New York Central Park...
"So, New York City, with the Puella Magi Holy Quintet and HoloMyth." Jared said, smiling. "Along with the Doctor and the Ponds. Today couldn't be any better."
"I can't believe you brought us to America." Sayaka said, happily.
"Why shouldn't I?" Jared asked.
"Because a lot has happened at Atlas." Calli said. "You've been through a lot."
"So has all of us. The Holy Quintet was split up after Walpurgisnacht. Kiara had to go back to Australia for a bit. I just don't want to see all of us separated."
"Yet, you separated from Team RWBY." Homura said, looking at Jared.
"After everything I've seen ever since I went to Atlas. I need a little break. I'll get back to them after something impossible happens." Jared said, happily.
"Impossible?" Mami asked. "What kind?"
"The kind where it's similar to what Madoka and Homura went through."
"Wait. What?" Homura asked. "Is this girl similar to Madoka?"
"Where is Madoka?" Ina asked.
"She went off somewhere." Kyoko said. "She'll be back. Don't worry about it. Probably wanted to take a stroll."
"I don't want things to go wrong." Jared said, sadly. "That's the last thing I would want."
"What if it does?" Kiara asked. "Things going wrong."
"Then I'll need massive cheering up."
"Don't worry." Gura said, looking at Jared. "You've got us."
"Whoa, I'm an alien. I'm a legal alien. I'm an Englishman in New York." Sting said, singing nearby.
Picnicking near the Duck Pond.
"New York growled at my window, but I was ready for it. My stocking seams were straight, my lipstick was combat ready, I was packing cleavage that could fell an ox at twenty feet, and I have my generic anime protagonist with me." The Doctor said, reading a book.
"Doctor, you're doing it again." Amy said.
"I'm reading!" The Doctor said, angrily.
"Aloud. Please could you not?"
"There's something different about you, isn't there?"
"What's the book?" Ina asked.
"Melody Malone. She's a private detective with her assistant Exiger Tranquille in old town New York." The Doctor said.
"Melody has got ice in her heart and a kiss on her lips, and a vulnerable side she keeps well hidden. And Tranquille has got the ability to help and comfort anyone, and is quite timid." Amy said.
"Oh, you've read it?"
"You read it. Aloud. And then went yowzah!"
"Only you could fancy someone in a book." Rory said.
"I'm just reading it. I just like the cover." The Doctor said.
"Ooo, can we see the cover?" Amelia asked, the blonde detective walking towards the Doctor.
"No, no, I'm busy. Amy, it's your hair! Is it your hair?" The Doctor asked, looking at Amy.
"Oh, shut up. It's the glasses. I'm wearing reading glasses now, on my nose, see? There you go." Amy said.
"I don't like them. They make your eyes look all liney. No, actually, sorry. They're fine. Carry on."
"Okay, I'm going to go and get us some more coffee. Who wants more coffee?" Rory asked.
"Coffee? Really? How about we get some tea for our friends?" Kyoko asked.
"Me too. I'll go! Come on, Kyoko."
Rory began walking away with Kyoko.
"Rory, do I have noticeable lines on my eyes now?" Amy asked.
"Yes." The Doctor said.
"No." Rory said.
"You didn't look." Amy said.
"I noticed them earlier. Didn't notice them. I specifically remember not noticing them."
"You walk among fire pits, Centurion."
"Do I have to come over there?"
"You can if you like."
"Well, we have company."
"Mami and Kiara can be the babysitters." Amy said, kissing Rory.
"Wait. I didn't sign up for that!" Kiara said, angrily.
"Yes, you did." Mami said, frowning.
"Oh, do you know, it is so humiliating when you do that." The Doctor said, looking between Amy and Rory.
"More humiliating than knowing what happened in Christmas 2020." Jared said, sadly. "So much fighting and innuendos."
"Right, I forgot you watched us while you were spending Christmas with the Ponds in 2013." Amelia said, looking at Jared.
"Coffee?" Rory asked.
"Coffee." Amy said.
