Annabelle's Birthday

Annabelle wakes up to the chanting of a birthday song. Suddenly, she see Clarissa and Eline singing for her.

Clarissa/Eline: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Annabelle, happy birthday to you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Annabelle: (Almost about to tear up) Thank you so much girls. I feel like I'm going to cry (robs her eyes).

Eline: Don't cry, we love you (hugs Annabelle. Meanwhile Clarissa who had earlier gone to the kitchen to bring Annabelle's cake returns with it and Annabelle almost cries again).

Annabelle: This is too much!!!. I'm going to cry now.

Clarissa: If you cry, no more cake for you.

Annabelle: No I love cake too much.

Eline: Make a wish.

Clarissa: Make a wish.

Annabelle: (In her conscious mind. Lord I pray you give me the strength to be able to take care of my siblings and fulfill their every wish. Annabelle now blows the candle and claps continuously in excitement) Yayyyyyyyy....(her phone rings. She picks up her phone to see Margaret calling and she immediately swipes to answer) Hello Mom.

Voice: Happy birthday sweetheart.

Annabelle: Thank you mama.

Voice: I know I can't be there right now to celebrate with you, but I promise to make it up to you when I come home tonight.

Annabelle: I understand, you don't have to worry. Clarissa and Eline are doing a great job making up for your absence.

Voice: Tell them I'm so grateful. Okay, I'll see you later when I get off from work.

Annabelle: Okay mom. (Call disconnects. Screams in excitement) Let's dance to some music!!!!.

Clarissa and Eline: (Screams) Yeah!!!!. (Annabelle turns on the tv and plays her favorite song, while connected to a loud speaker. They dance for 10 minutes straight and then she hears a knock on the door. She quickly runs to open the door and sees Diana. Screams in excitement) Best friend!!!!

Diana: (Screams in excitement) Best friend ( they both hug each other while ignoring Harry who has been standing behind Diana for minutes). Happy birthday!!!! (Holding hands with Annabelle and jumping in excitement).

Annabelle: Thank you!!!!!.

Harry: (Smiles awkwardly) Happy birthday Anna.

Annabelle: (Let's go of Diana's hands and hugs Harry in excitement) Thank you!!!!...(Harry's heart starts beating so fast. Annabelle suddenly realizes she's hugging Harry and she quickly lets go and they all laugh awkwardly).

At A Very Popular Restaurant

Annabelle, Diana, Harry, Clarissa and Eline all arrive at the restaurant while making themselves comfortable.

Annabelle: (To Diana) I can't believe you planned all this. Thank you best friend.

Diana: (smiles) You don't have to be so thankful. It's your birthday, so let's just enjoy. By the way, I got a present for you.

Annabelle: (Feeling touched, she covers part of her face with both hands, only her eyes can be seen) I feel so touched, I'm going to cry.

Clarissa: (To Diana) Don't mind my sister, she won't cry no matter how many times she says it (they all laugh and bring out their gifts for Annabelle to open).

Annabelle: (Excited) Who do I start with first?.

Diana: Just open already.

Annabelle: Okay okay, here I go. (Unwraps Diana's gift first and sees a new designer bag) Thank you so much Diana. I finally have something to match my outfit.

Diana: Don't mention best friend.

Annabelle: (Smiles and unwraps Clarissa's gift. A necklace comes out of it) Clarissa, how did you know I needed one?.

Clarissa: Because you don't own one in the first place. Now, you can wear this whenever you want.

Annabelle: (Leaves her seat and hugs Clarissa crying) Thank you.

Clarissa: Why are you crying?.

Diana: (Laughs) She finally cries!.

Annabelle: (Walks back to her seat wearing a smile) I won't cry anymore.

Diana: It's okay Anna, just cry all you want.

Annabelle: (Unwraps Eline's gift and sees a new makeup kit) I didn't think I'll ever own one. Thank you so much Eline (leaves her seat and kisses Eline on the cheek).

