Shadowing

Several days later, Kit was making her way as quickly as she could to her destination. She sighed as her phone rang in her pocket, the tone indicating a specific person.

"Hello?" She answered hesitantly.

"Kit! I'm in the staff dorms and all of the staff is here… I thought you said someone was going with you?" The voice on the other end was deep with anger, causing her to grimace, "Are you far? If not, I'll meet you."

"I'm almost to the location I have to pick him up, Shouta." She bit her lip, "I'm fine. I'm a big girl, ya know?"

It was quiet on the other end for a moment, "I just don't want anything to happen to you."

"Nothing will happen and even if something did, I can take care of myself." She looked at the gate before her, "I think I'm here. I gotta go."

"I love you." He groaned into the phone, "I'll be waiting for you."

"I love you too." She smiled despite his frustration, "I'll be back soon. Take care."

She hung up quickly and pressed the button next to the gate of the estate she was at. After a few moments, the gate opened and she walked in, confused.

"Kit?" A young woman opened the door to the home and greeted her, "Hi, I am Todoroki Fuyumi, Natsuo's sister. He is getting his things together if you want to come inside for a moment."

"If that is okay." Kit smiled kindly at the woman.

Fuyumi was a pretty young woman with shoulder length white hair with red flecks in places. She had grey eyes, matching Shouto's right one. She was pale with a slim build, but didn't look weak by any means.

"Your home is beautiful." It reminded Kit a lot of the home she grew up in with Hawks.

"Dad has always been traditional." She sighed out, "I like modern homes, but I like this house too."

A young man's head poked out from a door down the hall, "Ah, sorry, Ms. Kit! I should've been ready by now."

"It's okay." Kit held up a hand in peace, "Take your time, Todoroki."

"Call me Natsuo to make it less confusing. There are lots of Todorokis' around here." He gave her a grin.

She couldn't see much, but she could see how Shouto looked like his siblings. Natsuo had pure white spiky hair and the same gray eyes as his sister. He looked to have a little more color than his sister and looked way more built like his father.

"Kit?" This voice nearly caused a shudder to go down her spine, "You're who Natsuo is shadowing?"

Kit turned to see Endeavor stepping up behind her, towering her in height, "Yes. He asked to intern someone who works in the behavioral health area for his degree and I volunteered."

He eyed her for a moment, almost critically, "You seem to have a lot of connections."

"Erm..." Kit could feel the sweat bead and thought maybe it was the new scar down his face that seemed to make him even scarier than before, "I'd rather have more friends than enemies."

"Leave her alone. She is doing me a huge favor." Natsuo came up behind her, then looked down at her, "I'm ready when you are."

Kit nodded at him, then faced Endeavor once again, "It was good to see you again."

"Hmm." He gave a single jerky nod, then looked at his son, "Be careful."

"Right." Kit watched as the oldest boy brushed by Endeavor like there was no care.

Kit blinked awkwardly, then turned to bow to Fuyumi, "It was nice to meet you."

"You too." She gave a soft smile that didn't reach her worried eyes.

Kit quickly caught up to the white haired man and they made their way back to the school. They made small talk, and despite his cold attitude towards his dad, he was very passionate about his family. He spoke briefly about a girl he was seeing and she couldn't help but find him adorable.

They reached the school within an hour of leaving and Kit quickly showed him the room he would be staying in. Originally, he would've taken Eri's room, but since Kit was almost finished moving her stuff from her room, he would be staying in her old room in the 1-A dorm. So, after a small tour of the dorm, she led him to his room.

"I hope the room is to your liking." Kit stepped to the side after unlocking the room for him, "I'll give you some time to settle in. Come out to the common room when you're ready for dinner. Is that okay?"

"Sure!" He looked around the room, then threw her back a smile, "I'll see ya in a bit."

Just as Kit shut the door and began her way down to the common room, she suddenly felt herself be pulled up against a hard body, "I'm glad you made it back safe."

"Shouta." She said his name lovingly, "I told you I would." She turned in his grasp to wrap her arms around his waist, "How was the class training today?"

"Eh." He shook his head, "We have introduced Hitoshi Shinso to the class and have informed them that he might be joining one permanently next school year." He looked concerned, "Though he worries me. He reminds me a lot of Todoroki at the beginning of the year… but almost worse."

