Chapter 11: More Questions

I pace the common room awaiting Remus who was supposed to meet me ten minutes ago. All morning we had been wandering the castle (and I got lost many times) looking for Naomi since the incident earlier this week, and all we wanted to do was apologize. After she missed our first lesson of DADA and the other lessons we had that afternoon, she wasn't seen at all for the rest of the day, however she did come back the next day. She had attended all the classes for the rest of the week but despite Remus and I trying to speak with her, our plans never worked. Fifteen minutes, twenty minutes, twenty five minutes. I watch the hands of the clock move slightly as every minute passed, Remus still hadn't arrived and I begun to worry. Although we were only at Hogwarts and there was multiple professors, I couldn't help but be unsettled. Who knew what could of happened to him. Could someone of found out about his 'illness' and got him expelled? Was he lost? Or was just a simple case of losing track of time? Just as I thought about going to look for him, the painting opened up revealing a very tired looking Remus with the odd leaf or twig in his hair."Took you long enough" I smirk looking at my imaginary watch. He rolls his eyes, collapsing into one of the armchairs and knocking a twig out. "What happened to you? You look like you just came out of a Herbology Greenhouse, ran around the Forbidden Forest and then up too the common room.""That's because I did... How did you know" Remus panted looking across at me. His brow was raised and that's when I told him what had happened before he had turned up.I was sitting down on an armchair staring into the flames in the fireplace. For some reason they were calling to me again. They hadn't done that since the night of the sorting when I spoke to my brother about the sorting hat's words. This time however, I wasn't being pulled in and I just ignored them... but a part of me didn't want to. Why they would be calling to me, I don't know but it was weird. Back at home, it had never happened. I was always by the fireplace but I hadn't been called by them until I got to Hogwarts. Now I am surrounded by magic, I was probably just imagining it... Right?I begin to think of Remus and what he would have to go through on Monday. It would be his first time transforming into the monster (his words by the way) with a school full of students and professors right on his doorstep. Back home it wasn't so bad... He would be locked in a shack in the middle of the forest, and then our father would take him back home in the morning. But it wouldn't be as simple here at Hogwarts. He would have to be snuck out of the Womping Willow and through the grounds, then up to the Hospital Wing on the first floor all without being seen. It would be a hard task but it could quite possibly be done.As I think more about Remus, the time began to go past quickly. He was already late for us to meet up after finding Naomi and he was barely ever late to anything. What was taking him so long? Where could he be? Just as I begin thinking more and more about the last question, a flash of white fills my vision. When it starts to fade, I notice I am standing outside the Herbology Greenhouses looking in. I see a girl with pitch black hair running through the greenhouse with a small bag of seeds in her hands and a boy with sandy brown hair chasing her. Instantly I recognize the boy as none other than my brother and the scar on the girls cheek tells me that it was Naomi. I watch them run out of the door and down the path when my vision turns white again. This time, I was standing on the edge of the forest near a stone hut. A big pile of pumpkins were stacked neatly beside me along with a creepy scarecrow covered in dirt. I watch a large figure walking around their garden and looking straight at me but some how they didn't seem to of seen me. They pass through me as if I wasn't there and begins to tend to the blocks of orange, was I a ghost? How would they be able to pass through me otherwise, so I must be. Someone shouts out for Naomi from a distance and when I look, I could see Remus and Naomi running down the grounds. Remus was about a few yards from her and none of them seemed to of been stopping anytime soon although Remus had gone from running to jogging. Naomi looked back at my brother and continued running, however it was into the forest, the large figure hadn't seemed to have noticed and was now walking into a stone hut holding a pumpkin. I watch Remus follow the girl into the trees when my vision once again goes white.I look around to see myself into the Forbidden Forest. No one was in sight and it was oddly quiet except for the leaves slightly moving in the wind. Ahead a figure stumbles over a few tree roots and then disappears amongst the trees and not long later another enters in the same spot. I couldn't figure out who it was from the distance away I was but I could make out their movements. They looked around the area before turning back around and walking back the way they came. The weirdest thing was another figure quite a bit taller than the last, came out and began walking to the right, the opposite way to where they came from. Something seemed to of been dangling from their face, like a beard? But who could it be? "Meadow.... Meadow.... MEADOW" a voice whispers from a distance away. I turn