"I'll also get us a lot of tea." Kyoko said, walking away with Rory. "We will be right back."
"Can I have a go?" The Doctor asked, putting on Amy's reading glasses. "Oh, actually, that is much better. That is exciting."
"Read to us." Amy said.
"I thought you didn't like my reading aloud."
"Shut up, and read us a story. Just don't go yowzah." Amy said, as Jared laughed a little and tore off the last page of the Doctor's book. "Why did you do that?"
"Ever since what happened to Donna, Penny, and Pyrrha. Along with what happened to the Holy Quintet in their home universe, I rip out the last page of a book. So the story doesn't end on a cliffhanger. I hate endings as much as the Doctor." Jared said, putting the page in the picnic basket.
"Right, Mami got beheaded." Sayaka said, recalling what happened in her universe. "I got turned into a Witch, Kyoko sacrificed herself to defeat me, Madoka became the Law of Cycles, and Homura turned herself into a demon."
"As Tranquille and I crossed the street, I saw the thin guy and thin girl, but they didn't see us. I guess that's how it began." The Doctor said, reading the book.
Rory is walking back with the coffees and Kyoko is walking back next to Rory carrying two bags filled with tea past a fountain with cherubs. After Rory and Kyoko past it, one of the cherubs is snarling, then it vanishes. A child laughs. It's giggles making Rory and Kyoko keep looking around.
"We followed the skinny guy and skinny girl for two more blocks before they turned and I could ask exactly what they were doing here. They looked a little scared, so I gave them my best smile and my bluest eyes, and my assistant showed her sad face." The Doctor said, reading the book.
Amy is playing Pooh sticks off the bridge. Jared is taking a photo with Sayaka, Kyoko, Mami, and Homura.
"Beware the yowzah. Do not, at this point, yowz. Doctor? What did the skinny guy and skinny girls say?" Amy asked.
"He said, 'I just went to get coffees and Kyoko went with me to get teas for the Doctor, Amy, Jared, HoloMyth, and the Puella Magi Holy Quintet. Hello, River, Madoka.'" The Doctor said.
Central Park - night…
"Hello, Dad, Kyoko." River said.
"Where are we? How the hell did we get here?" Kyoko asked.
"I don't know. But you have to put your hands up!" Madoka said, looking between Rory and Kyoko.
Because the man behind Rory and Kyoko is pointing a gun straight at them. Rory and Kyoko put their hands up.
"Damn." Kyoko said, looking at the man behind her and Rory.
A big black man walks up behind River and Madoka.
"Melody Malone? Exiger Tranquille?" Hood 1 asked.
"You're Melody and Tranquille?" Rory asked.
A limousine pulls up.
"Get in." Hood 1 said.
New York...
The Doctor, Amy, Jared, Homura, Kyoko, Mami, and Sayaka return to the Tardis.
"God, Tranquille Exiger. That's French for Madoka Kaname! How could I have not noticed that?" Jared asked.
Jared told HoloMyth to stay in Central Park, not wanting to lose them to the Weeping Angels.
"What's River and Madoka doing in a book? What's Rory and Kyoko doing in a book?" Amy asked.
"Rory went to get coffee and Kyoko went to get tea. Pay attention." Homura said.
"Rory went to get coffee and Kyoko went to get tea and turned up in a book. How does that work?"
"I don't know. We're in New York!" Sayaka said, annoyed.
Limousine…
"What is going on?" Rory asked.
Tardis…
"Where did you get this book?" Mami asked.
"It was in his jacket." Jared said, leaning against the TARDIS console.
"How did it get there?" Amy asked.
"How does anything get there. I've given up asking. Date, date. Does she mention a date? When is this happening?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes, hang on. Oh, April 3rd, 1938." Amy said, flipping through the book to land on the page.
Limousine…
"I think you didn't come here in the TARDIS." Madoka said.
"Why? The hell do you mean?" Kyoko asked.
"He couldn't have." River said.
