When the meeting ended, the students hurriedly exited the club room, except for Ms. Elle, Sydney, Lenoir, and Matt. Olivet waved goodbye to them because her driver had already arrived so she needed to go home.
"So, about the inter-school concert, have you already chosen a song?" asked Ms. Elle.
"Yes," Lenoir replied, "I have chosen to sing 'When Love Comes'. I think it fits my voice very well."
"I see," Ms. Elle uttered as she wrote down the title of the song in her notebook. "How about you, Sydney?"
"Actually… I still haven't chosen one," she sighed, giving a worried look on her face, "There are a lot of love songs that fit my voice, but I wanted to sing a song about hardwork and not giving up. Something inspirational."
"But Sydney, I have to submit the list of song titles to the organizer tomorrow."
"Uhm… Then, I will look for a song tonight and I will send you a message. If I don't find any inspirational songs, I will just select any love song."
Ms. Elle nodded. She then noticed Matt beside the door, staring at them, "Matt, do you need something? We were just having a meeting about the upcoming inter-school concert. Do you have any questions about being the Vice President?"
"I have no questions, Ms. Elle. I am just waiting for Sydney," he said, smiling, "Please don't mind me."
"Alright."
Soon after, they ended their short meeting. Lenoir, noticing Matt's gaze at Sydney, furrowed his eyebrows. Looks like his hunch was right, he likes her.
"You didn't have to wait for me. I can go home by myself," Sydney told Matt as the three of them neared the school gate, "Lenoir is even here. We can walk together-"
"Hush, Sydney. You know that I like posing as your bestfriend. Just let me do what I want," Matt responded to her and she rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Don't you think you're too clingy to her?" Lenoir asked him directly, making Matt stop on his tracks.
"Mind your own business," he replied and glared at him, "I did everything to get close to her because I want to be her friend-"
"And you need to use your VIP status to kick her out of the Music Club?"
"So, what? Isn't it effective?"
"You're a spoiled brat."
"Well, you're a nosy senior."
"HEY STOP!" Sydney shrieked, worried that the two of them might result in violence. "I won't go home with any of you."
"Sydney, if you dislike him and if you're bothered, tell him to get lost," Lenoir suggested with a serious face, "Why do you let him hang around with you?"
"Lenoir, Matt is a stubborn guy," she said and sighed. Then she remembered how good of a listener Matt was when she opened up about her sickness, "But he's an okay person."
"See? She likes me."
"I said you're just O-K-A-Y!"
Lenoir then noticed the orange sunset in front of them, realizing that it was almost nighttime, "Sydney, you should ride Matt's car. It's almost dark."
"But… How about you?" Sydney asked.
"I still need to go somewhere," he patted Sydney's head gently, "Take care," then he waved goodbye as he walked away.
"It's so obvious that he likes you," Matt uttered, "Did he confess?"
"Nah, he's just my Senior, someone I really look up to. Besides, a famous student like him is most likely to have a lot of girl fans. Who knows, maybe his girlfriend is one of them..."
Sydney rode Matt's yellow Ferrira car, one of the most expensive cars in the world. Matt had ordered his driver to go back home earlier so that he could be alone with Sydney.
After some time, they arrived at the McKee residence. Matt got out of the car first and opened the door for Sydney.
"I could have opened it, you know… I have hands!" the embarrassed Sydney told Matt as she got out of his expensive car. "Sometimes I get the creeps when you're too kind."
"You really think it's creepy, or…" Matt's face leaned towards Sydney, who darted her eyes away from him, "Or maybe you're just too conscious of me." It was because Matt had noticed the change in her behavior after Greta's birthday party.
"Wha… What are you saying!?" she slightly pushed him away, but he grabbed both her hands.
"Sydney. Look at me in the eyes right now and tell me that I have a chance."
"What… What chance are you talking about?" she asked him, puzzled.
Matt did not let go of her hands and stared at her eyes with all seriousness,
"A chance… to be your boyfriend."