"Shinso is a good kid." Kit thought about the boy who she spoke with often, "I think he is just misunderstood." She blinked then, "Speaking of Todoroki, did you let Shouto know that his brother was here?" Kit asked as she pulled away to continue to the common room, "I don't need him to be surprised."

"I, uh..." He rubbed the back of his neck, "Some things happened with Midoriya and I got distracted."

Kit blinked back at him, "Must have been something incredible since you rarely forget things."

"You could say that." He sighed, "You want to go get Eri with me for dinner?"

"Yeah, I will." Kit watched as he held out his hand so she could grab it.

They walked together over to the staff dorms and when they walked into the common room, they saw Yamada, Yagi, and Eri sitting in front of the television, Eri between the two adults. It was kind of funny to see the two adults watching the cartoon with the young girl, but Kit was happy they were keeping her amused.

"Eri," Aizawa called out to her, "Go wash up so we can go get dinner."

"Okay." Eri jumped off the couch, but when she saw Kit next to him, her face lit up even more, "Mama Kit!"

Everyone in the room seemed to freeze and Kit focused just in time to wrap her arms around the girl when she collided into her, "Hi, Eri, have you had a good day?"

Eri's face didn't move from being buried in her stomach, "Yup! I spent time with Uncle Yagi and Uncle Yamada. We watched some T.V. and we saw both you and Papa Aizawa on it!" Kit was pretty sure she heard him choke lightly, "I'm going to go clean up for dinner now!"

After the young girl disappeared from the room, both Aizawa and Kit exchanged looks before looking towards the other two in the room. Right as they made eye contact with Yamada, he ducked his head and before Kit could say anything, Aizawa had his scarf out and around Yamada's neck. All Might immediately started trying to loosen the scarf, yet keep the peace with Aizawa.

"What the hell did you do?" Aizawa's eyes were red with his quirk activated, his hair standing on end.

"Hey, hey!" Yamada tugged on the scarf, "I just told her that she could call me Uncle… and Yagi said she could call him Uncle too…"

"She came up with 'Mama' and 'Papa' all on her own." Yagi finished for the gasping voice hero.

Kit was pretty sure Yamada's head was about to pop off, so she put a calming hand on Aizawa's forearm, "After everything she has been through, we should be honored that she feels that way with us."

His form was still for a few more moments before his eyes stopped glowing and his scarf coiled back around his neck, "Fine." He ran a hand through his hair before motioning to the television, "She said she saw us?"

"Oh, yes, you two are minor celebrities right now." Yagi commented.

Mic picked up the T.V. remote and turned it on to change the channel to show a local news channel, "You guys are being praised for finding love within your hero work." His eyes narrowed as he looked back at the two lovers, "I just hope the media doesn't storm the school like they did before."

Kit's eyes were glued to the screen, watching their kiss that was close up, "Um, well…"

"This is what I wanted to happen." Aizawa's voice was firm as he too watched the screen.

"You wanted the media to exploit you?" Yamada's eyes seemed like they were going to bug out, "You hate reporters and anything to do with them."

"Well, this time I used them, not the other way around." A satisfied look came across his face, then he wrapped an arm around Kit's waist, "I wanted everyone to know that I am taken…" He looked down at her, "And that she was too."

Eri came out several minutes later, wearing a different outfit, skipping, "I'm ready!"

Kit held out a hand for the girl to grab, "We need to go to our dorm to pick up my guest, then we'll get going, okay?"

"'Kay." She beamed up at her and they led her out of the dorm to make their way to Heights Alliance.

They got to the dorm and Kit slowed a little in the common area, looking around but not seeing Natsuo, "We should clean up too…"

Aizawa looked down at her, then down to Eri, "Would you mind sitting on the couch for us while we go wash up for dinner too?"

"Yeah!" Eri went over to sit in front of the T.V., but didn't turn it on.

They both quickly made their way into his room to clean up that day's grime, taking only several minutes, before making their way back out to the common area. When they got out there, Natsuo was sitting next to Eri, talking softly with her. This only lasted a second before she saw them and practically bounced out of her seat to come their way, Natsuo standing as well.

They made their way to the main building where they got their food through Lunch Rush and found a table to sit at. Natsuo seemed the chattiest at that moment, Eri's attention on him since he was the new one around her. She seemed to get along with him though and this helped Kit relax.