Tardis…
"Couldn't have? What does River mean? Couldn't have? Are things playing similarly like how they were back home?" Jared asked.
Limousine…
Passing Grand Central Station.
"This city's full of time distortions. It'd be impossible to land the Tardis here. Or for Homura to turn back time with her shield. Like trying to land a plane in a blizzard. Even I couldn't do it." River said.
Tardis…
"Even who couldn't do it?" The Doctor asked.
"Don't you lot fall out, River and Madoka are only in a book." Amy said.
"1938. Easy one." The Doctor said.
Bang! Flash! Sparks! Warning, The scanner reports Temporal Distortions Detected, then No Signal.
"What was that?" Sayaka asked.
"1938. We just bounced off it." Jared said, running up to the TARDIS scanner to check. "This isn't good."
Limousine…
"So how did the both of you get here?" Kyoko asked.
"Vortex manipulator. Less bulky than a Tardis. And more precise than Homura's magic. A motorbike through traffic. Picked up Madoka along the way to keep me company. You and Kyoko?" River asked.
"I'm not sure." Rory said.
Graveyard…
The Doctor has landed so he can put out the fires in the Tardis. Nice view overlooking Manhattan.
"The Weeping Angels?" Sayaka asked.
"It makes sense." Homura said.
"It makes what?" Amy asked.
"Well, that's what happened to Rory and Kyoko. That's what the Angels do. It's their preferred form of attack. They zap you back in time, let you live to death." Mami said.
"Well, we've got a time machine. We can just go and get him."
"Amy, we tried that. And we're back where we started in 2012. The Battle of New York is happening nearby. And Hades is probably out there in the sky collecting souls." Jared said, looking at Amy.
"We didn't start in a graveyard. What are we doing here?" Sayaka asked.
"I know why. It's linked to what's going on. Don't want to think about it though."
"Jared, it doesn't matter." The Doctor said, peeking his head into the TARDIS. "Extractor fans on!"
"Well, we're going to get there somehow. We're in the rest of the book." Amy said.
"Doing what?" The Doctor asked.
"Page 43, you're going to break something."
"I'm what?" The Doctor asked.
"'Why do you have to break mine', I asked the Doctor. He frowned and said, 'Because Amy read it in a book and now I have no choice.'" Amy said, reading the page aloud.
"Stop! You can't read ahead. You must not do that, Amy. You can't do that." Homura said, running up to Amy to close the book halfway.
"But we've already been reading it."
"I think we can only do the stuff that's happening to us right now. In parallel with us. We can't read ahead." Mami said, looking at the view of New York City.
"But it could help us find Rory and Kyoko." Amy said.
"What if you read ahead and find out that Rory and Kyoko die?" Jared asked. "We're building up on karmic destiny if we do this. It is exactly what happened to Madoka and Homura."
"He's right. I lost Madoka, I lost everyone. Jared helped me get everyone back in the best way possible without me becoming a demon. And he helped me have my Madoka be here with me and be the Law of Cycles. This isn't any old future, Amy. It's yours with the Doctor, Jared, Rory, and River." Homura said.
"And once we know it's coming, it's a fixed point in time. Being able to change the future for the better. That's all I want, I don't want to lose the people I love due to not knowing what's coming."
"And Amy, I'm going to break something, because you told me that I'm going to do it. No choice now." The Doctor said.
"Time can be rewritten." Amy said.
"Not once you've read it. Once we know what's coming, it's written in stone." Jared said, walking away from the Doctor and Amy with Sayaka, Homura, and Mami.
Like the gravestone nearby that says In Loving Memory Rory Arthur Williams.
Grayle's entrance hall…
"Is that a vase?" Madoka asked.
River and Madoka spots a china vase.
"Ah. It is, darling. Early Qin dynasty, I'd say." River said.
"Correct. Are you an archaeologist as well as a detective?" Grayle asked.
Tardis…
"Okay, landing a plane in a timey wimey blizzard. I could push through, but if I'm out by a nanosecond, the engines will phase and I'll shatter the planet. I need landing lights." The Doctor said.