Eline: You better let me borrow your face. I'm going to practice a lot with you from now on until I become a better makeup artist.

Annabelle: (Smiles) Yes Mam!. (Stares at Harry for a while before unwrapping his gift. A frame with her picture on it comes out of it. She feels extremely touched and doesn't know how to express herself) This!. How did you.. (Harry suddenly interrupts her).

Harry: How did I come up with the idea?. I don't know, I just thought of it. I hope you like it. (Stutters) Was it... a bad idea?.

Annabelle: No, not at all. It's perfect. Thank you (smiles at Harry and he smiles back).

Diana: Okay, let's eat. (Calling the waiter) Waiter!!!. (To Annabelle) After this, guess where we're going next??.

Annabelle and Diana: (Screams in excitement) Karaoke!!!!..

Clarissa: (To Harry who suddenly looks confused. Trying to clear his doubts) It's a birthday tradition, you'll get used to it.

3 Hours Later, At the Karaoke.

(7pm in the evening)

Harry, Clarissa and Eline are watching Annabelle and Diana display their talents while dancing and singing their favorite song 🎶(Bad guy by Billie Eilish). A few minutes later Clarissa and Eline pick up the mic and take on the stage as they start singing their favorite song. It's now time for Harry to sing, but he feels shy.

Diana: (To Harry) Common Harry, it's just one song.

Clarissa and Eline: Common Harry.

Clarissa: Don't kill the mood.

Annabelle: (Joins the crowd) Yeah, why don't you just sing?.

Diana: (Tries another method) He sings a lot while taking a shower though.

Harry: (Stands up in a hurry, picking up the mic while trying to save his pride. They all laugh because of the serious expression on his face) I'll just sing.

Diana: (Cheers him on while clapping) Go Harry!!!. (Harry starts to sing a very sad and emotional song which nearly makes them tear up. A few minutes later Diana stands to excuse herself. To Annabelle) I need to use the restroom.

Annabelle: Okay, go ahead.

Clarissa: (Stands) Me too. I really need to pee.

Diana: Okay, let's go. (To Eline) what about you?. Don't you need to use the restroom?.

Eline: I don't think I do. (Changes her mind) You know what?, as a matter of fact I do need to use the restroom. I think my makeup got ruined after sweating a lot.

Diana: Let's go. (To Annabelle) We'll be right back (they all leave the room, leaving Harry and Annabelle a lone in the room. 20 minutes later, Diana, Clarissa and Eline still haven't returned from the restroom. There is total awkward silence).

Harry: (Decides to break the silence by clearing his throat. Stutters) Are...you..okay?

Annabelle: Huh?. I'm fine. Why?.

Harry: (Smiles shyly) It's just a little bit awkward.

Annabelle: Why is it awkward?.

Harry: Us!, alone in the room like it was planned. (Receives a message from Diana which reads, "Tell her now". Stutters) Uh... (he quickly puts his phone away. Annabelle notices his expression suddenly changed).

Annabelle: What is it?. Is it Diana?. What did she say?. Is she on her way back?.

Harry: (Forcefully smiles) No, no it's not Diana. It's from my course mate. He was just saying hi.

Annabelle: Oh!. (Also receives a message from Diana which reads, "Tell him how you feel". She suddenly drops her phone in shock. Her heart starts beating fast. Harry rushes to her position, picks up her phone and in a kneeling position, he Stutters, looking worried for her) I... I'm okay.

Harry: Are you really okay?. What happened?. You seem shocked.

Annabelle: (Smiles awkwardly) No, no, no. I'm okay. I'm really okay (In a hurry, she grabs her phone from Harry).

Harry: (Feeling awkward, He stands up immediately and moves away from Annabelle. A few minutes later Annabelle starts shivering. She folds her arms and won't change her position. Harry notices and he quickly takes off his jacket and covers her around her shoulders) You can keep it for the time being.

