Chapter 10 Sandwich Lunch

I played with a lock of my caramel-colored hair as Logan started searching through the kitchen for something to make. I bit at one of my nails "Hey, Logan, I know you told me we're meant to be mates... do you think if when we're ready, and we maybe have a son could we name him after Tyson?" I question hesitantly. Logan stopped looking through a cabinet to look at me "Of course we can angel." He said smiling sweetly. The thought of Tyson still hurt but it was the first time today I could bring him up without crying. I wanted to bring up the wolf I had seen in the woods earlier but my gut told me to keep it to myself for now. Logan sighed in defeat as he grabbed a couple of boxes of mac and cheese. I let out a little giggle it was a little cute when he got flustered. He gave me a playful glare and I stuck my tongue out at him making him chuckle. I watched him as he cooked "So how is the car doing?" I asked trying to fill the silence "Well I'm pretty sure he needs a new driveshaft but Declan thinks it's the ball joint..." he started explaining all these car parts which is when my brain kind of checked out, I just nodded and smiled.

A couple of minutes later he placed a bowl filled with mac and cheese in front of me. He watched me intently as I took my first spoonful. I started chewing and smiled despite the mixture of soggy and hard noodles, how did he mess it up so bad? I gave him a thumbs-up before he took a bite. He immediately spat it out "Argh that's so not right! Eva why did you lie to me?" he demanded as he dumbed the bowls out into the garbage. I bit my lip and clasped my hands together shyly "I didn't want to hurt your feelings." I mumbled. He shook his head and walked over to me taking my face into his hands "Your job right now isn't to care about me, okay, you have to heal yourself." he spoke softly as he stroke my cheek with his thumb. I gave him a week smile and nodded. I hadn't told him that my ribs were feeling better, better than before actually. My body felt stronger it was my soul that was hurting.

I gently pulled away and grabbed a few things from the fridge and pantry. I made us some sandwiches with chips on the side. I placed a plate on the breakfast counter in front of Logan and began eating my sandwich. I started to pick at my chips when there was a commotion coming in through the front door. I got up and went to inspect what was happening. Danny and the pack members were back holding on to one of the guys I saw in the woods, it wasn't the cactus boy at least. Without a word, Danny motioned with his chin for me to follow him. I followed the group to a large metal door that had no less than five different locks on it. I looked back as Logan placed his hand on my shoulder "You shouldn't go down there. Danny can take care of it." he told me. I gave him an understanding smile "I know, but if I'm right he may not have to take care of it." I informed him before heading through the door and down the stairs.

The first thing that hit me was how dark it was with only a few lanterns placed carelessly around to light our way. The second thing was the smell, it was foul I had to fight my body not to bring my lunch back up. I could hear the man they were bringing down pleading for us to let him go, but I didn't believe him. He was most likely trying to play on our sympathies. I waited in the shadows as they strapped him into a chair in the middle of the room. I looked around and saw some gruesome stains that covered the floors and walls growing darker the closer to the chair they got. There was a dingy and dirty mattress in a corner with a pot near it, I guess not what for. Danny walked over to me and placed his large hand on my shoulder "He's all ready for you Eva." he assured. I took a deep breath, I hope this works. I walked over to the man our eyes locking. He smirked at me showing his crooked yellow teeth "My my do you ever look like your dear mommy." he taunted. I refused to react to his barbs.

I lifted my hands and placed them upon his greasy temples, how did this man make me feel more disgusted then this dungeon did? I focused on trying to urge a vision to come forth. This time it felt more like a nudge and less of a push, maybe I was getting used to this? The image was a little blurry and I focused on making it more clear.

I saw myself standing among a crowd, they all stared down at what seemed like an arena or colosseum. A woman was chained to a post underneath what seemed to be a personal balcony. My eyes grew large as I noticed the two wolves who were chained up at the other end snarling at each other while lunging for the frightened women. I saw mister greasy walked up to someone on the balcony right before there was a large commotion. I looked back to see what people were getting worked up over. Wait, is that Danny?! I ran forward towards the edge of the bleachers. He looked at the wolves and they whimpered as they submitted to his presence. It was like he had the strength of ten men at the moment as he grabbed at the chains and forced them off the woman. He pulled her close to him before she pointed to a gate where a little boy sat crying. Danny nodded before more pack members emerged and broke the wolves free. The people started to panic as the wolves started to turn on everyone here who wasn't their kind. I took a deep breath and pulled myself out of the vision.

I turned to Danny "Knock him out." I told him then headed upstairs. If what I saw was the future I needed to tell Danny what I saw. There was something in the way that Danny looked at her, she was important to him. I walked past Logan and into the office. I sat in one of the chairs as Logan walked in with a puzzled look on his face "Angel what's going on?" he asked slightly worried. I just lifted my hand and waved it off "I have to talk to Danny about something." I informed him just as Danny walked in closing the door behind him. He walked over and sat on his desk, well more like leaned since he was so tall. He crossed his arms before speaking "What happened down there? You were in some sort of trance or something." I nodded "Yeah sometimes I get these feelings or visions. I think I may have seen someone very important to you in danger." I informed. I wasn't going to claim it was his mate as I suspected. I stood up and ran my fingers over the books "You need to let him 'escape' so we can follow him back." Logan cut me off "Whoa what we?! You're not going to follow that lunatic anywhere." he stated as he marched over to me.

I raised an eyebrow curious "Logan I'm the only one who can say for sure what's going to happen, I-" Logan cut me off again "No Eva. You stay here where you're safe. When you can shift you can go out and help the pack." he insisted. I sighed, he was right I wouldn't be much help if there was a fight. I relaxed "Fine I'll stay but your brother can't go alone, I have a feeling you'll need at least another five to six wolves to help you. The hunters have this sort of gladiator games going on and I'm sure you will run into many trapped wolves there along with a whole slew of hunters ready to take you guys out if they get the chance." I informed them. Danny scratched his cheek that had started growing a five o'clock shadow. He nodded "All right Loggie you come with me and find our best stealth members to come along." he ordered. I giggled hearing the nickname he gave Logan. Logan let out a small angry growl at his brother "Don't call me that...Fine, I'll go find them." he grunted then left the office.

When he left Danny softened his gaze "Evangeline how have you been since you know..." he asked concerned clear in his voice. I gave him a sad smile "It hurts still, but I can't stay in bed my whole life right. Logan doesn't need a mate that he needs to take care of hand and foot just because she can't accept that tragic things do happen." I said putting myself down a little. I didn't expect it but Danny gave me the one thing I desperately needed a hug from a big brother. I held onto him tight "What he did was evil, and I swear I won't let anyone hurt you like that again." he promised me. Dear god, it felt like having a big brother again [Goddess] the voice in my head corrected. Huh? Goddess? Oh well, I'm gonna soak up this feeling while I could.