"Landing lights?" Sayaka asked.
"Yes, I need a signal to lock on to. What did she say? Early what dynasty?" The Doctor asked.
Grayle's entrance hall…
"Early Qin, just as you say. You're very well informed." Grayle said.
"You're afraid. Isn't that a lot of locks for one door?" Madoka asked.
"River, I'm translating." Rory said.
Chinese characters resolve themselves into English for Rory.
"Right. I forgot about that. The telepathic circuits." Kyoko said, a Pocky in her mouth.
And Rory is hearing Madoka and Kyoko speak English instead of Japanese.
"It's a gift of the Tardis. That's how you're able to hear Madoka and Kyoko speak English. It hangs around." River said.
"These two. Put them somewhere uncomfortable." Grayle said, looking between Rory and Kyoko.
"With the babies, sir?" Hood 1 asked.
"Yes, why not? Give them to the babies."
Grayle's cellar…
The hoodlum throws Rory and Kyoko down the stairs.
"The lights are out. You'll last longer with these." Hood 1 said, throwing down a box of matches.
"What do you care?" Kyoko asked.
"It's funnier." Hood 1 said.
"Great. Weeping Angels. I would take a Witch or a Familiar any day." Kyoko said.
Childish giggling.
"Kyoko? Are you okay?" Madoka asked, telepathically.
"Hello?" Rory asked, standing in front of Kyoko.
China 221 BC….
"In here!" Jared said, happily.
In a plate decorating workshop.
"Ah, hello, yes." The Doctor said, flashing his psychic paper. "Special commission from the Emperor."
Grayle's study…
As Grayle helps River off with her mackintosh, she spots the words Yowzah and Metanoia on one of the vases.
"Hello, sweetie, darling. Let's see, crime boss with a collecting fetish. Whatever you don't let anyone else see has got to be your favourite. Or possibly your girlfriend." River said, pulling the curtains to reveal a snarling Angel with manacles and chains on it. "So, girlfriend, then."
"I don't like that Weeping Angel." Madoka said.
River starts tapping on her Vortex manipulator keypad.
"Don't worry. I'm fine. I'm protecting the one thing that means the most to the Doctor, Jared, and Amy." Kyoko said, telepathically.
"What are you doing?" Grayle asked.
"Oh, you know, texting some boys." River said.
Tardis…
"One of the Doctor's catchphrases and my favorite song sung by Symphogear." Jared said, smirking.
Yowzah and Metanoia come up on the scanner.
"Landing lights. We have a signal. Locking on." The Doctor said, flicking switches on the TARDIS console.
Grayle's study...
"These things are all over, but people don't seem to notice. It never moves while you're looking." Grayle said.
"Oh, I know how they work." River said.
"So I understand. Melody Malone, the detective who investigates Angels with her assistant Exiger Tranquille."
"It's badly damaged." Madoka said, looking at the Weeping Angel.
"I wanted to know if it could feel pain." Grayle said.
"You realise it's screaming? The others can hear. Is that why you need all the locks?" River asked.
Grayle turns out the lights briefly, and the Angel grabs River's wrist.
"You're going to tell me all about these creatures. And you're going to do it quickly." Grayle said.
Out go the lights again.
"Oh no…" Madoka said, sadly.
Grayle's cellar…
Rory lights a match. There is the sound of childish laughter and small feet running.
"Hello, is someone there?" Rory asked, looking back at Kyoko. "Don't use up your magic. If you don't have any Grief Seeds."
Yes, there are little cherubs closing in each time a match burns out.
"I know. I know. It would be an absolute waste to use them on Weeping Angels." Kyoko said.
"Come on, come on." Rory said.
Then one is close enough to blow the match out.
Grayle's study…
"The Angels are predators. They're deadly. What do you want with them?" River asked.
"I'm a collector. What collector could resist these? I'm only human." Grayle said.
"That's exactly what they're thinking." Madoka said, frowning.
Then all the lights go out.