Annabelle: (I should ask him now. He's really good at keeping his mouth shut when it comes to letting out his feelings, but not good at hiding them. He does a lot for me and he expects me not to suspect him?. I should ask him now. Annabelle suddenly gathers the courage to ask him) Do you like me?. (Harry freezes in shock) I asked you a question. Do you like me?.

Harry: (Trying to hide his facial expression by laughing awkwardly) Are you talking about the fact that I gave you my jacket?. Wouldn't anyone do same if they notice their friend freezing?.

Annabelle: I'm not talking about the jacket. Well, maybe that too. I see it in your eyes when you look at me. Everything you've done for me so far, only makes me want to question you more.

Harry: What exactly did I do?.

Annabelle: You taking me out for bowling when I had no one to console me!. Remember when you quickly ran to me when I sprained my ankle at the beach?. And why would you carry me?. Why were you the one who massaged my feet and stayed with me?. Why would you check up on me every single day?. Diana even told me you now stalk me on social media. What exactly is your aim?, if not for the fact that you have feelings for me.

Harry: (Trying to change the topic) Can we not talk about this right now?.

Annabelle: (Takes off his jacket and rises up on her feet, feeling disappointed. She hands over the jacket to him) Maybe I was just overthinking. I'm sorry for bothering you with my thoughts. If you don't like me that way, then never mind (she turns to leave the room when Harry suddenly grabs her hand).

Harry: (Suddenly summons the courage) I do like you!. So please, don't go.

Annabelle: (Stops and turns around as Harry continues. Her heart is beating so fast) Harry..

Harry: (Stutters) I... I've always liked you, right from the start. I thought about how many times I should tell you or how I should act towards you knowing fully well that my heart longs for you. I just didn't have the courage to. I don't think I deserve to be with you.

Annabelle: (Diana mentioned he was afraid. I should make a move) What will you do now?, because I like you too.

Harry: (Surprised and shocked at the same time) Huh?. (Stutters) What... what did you say?.

Annabelle: (Heart beating fast. Stutters) I said... I said I like you too. (Harry is still in shock, but Annabelle continues) What are you going to do now?. Are you going to take responsibility?.

Harry: (No. I can't fall for it. I can't let myself ruin her days and make her regret for choosing to be with me. Stutters) I... I can't.

Annabelle: (Suddenly disappointed) What?.

Harry: I know it may sound foolish to you, but I'm really not ready to be in a relationship right now. To be honest, I didn't really expect you'd like me back.

Annabelle: What are you talking about?.

Harry: What I'm saying is..(stops in the middle of explaining, taking into consideration her feelings) I'm sorry, for giving you false hope.

Annabelle: (Suddenly feels like tearing up) If you're really sorry, you'd stop acting like the coward that you are right now. ( He's afraid I'd leave him even without trying?) I'm leaving. I'm sorry, but I feel so embarrassed right now (grabs her bag and leaves the room. Diana arrives 5 minutes later with Clarissa and Eline. Notices Annabelle Is absent).

Diana: Where's Anna?.

Clarissa: Yeah, where's Anna (her phone starts ringing and she sees it's Annabelle). Oh here, she's calling. (Slides to answer) Hello Anna. Where are you?. We just got back but we can't find you anywhere.

Voice: Sorry girls, but my period just started and I don't have any tissue with me. You girls hurry up and meet me outside. I'll text Diana so we can call it a day.

Clarissa: Okay, got it (call disconnects). It's Anna (whispers to Diana's ear), She's suddenly on her period so we have to go home.

Diana: Of course, right away. You girls go ahead.

Clarissa: Okay, take care. (To Eline) Let's go. Anna is waiting for us outside.

Diana: Take care ( She watches them leave and then she suddenly turns to Harry with a questioning look). What happened?. I thought you two would be all lovey-dovey the moment I returned.

Harry: (In a loud tone) Let's just go home (leaves the room and Diana follows behind).

Diana: (Persistent) Aren't you going to tell me what happened?.
