Chapter 4 Something Found

I groaned as I woke up and rubbed my face into my pillow. Wait my pillow?! I was pretty sure I had fallen asleep on the couch last night. I quickly sat up confused. Had my brothers came home and brought me upstairs to my bed last night? I shrugged it off and looked at the time thankfully I had woken up with enough time to get ready for school. I must have forgotten to turn on my alarm before falling asleep yesterday. I stretched out my arms before throwing back the blankets. I got out of bed and began to get ready.

As I tossed my outfit for the day onto my bed I noticed the leather jacket from yesterday. My curiosity got the better of me and I decided to snoop through his jacket, maybe I could find a clue as to who he was or where I could find him. I got dressed in my dark blue jeans and a white t-shirt. I then sat down cross-legged on my bed as I searched the pockets. The jacket oddly smelled of pine and crushed leaves. The scent was quite relaxing. A strange feeling came over me it felt as if my chest was vibrating, I could almost swear I heard something close to a purr come from my chest. Well that was strange.

I had found some gum in the left pocket and decided to take a piece. I rummaged through the right pocket but nothing. Then my fingers felt the opening of an inner pocket. I reached in feeling something smooth and slightly hefty. I pulled it out and saw that it was some kind of amulet. I inspected the intricate details. The amulet was round with what I believe was Celtic knots and an engraved wolf's head. The eyes were so intense as I stared into them, suddenly my mind and vision went blank.

I don't know how much time had passed when I finally came to, but I was in the middle of the woods. I looked around me confused and also a little panicked. I noticed what looked like an old mansion, the ones from horror movies, except this one didn't seem creepy. I had no clue how I got here or why, but I wanted to find out. I began walking towards the home. Hopefully, someone here would be able to help me out. As I got to the front door I noticed the knocker had the same design on it as the amulet. I grabbed it taking a deep breath and brought it up and down three times. The noise echoed through the silent forest.

I was surprised when a little girl around the age of 8 or 9 opened the door. She smiled sweetly at me "Hello can I help you?" she asked her voice soft like wind chimes in a gentle breeze. I nodded hesitantly "Umm...I'm looking for a guy, he's taller than me, short dark messy hair, and green eyes. You wouldn't happen to know him by any chance?" I asked as I bit my lip nervously. The girl opened the door wider for me to step inside. The thick wooden door closed behind me as I followed her to what seemed to be an entertainment area for guests, you know basically a fancy living room without a tv.

The girl motioned for me to stay there as she left. Okay this was weird. I started to look around at the things in the room like decorations and pictures. I could hear heavy footsteps coming down the hall. Why did they sound so familiar. I turned around to see the strange attacker from before. I took a few steps back and grabbed onto the nearest thing to throw at him. It all moved so slow as he lunged I threw the item in my hand. I closed my eyes after that bracing for impact. Without warning, a pair of arms wrapped around my waist pulling toward something warm and hard. I felt butterflies bursting in my stomach. Right after that, I heard a whimper from what seemed to be a dog. I carefully opened my eyes and looked up. Then I stopped as my icy blue orbs landed upon his jade green ones. He had saved me once again. Damn was I gonna owe this guy big time if this is how we keep meeting.