"What's that? What's happening? Is it an earthquake?" Grayle asked.
The wheezing sound of a struggling Type 40 can be heard, and papers start blowing around.
"What is it?" Grayle asked.
"Oh, you bad boys. The both of you could burn New York." River said, smirking
"What does that mean?"
"It means, Mister Grayle, just you wait till my husband and my ally of justice gets home." River said.
The Tardis lands with a thud, knocking down Grayle and breaking the Chinese vase.
Tardis…
"Come on!" Amy said, angrily.
"Just a moment. Final checks." The Doctor said.
"Since when?"
The Doctor checks his appearance in a brass plate that says - Type FD 12 Mk VII Rolls Royce Motors, Crewe, England.
Grayle's entrance hall…
Amy and Mami run out and up the stairs.
"Rory? Rory? Rory?" Amy asked.
"Kyoko? Kyoko? Where are you?" Mami asked.
"Sorry I'm late with Jared, honey. Traffic was hell. Shock. He'll be fine." The Doctor said, checking Grayle's body.
(Jared's POV)
Grayle's study…
"Not if I can get loose." River said.
"Where are the three of us now, Doctor Song? How's prison with you covering Ryuko Matoi?" I asked, walking up to River.
"Oh, I was pardoned ages ago. And it's Professor Song to the both of you."
"Pardoned?" The Doctor asked.
"Mmm. Turns out the people Ryuko and I killed never existed in the first place. Apparently, there's no record of them. It's almost as if people have gone around deleting themselves from every database in the universe." River said.
"River, you said we got too big." I said, letting out a sigh.
"And now no one's ever heard of either of you. Didn't you two used to be somebody?"
"Weren't you the woman who killed the Doctor? And wasn't Ryuko the woman who killed Jared?" The Doctor asked.
"Doctor who? Jared who?" River asked.
"She's holding you very tight." I said, looking at River's hand.
"At least she didn't send me back in time."
"She's not strong enough. I think." Sayaka said.
"Well, I need a hand back, so which is it going to be? Are you going to break my wrist or hers? Oh, no. Really? Why do you have to break mine?" River asked.
"Because Amy read it in a book, and now I have no choice." The Doctor said.
Amy is standing in the doorway with Homura and Mami.
"You see? You can't mess with karmic destiny." Homura said.
"What book?" River asked.
"Your book. Which you haven't written yet, so we can't read." Mami said, as the Doctor took out River's book out of his pocket.
"I see. I don't like the cover much."
"Wait, if River is gonna write that book. Wouldn't she make it useful?" Madoka asked.
"I'll certainly try. But we can't read ahead, it's too dangerous." River said.
"I know, but there must be something we can look at."
"Come on, there must be something. I can't remember all the episodes. A page of handy hints. Previews like you see on a movie, TV show, or video game. Spoiler free." I said, frowning.
"Chapter titles." Sayaka said.
I grabbed the book from the Doctor to scan the page of chapter titles - Chapter 9, Calling the Doctor and Jared, Chapter 10, The Roman and Ophelia in the Cellar, Chapter 11, Deaths at Winter Quay.
I spotted Chapter 12 at the corner of my eye that had me tear up a little but I held it all in. Because I thought things would change with me being here, but it didn't.
"Oh yeah, Rory and Kyoko are in the cellar!" I said, passing the book back to the Doctor.
"Gimme!" Amy said.
The Doctor throws the sonic screwdriver to Amy, kisses River and starts to leave. He then starts having a temper tantrum like me which means things didn't change there either.
"Doctor? Jared? Doctor, Jared, what is it? What's wrong? Tell us. Doctor? Jared? Doctor, Jared, what is it, tell us." River said.
Chapter 12 - Amelia's Last Farewell.
I then walked up to Madoka and began crying into her chest and began hitting out of frustration and fear of losing Amy and Rory, "Why? Why? Why did things not change with me being here?!"
"Okay, I know those faces. Calm down. Calm down! Talk to us. Doctor! Jared!" River said, angrily.