around in circles amongst the trees to try and find the person with the voice but no one was there. "MEADOW.... Meadow.... Meadow" the voice calls again but this time it was fading away. "Who are you" I call out to the mystery person but no one answers. I take one last look around the area before everything goes white for the last time."So yeah, that's how I knew where you had been" I whisper averting my eyes up at my brother. He had his brows furrowed and was looking at the carpet beneath our feet in silence. Since my tale began, he had sat in silence and right now I could only wish to be able to read his thoughts."Wow, I never expected that," Remus whispers slightly looking up from the ground. Our eyes locked and his eyes slightly widen. "Does this mean that you can think of anyone and find them? I mean you said you were thinking of me when it happened so if you thought of someone else, you could see them right now"?"I don't know Rem, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try though. Who should I do?""Maybe one of our parents? You know them well and it could help with the process.""Okay I will give it a shot." I close my eyes and begin to think of Lyall. I asked myself questions like where was he? and what is he doing? like I did to Remus but nothing happens. I begin to think more and pictured him, his sandy brown hair like my brother's, his chocolate brown eyes which neither Remus or I had and his warm smile. The more I thought, the more I began to grow steadily weaker until I have no choice but to open my eyes and stop thinking. I begin to pant on the Common Room floor with Remus hovering over me brushing hair out of my face. Around him was many other Gryffindors I didn't know and they were all looking over and whispering. An arm loops around my chest and another beneath my legs before hoisting me up and taking me out of the common room. I look up at Remus while his feet carried me along corridors ad down stairs with people whispering. My head rests upon my brother's shoulder as we turn a corner and walk down some more stairs until we reach an empty hall on the first floor.I am lowered to the floor and lent up against one of the walls with Remus bending down beside me with a worried look in is green eyes. "How're you feeling? What happened? Did it work? Did you see anything?" He fires off questions in one breath, slightly looking up and down the hall to see if anyone was near. "Okay calm down Rem, I will answer all your questions but just give me a second please. The process didn't work although I done the same thing as what I did to see you and I didn't see neither Mum or Dad. I don't know what happened or what went wrong and I have no clue how I ended up on the floor because I didn't feel anything" I whisper and his brows furrow."You... you didn't feel anything?" I shake my head and he continues. "That's weird but most importantly how do you feel?" His kind eyes watches me before once again looking up and down the corridor and turning back to me."I feel really weak and tired but apart from that I'm okay. I don't feel hurt or any different really, I guess trying to get in contact with Dad just took a lot out of me" sending him a weak smile I push myself up and walks down one side of the hall. "Are you coming? We need to go to look in the library for that thing don't we and maybe look up what just happened" I called back before heading in.* * *"This is no use Rem, I haven't found a single thing in this damn book. Even with it's big two hundred and thirty four chapters" I sigh resting my head on the open book. Both Remus and I had been searching for three of four hours now with no breaks and skipping dinner to find any information on anything that has happened but nothing had turned up. We had begun with looking at wands especially ones which contained a kelpie tail as it's core but there was nothing. Two hours ago we started looking up visions and things but all we found was occlumency which didn't fit what was happening to me and that's what we have been doing all afternoon."Maybe try a different book sis, you can't just expect the answers to appear on the first book you pick up" Remus answers not looking up. He turned the page just when I lift my head slightly."But according to Madam Pince this is the best book to look at for visions." It was true, when I spoke to the Librarian asking about books that explained visions and stuff, she gave me this book. The confused look I got was as I expected but she didn't question it or mention anything but gave me what I wanted. "She might of said it was the best book but she never said that the answers were in that specific book, it could be in one of the other books we wouldn't expect to have to look in" Remus points out turning his page once more. However this time he actually looked up to speak with me instead of still reading as we spoke."Okay fine, I will check another book. Can we do it some other time though? I just want to sleep right now..." I whine snapping my book shut once my head was lifted from it. "Sure, we'll try next weekend at same time but this time we'll meet here. Come on let's get you up to bed" Remus chuckles shutting his book too. We go and place them on the shelf we found them on so we wouldn't anger the librarian and head up to bed. But that didn't stop me thinking about one question in particular. Where was the answers we seeked?