"Natsuo?" Both Kit and Natsuo looked up to see Shouto looking over at them with wide eyes, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here interning Ms. Kit for the week for my degree." Natsuo then pointed at the empty seat next to him, looking at Kit and Aizawa, "Is it okay if he joins us?"

"Sure." Kit smiled up at the youngest Todoroki, "I told Aizawa to let you know, but it seems as if the class training was a little exciting today."

"Oh. It was rather dramatic…" He took a second, looking around, but sat down anyway, "I was just surprised, that's all."

The brothers began light conversation and Eri seemed to be content watching the exchange. Normally Togata would be with them, but today he had some testing at the hospital.

"Eri!" Midoriya came up with his tray, "How are you today?"

This was another normal addition to their dinner party. He would often come and sit with her for a bit after he ate with his friends, but it seemed today he wanted to eat with her too today.

"Shinso." Aizawa's voice pulled her attention as he called out to the general studies student, "Would you join us?"

She watched as Shinso stalled for a moment, before walking over, "If it is okay with everyone."

There was an awkward pause from the others at the table, and Kit nearly wanted to snap her tails at each one, "These tables have no one's name on them. You're always welcome to join us."

She watched as his eyes widened at her statement before looking pleased, "Thank you." He sat down on the other side of Aizawa, putting his hands together almost peacefully for a moment before lifting his chopsticks.

Aizawa began a quiet conversation with the seeming younger version of himself and Kit couldn't help the feeling of contentment from rising in her chest. Was this what it was like to have a family? Sure, she ate around a table with Master Takao, Master Kanda, and Hawks, but it was always so tense. This was lively and full of conversation.

Dinner seemed to last longer than normal, but when it finished, Kit couldn't help but notice how tired she was. Normally she was full of energy, but today she just wanted to go back to the room to sleep. Aizawa kept giving her looks along the way back to the dorm, Natsuo and Eri following a little ways behind them, making her believe she looked as tired as she felt. They first dropped off Eri at her room so Kit could tuck her in before heading to the student dorms.

"I'll meet you in the common room in the morning, Natsuo." Kit gave a tired smile to the young man.

"Yes, I'll see you early." He gave a single nod and then looked at Aizawa, "I assume I'll see you tomorrow as well."

"I'm sure." Aizawa gave a nod, "Have a good night."

"Goodnight." He bowed to both of them before turning to go to his temporary room.

Kit made a cup of tea before going to their room, Aizawa followed after her with narrowed eyes, "Are you okay? You're not acting normal…"

"I don't know… I don't feel quite right." She sighed heavily, "I think I'm just tired."

She downed the cup of tea within a few gulps, hoping it would give her some energy to work on some papers, but it wasn't doing too much. In fact, it almost made her nauseous, so she grabbed a bottle of water from the mini-fridge to chase it down.

As she began to make her way to the bed, Aizawa grabbed her to press a hand to her forehead, "You don't feel warm…" He held it there for a moment longer before moving it to look down at her, "But if you don't feel any better by tomorrow, you should go see Recovery Girl."

Kit looked up at him with sleepy eyes, "I will, but I have to work." She gave him a peck on the cheek, "I don't want to fail Natsuo, so I don't want to waste his time with me." She attempted to give him the best smile she could muster, "I'll be okay… I'll just wear a mask."

He watched her go over to her desk, but tugged on her wrist before she could get too far, "Let's go to bed early then." He eyed the stack of papers on the desk before pulling her towards the bed, "Everything can wait for tomorrow."

She eyed the papers too, but gave in, almost too easily, "I guess it wouldn't hurt." She let him pull her and slowly undressed, putting her dirty uniform in the basket for laundry, making a mental reminder that she needed to do laundry, "And you're so convincing."

Aizawa watched her fatigued movements with a concerned expression, especially when she got into the bed nude when she normally wore at least a tank top of sorts.

"I hope you feel rested come morning." He rubbed his nose along hers, "I hate seeing you this tired when you're normally almost wired."

She gave a little laugh, "Me too." She gave him a kiss on the corner of his lips, "Don't worry, I'll be back to being wired soon and you'll get tired of me."

"Never." He huffed, his eyes closing.

It wasn't too long after her eyes closed that she fell asleep, more quickly than normal.