"No! This is not gonna happen! I'm not gonna lose anyone else! I lost way too many people over the years! River, you get your wrist out. You get your wrist out without breaking it! Mami, Homura, help her!" I said, walking away with the Doctor, Madoka, and Sayaka.
"How?" Mami asked.
"I don't know. Just do it. Change the future!"
Grayle's cellar…
"Rory?" Amy asked.
"Kyoko?" Sayaka asked.
"No! They're Angels. Baby Angels." I said, looking at the Weeping Angels.
"Did they get Rory and Kyoko? Where are they? Did they take them?" Madoka asked.
"Yes, I think so, yes." The Doctor said.
We ran back up the stairs.
"This is horrible! Why are we having a day like this?" Madoka asked.
Rory and Kyoko are near Winter Quay.
Grayle's entrance hall…
"So, is this what's going to happen? We just keep chasing Rory and Kyoko and they keep pulling them further back?" Sayaka asked.
"They aren't back in time. I'm reading a displacement, but there are no temporal markers. They've been moved in space, not in time, and it's not that far from here by the look of it." River said, looking at her scanner.
"You got out." I said, happily.
"So, where are they?" Madoka asked.
"Well, come on, come on, come on, where are they? Did things shift a little with me being here. Please tell me it did."
"If it was that easy, I'd get you to do it." River said, looking at me.
"How did you get your wrist out without breaking it? Did Mami and Homura help you?"
"You asked, they did. Problem?"
"River, you, Mami, and Homura just changed the future."
"It's called you being my bestest friend, darling. Now, hush, I'm working." River said, while her right arm is just hanging by her side.
"River, you're awesome. That's why I rely on you like I do with the Puella Magi Holy Quintet. Have you noticed? You guys are really, really good." I said, looking between Mami and Homura. "Thank you, both of you, for helping to save River."
"You're welcome." Homura said.
"Don't mention it." Mami said, smiling.
"Ah, wherever it is, it's within a few blocks. There's a car out front. Shall we steal it?" River asked.
"Show me! We have to save Rory and Kyoko!" I said, grabbing River's hand and she gasps in pain. "Son of a bitch. Damn it!"
It is broken. Meanwhile, Rory and Kyoko are getting into the lift at Winter Quay.
"Okay, when all those numbers on both units go to zero, that's when we've got a lock, okay? It's how we find Rory and Kyoko." The Doctor said, handing the scanner to Sayaka.
"Got it." Sayaka said, grabbing the scanner.
"Why did you lie to me and the Doctor?" I asked, sitting on the other side of River.
"When one's in love with ageless gods who insist on faces of twelve year olds, one does one's best to hide the damage." River said.
"It must hurt. Come here." The Doctor said.
"Yes. The wrist is pretty bad too." River said, and the Doctor transfers golden energy to River's hand. "No. No. No, stop that. Stop that. Stop it!"
"There you go. How's that?" The Doctor asked, kissing River's hand.
"Well, let's see, shall we?" River asked, slapping the Doctor's face. "Doctor, that was a stupid waste of regeneration energy."
River then looked over at me with embarrassment and I know what she is thinking of, what I did during an adventure she wasn't in, the Power of Three.
"Jared, I scanned your pendant earlier to check your mana levels since it's linked up to your Aura. And you must have used a stupid waste of it a while back. Nothing is gained by the two of you being sentimental idiots." River said, looking at me and the Doctor.
"River…" The Doctor said.
"River! I'm sorry!" I said, looking up at River. "I know I did something stupid! It was to save a lot of Magical Girls!"
"No, you and the Doctor embarrass me." River said.
"River!" The Doctor said.
River, Mami, and Homura walk outside.
"Tell you what. Stick to the science part." Amy said, grabbing the scanner from Sayaka to give it to the Doctor.
(Open POV)
Outside Grayle's home…
"Okay, why did you lie?" Amy asked.
"Tell us. Please." Mami said.
"We need to know." Homura said.
