Chapter 13- By the Lake

After knocking the bandits out, Gamel healed the ones who are alive, tied them up and threw them in a portal. Kazuki on the other hand couldn't help but feel something off about Gamel.

" What are you going to do with the thieves miss Gamel?"

" I'm going to torture them to death or until I'm satisfied."

Everyone except for Pegasus was shocked by her unexpected answer. They all thought she was a graceful elegant lady but she's just a crazy sadist.

" Anyway, why are you here Mother Nature?" Maggie asked with a curious tone.

" That letter. Don't deliver it near the lake."

" Why?"

" It is where Brim lives."

" You mean the typhoon tyrant?"

Gamel was surprised that Maggie knew about Brim's existence. Crux hid his existence by Magnus' order in order to lure stronger enemies and use him as an ace in battle. However, only a handful of people including high officials of Crux and the supreme mages knew about him.

" Very clever little girl but, where did you get such classified information?"

" Well, despite being an Earthen mage, my father had books in his library all about the eight supreme mages."

" Very well, I shall accompany you in your quest."

Near the lake

Brim was living a peaceful life in a small shack near the shallow water, fishing and training everyday. Everything was going smoothly until, a group of adventurers were heading his way. It was a weird group composed of two mages and a fighter.

Usually, a party is composed of a mage, a fighter, and a marksman. Even the different armies follow that method for their forward patrols.

" Good day sir! I have a delivery for a mage here."

" That would be me. I mean, I'm the only one that lives here."

Just as the man was about to hand the letter, roots of trees strangled him immobile. Just as he was about to cast a spell, the delivery boy pulled out a familiar sword that he thought was only a legend.

" You seem fine Brim."

" Gamel! What's the meaning of this?"

Just as Gamel opened her mouth to answer, knights from Crux appeared out of nowhere and freed him. Gamel tried to stop their escape but he used wind magic to fly away and escape.

" We lost him. Is it okay?"

" Yeah. By the way Kazuki, bring your friends to the Holy Capital and show this letter to the palace guards."

Gamel handed him a sealed letter. Thinking that this might be a new quest, Kazuki accepted the request and departed.

After their silhouettes disappeared, he sent a bird to the Holy Capital carrying another letter.

Holy Capital

When Griffin read the letter, he ran to the throne room filled with joy. The king was surprised by his sudden change in expression.

" Your Majesty! Look here!"

" Oh? What happened to our supreme mage? Did he won a lottery or something?" The king teased him.

" No your Majesty. It seems that Gamel found the hero. She said that they met near the lake of Crux."

The king was astounded by Griffin's words. He never thought that he would hear a good news sooner after hearing about Crux's war declaration.

" That's good news! So when will we meet him?"

" Gamel said that he is going here holding her letter that confirms that he is indeed the hero."

" This is great news! Prepare a feast! We're celebrating our hero's return."

Little did they know that one of their guards is a spy of Crux and is sending them information about their strategy.
