." He was taking notes then, "I'll still mark him down. Who is his homeroom teacher?"

"Eraser Head." Kit answered, without thought.

Mera looked at her then, "That is Aizawa Shouta, correct? The one I saw at your residence?"

Kit fought the urge to blush since his question could insinuate anything, "Yes."

"What about Bakugo Katsuki and Todoroki Shouto?" Another man brought up a file on a tablet she could see even from vantage point, "They both broke records with how many offers they received after the Sports Festival… We have reports from both of the agencies they attended, but Best Jeanist only spoke of his poor appearance and we're almost positive that Endeavor is biased when speaking of his son." He lifted a hand to her, "I'd just like to hear your opinion on them? Do you think they'd make good recruits for the future?"

"I can already tell you both are out." This caused several men to quirk a brow or send her doubtful looks, "Bakugo is… well, right now he isn't someone you'd want representing the Hero Commission in general. He is aggressive towards everyone and hardly follows orders without complaining about it first." She put a finger to her chin, "I can't even count how many times Eraser Head had to use his quirk on the boy to keep him from attacking other classmates."

"That bad? How has he not been expelled for such behaviors?" This first man who questioned her about All Might asked now, "Even then, I've never heard of Eraser Head being so tolerant. Isn't he known for expelling students?"

The hand near her face lowered, "His control over his quirk is extremely impressive and Eraser Head acknowledges the potential he carries."

"What about the Todoroki kid? Why wouldn't he be interested in being a private agent?" A new man asked.

"That is simply because he will more than likely take over his father's agency when he graduates." She shrugged, "I also don't see his personality accepting what the private sector of HPSC does." She licked her lips, "He is also dealing with some personal conflict that sometimes interferes with studies and quirk." She looked at each man at the table, "That doesn't mean, I suppose, that they wouldn't be fit eventually… It just doesn't seem likely now."

"Do you have any personal recommendations this year?" The President asked.

"No." While she had to admit she was shocked since this was the first time she was ever asked this, she would never recommend a student to the torturous work they made their private agents do, "None come to mind, but if that changes, I'll let you know."

"Thank you, Kit." The original man gave her an appraising look, "You're always on top of things."

They finally moved on again to what she hoped was the final points since she eyed the time. Her wish was granted when the President gave a final few points, then stood dismissing the meeting and left the room. Thankfully, Hawks followed after her and Kit waited a few minutes to make sure he was plenty far ahead so she didn't bump into him.

Once she figured she gave him enough time to clear the building, she made her way out as well. She stepped off the elevator and began to walk towards the front door, her eyes on her phone as she looked over the message from Aizawa that he was waiting outside.

She made it outside when she felt a hand wrap around her wrist causing her to stop and look back, "Kit, we need to talk…"

Her eyes tightened on Hawks, "I don't think so, Hawks."

She yanked her arm from his grasp as she turned, her eyes searching for her car that should hold the man she had deep feelings for, but was stopped once again when Hawks stepped in front of her, his wings spread wide, "Please, just talk to me. I'm not---"

"Kit?" A deep voice behind Hawks interrupted, "Is everything okay?"

"We're trying to have a conversation here, buddy." Hawks' voice darkened as he turned a little to see the man behind him, his one wing lowering slightly, "Give us a minute."

"We are definitely not buddies." Aizawa's eyes narrowed at the shorter man as he took a few steps their way, "...and I don't think Kit wants to speak with you." He reached out and grabbed her hand, "We also have a prior engagement, so she doesn't have a minute for you.."

Aizawa pulled her close to his side and just as Hawks went to argue, the President called out to him, "Hawks, we will be late for our reservation if we delay much longer."

Hawks was conflicted as he looked over at the President, but as he made his way towards the lady, "I'll find a way to talk to you later, Kit," He threw over his shoulder, "I mean it. This is all just a huge misunderstanding."

If Aizawa could narrow his eyes anymore, they'd be closed, but he eased his gaze as he looked down at her in his grasp, "Are you okay?"

"He is just persistent." Kit took in a shaky breath, but nodded, "He never knew how to control himself when we were kids either."

"Hm." He hummed, and then turned them towards the car, "Let's get going."

"Where is Hizashi?" She asked as she noticed the passenger seat was empty.

"Got called for an issue that he specialized in." He opened the door for her before getting in the driver seat, "He said he would meet us at the restaurant if he finished in time, but that was under an hour ago, so I doubt he will make it in time."

A dinner with Aizawa alone? She could feel her self-possession drop, yet she couldn't suppress the eagerness from rushing through her veins. It wasn't to say she didn't feel anything for Present Mic, in fact she found him attractive both in personality and a physical way, but he was so easy to get to know. She had to grasp anything she could about the reserved man that drove her car since he didn't let much slip.

"The place we are going isn't high end since I figured you'd be in uniform." He glanced over at her before looking back to the road ahead, "Have you ever had Italian food?"

"Once a long, long time ago." She responded.

"You say that as if you're as old as I am." He snorted, "Well, I hope you like it cause we're that's what we're getting tonight."

"Just as long as I can tell them no mushrooms, I'll be good." Kit gave him a lopsided grin.

"I don't understand your aversion to them." He half-teased, "They add flavor to a dish.

Sticking out her tongue in a disguised manner, she rapidly shook her head, "I can't stand the texture."

"Hm, well, you're missing out." He huffed out a chuckle, "I'm sure they will accommodate you the best they can."

She eyed him out of the corner of her eye so it didn't seem as if she was staring, but she always enjoyed seeing him genuinely happy. He was always so straight laced and stern, especially at work, so it was refreshing to see him like this.