"Never let them see the damage. And Amy, never, ever let them see you and Rory age. You, the Puella Magi Holy Quintet are lucky, since you're Magical Girls. But that doesn't change the fact that you can still go into despair and turn into Witches. The Doctor and Jared don't like endings." River said.
Grayle's entrance hall…
"Yes! Finally!" Jared said, happily.
Beep!
"There you are." The Doctor said.
Outside Grayle's home…
"Got it. They're at a place called Winter Quay. The car, yes? Let's go." The Doctor said.
They drive off, watched by the mother and son statues who then notice that Grayle's front door is ajar. When he wakes up, they confront Grayle.
At Winter Quay, an apartment door opens before Rory and Kyoko can touch the handle, and they go inside. There are Angels in the corridor.
Limousine…
"Why would they send them here? Why not zap Rory and Kyoko back in time, like they normally do?" Mami asked.
"We'll know that when we know what this place is." Sayaka said.
"Winter Quay." Madoka said.
Winter Quay apartments…
Up in the lift.
"Rory?" Amy asked.
"Kyoko?" Mami asked.
"They're close." River said, looking at her scanner.
"Rory!" Amy said.
"Kyoko!" Sayaka said.
Apartment 802. Madoka, Sayaka, Mami, and Amy entered the room to see Rory and Kyoko there.
"Rory!" Amy said.
"Kyoko!" Madoka said.
"Amy." Rory said.
"What the hell have you guys got me into?" Kyoko asked. "Weeping Angels? Really?"
"Doctor, Jared, look at this. Why is it smiling?" Homura asked.
The Doctor and Jared see the nameplate by the door - R Williams. K Sakura.
"Amy. Rory!" The Doctor said.
"Girls!" Jared said, looking for Madoka, Sayaka, and Mami.
Apartment 802…
"Get out of here! Don't look at anything. Don't touch…" The Doctor said.
"Who's that?" Amy asked, looking at an old man in the bed.
The old man points at them, very 2001 A Space Odyssey.
"Amy. Amy, please. Amy, please. Please." Old Rory said.
"Rory? He's you." Amy said.
"Amy." Old Rory said, dying.
"Will someone please tell me what is going on?" Rory asked.
"I'm sorry, Rory, but you just died." Jared said, sadly. "And you died way after Kyoko Sakura. Which explains why she wasn't there with you. Kyoko, you must have fallen into despair and turned into a Witch."
Chapter 11 Deaths at Winter Quay.
"Right. Like hell that happened. Me turning into a Witch." Kyoko said, scoffing.
"Well, this place is policed by Angels. Every time you try to escape, you get zapped back in time." Sayaka said.
"So this place belongs to the Angels? They built it?" Madoka asked.
"Displacing someone back in time creates time energy, and that is what the Angels feed on. But normally, it's a one off, a hit and run. If they could keep hold of their victims, feed off their time energy over and over again." The Doctor said.
"This place is a farm. A battery farm. How many Angels in New York?" Homura asked.
"It's like they've taken over every statue in the city." River said.
"The Angels take Manhattan because they can, because they've never had a food source like this one. The city that never sleeps." Jared said, sadly.
Slow heavy footsteps outside the window.
"What was that?" Madoka asked.
"Rory, I don't know. It could be something different from what I remember. But I think they're coming for you and Kyoko." Jared said, grabbing Madoka's hand.
"What does that mean? What is going to happen to me and Kyoko? What is physically going to happen?" Rory asked.
"The Angels will come for you and Kyoko. They'll zap the both of you back in time to this very spot, thirty, forty years ago. And you'll live out the rest of your life in this room, until you die in that bed. While Kyoko Sakura falls into despair and turns into a Witch." Homura said.
"And will Amy be there?" Rory asked.
"No."
"How do you know?" Amy asked, looking at Homura.
"Because he was so pleased to see you again."
"Okay. Well, they haven't taken me yet. What if we just run? What if I just get the hell out of here with Kyoko? Then that never happens." Rory said.
