One month had passed, since this incident occurred. I was now good friends with all four of them specially Ruhani and Aarosh. Vivan was more of a serious guy, always interested in sitting on the first bench and responding to all the questions of the teachers, obediently. Whereas Aarosh was a complete notorious person always playing pranks and was never interested in listening to a single word, the teacher said. He was one of those typical rich brats who never took anything in life seriously. It used to amaze me that these two contradictory personalities were best friends.
A series of events occurred when Natasha had to go to her home town for one week for her brother's wedding. I had to be all alone in my room and this thought made me sick. So, Natasha left for her place and I planned to use this opportunity to study for the exams, beginning next month.
The day she left, I had dinner with Ruhani and Nikita and came to my room early, telling them I will be studying late.
Aarosh always made it a point to call all of us turn by turn to know how we are doing. So, at around 9:00 pm Aarosh called me up and I picked up his call thinking, it would be a routine 5 minutes conversation with him.
"Hi Amayra, I hope I am not disturbing you!" He said very sweetly.
"Hi Aarosh, your hopes have come true, I haven't started to study as yet," I replied jokingly. I expected his usual chuckle and probably a nasty comment. Aarosh did not reply and remained rather grave.
"Hey! What happened? Are you ok?" I enquired worriedly.
"Yeah, don't worry I am fine. I am just missing my mom a lot. It's her birthday today," he replied grimly.
"Oh common, just call her then or maybe tomorrow you can just go and visit her. She must be missing you too." I suggested enthusiastically.
"Hmm, that's a good idea. I'll give her a call now. Thanks a lot Amayra. I'll talk to you tomorrow now. Goodnight." After saying this, he hung up the phone without even waiting for my response.
I found his reaction quite unusual but I was happy about the fact that I gave him such a good idea to surprise his mom. Without giving it another thought, I opened my English book and started studying about the Battle of Troy.
After an hour of studying, I thought of giving Aarosh a call. I wanted to make sure if he is doing all right and wanted to enquire about his tomorrow's plan.
"Hi Aarosh, I hope I am not disturbing you!" I imitated him.
