Chapter 9 Breath

It's been a couple of days now and I haven't been able to get out of bed unless it was to use the washroom. I've barely eaten not that Logan hasn't been pushing me to eat. Today was different the voice in my head had convinced me to go for a walk in the woods a walk that would help me release all the emotions I had locked away. I forced myself into the shower and cleaned off all the dried blood from that day. I let out a defeated sigh, life could be worse I guess. My brothers could be hunters as well and chose to hunt me down. Once I was clean I climbed out and got dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a baggy sweater. My ribs had managed to heal over the last couple of days. Logan said that it was normal for werewolves to heal at a faster rate.

I walked downstairs and paused as the entire Craven pack was looking at me. I had found out this was the pack house, where many other pack members lived with the alpha and his family, though some members had their own homes. I lowered my head genuinely not wanting the attention I was receiving. I put on a pair of ankle boots and headed out for my walk. Logan was outside helping another pack member fix their vehicle "I'm just going for a walk I won't go far." I told him. I was surprised and happy to see him smiling when he saw me out of bed. He nodded "Just howl if you need me." he joked then went back to helping out with the vehicle.

I walked through the woods letting the sounds of nature heal my soul [It's so nice out here.] the voice in my head purred and I had to agree. I found a tiny clearing in the tress and decided to take a little break from my walking. I sat down in the tall grass weaving some of the flowers together . I felt the desire in me to look up and I did. I tilted my head as I saw a rather large black wolf starring at me, it seemed curious about me. I held out my hand in a friendly way, I wasn't scared. It hesitated at first then took a few steps forward till it was about five feet away. I stood up and slowly walked over to it. I stood still as its large muzzle shoved itself in my hair making me giggle. Upon closer inspection, this wolf had a lot of scars that had been hidden by his thick fur. His ember eyes were so mesmerizing and full of emotion. After smelling me I gently raised my hand to stroke the fur on his head. That oddly familiar force came back pushing me into one of those visions.

It was pitch black and I was in the woods still. I could hear yelling in the distance as a man and a woman ran past me. Wait I know her. Mom! That means the man with her must be my dad. I followed them the yelling getting closer and closer. Out of nowhere a large grey wolf jump in between them separating them. My father yelled for my mother to run. Do I follow her or stay with him? I followed my mother I have to know what happened to her. It had only been a few minutes since she had left the man behind to deal with the grey wolf when she was surrounded. I could see the fear in her eyes, she knew what was going to happen. I felt the tears running down my cheeks, my mother was trapped. I was astounded when a long black figure came soaring from behind me. It landed in the middle of the hunters. It was a beautiful black wolf it's ember eyes caught my attention. Wait Logan said dad went back to help her, that means "No Mom! Dad! Run!" I yelled but nothing happened as the fighting began. I felt the mysterious force pushing me out even though I fought to stay in the vision.

I blinked a couple of times seeing the wolf had taken off. I remembered those ember eyes, could it be? I shook my head and figured I had been gone long enough. I headed back towards the Craven pack house. I stopped when I heard voices speaking a little off the trail. I was curious about who would be talking out here in the woods, so naturally, I went to investigate. I stopped when I spotted him, the man who tried to attack me when this all started, he was talking to a couple of people and pointed towards the pack house. Shit. I got out of there as quietly as I could and ran back. As I ran up the driveway Logan must have spotted me because he came running over "Angel what's wrong?" he asked as I was catching my breath. I pointed back towards the woods "That guy I hit with the cactus was back there. He was talking to some people and pointing this way." I informed him.

Before I knew it Danny and a few other pack members were outside. I was puzzled on how they knew till Logan spoke up "Pack link, you'll get yours once you shift and initiate into the pack." he explained. So basically a telepathic group chat fun. Then a thought crossed my mind and I turned to Danny "Hey Danny, try and bring one back alive. I think I have a way to get information out of them." I informed him. He nodded before they walked off into the woods. About a minute or two later and I could hear howling. They were on the hunt for cactus boy and whoever he was meeting with. My attention was brought back to Logan when he asked if I was hungry, I was about to say no when my stomach growled. I smiled sheepishly "I guess I could eat something." I told him as we walked inside. That's when that black wolf came back to mind. Why did he seem so familiar?