"It already happened. Rory, you've just witnessed your own future." Jared said, angrily.
"Jared, he's right." Mami said.
"No, he isn't."
"If Rory and Kyoko got out, it would create a paradox."
Still the slow heavy footsteps.
"What is that?" Madoka asked.
"This is the Angels' food source. The paradox poisons the well. It could kill them all. This whole place would literally unhappen." River said.
"It would be almost impossible." The Doctor said.
"Loving the almost."
"But to create a paradox like that takes almost unimaginable power. It's like messing with karmic destiny. Which is what Madoka and Homura did. What have we got, eh? Tell me. Come on, what?"
"I won't let them take Rory. And Sayaka and Mami won't let them take Kyoko. That's what we've got." Amy said, grabbing Rory's hand.
"Whatever that thing is, it's getting closer." Sayaka said.
"Rory, Kyoko, even if you got out, you have to keep running for the rest of your life. They would be chasing you forever." Jared said, frowning.
"Well, then. Better get started." Amy said, opening the apartment door.
"Damn." Kyoko said, looking at the Angel outside.
"Husband, run!" Amy said.
"Let's go! Mami! Kyoko!" Sayaka said, looking at two of her friends.
Amy, Rory, Sayaka, Mami, and Kyoko run past the Angels. The lights flicker.
"Doctor, girls, I'm not sure this can work." Jared said, looking at the Weeping Angels.
"Darling, shut up." River said.
An Angel blocks the doorway.
"Madoka, don't blink." Homura said.
The light flickers again and they are in the room.
"Right." Madoka said, looking at the Weeping Angel.
Apartment stairwell…
Amy, Rory, Sayaka, Mami, and Kyoko run downstairs and meet Angels.
"Up!" Amy said.
"What good's up?" Rory asked.
"Better than down!"
(Jared's POV)
Apartment 802….
"Fuck!" I said, looking at the Doctor, River, Madoka, and Homura. "This is like the Crash of the Byzantium all over again."
The Doctor sonicks the light bulb to keep it on.
"Um, I think this is more on the lines of 1969." The Doctor said.
The Doctor, River, Madoka, Homura, and I are surrounded by Angels.
"With what? The Weeping Angels or the Silence?" Homura asked.
"We can't keep doing this." Madoka said.
"Any ideas?" River asked, looking between the Doctor and I.
"Normally, I would fight. But since it's Weeping Angels. And I'm with the Doctor. I'm doing the usual with him. Which is running!" I said, grabbing Madoka's hand.
Amy, Rory, Sayaka, Kyoko, and Mami make it to the roof, where the Lady is waiting for them.
"Running away is necessary." Homura said.
The Doctor, River, Madoka, Homura, and I see the Angels on the stairs.
"Okay! Fire escape." Madoka said, taking the lead from me to pull me down a certain direction.
Winter Quay roof…
"I always wanted to visit the Statue Of Liberty." Rory said.
"Tell me about it. New York City." Sayaka said, sadly.
"It's a wonderful sight." Kyoko said.
"But the Statue of Liberty like this." Mami said.
"I guess she got impatient." Rory said, running to the opposite edge, behind Amy's back.
"Shit. There's no way out of this." Kyoko said, telepathically.
"What's the plan, Mami?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.
"I don't have one." Mami said, telepathically. "What about you, Jared?"
"I was never mentally prepared for this adventure." I said, telepathically. "Just stay where you are. All three of you. We'll be there soon."
Rory climbs up onto the ledge.
"What are you doing? Rory, what are you doing?" Amy asked, turning around and going to Rory. "Rory, stop it. You'll die."
"Yeah, twice, in the same building on the same night. Who else could do that?" Rory asked.
"Just come down, please."
"This is the right thing to do. This will work. If I die now, it's a paradox, right? The paradox kills the Angels. Tell me I'm wrong. Go on, please, because I'm really scared. Oh, great. The one time you can't manage it. Amy, I'm going to need a little help here." Rory said, taking Amy's hand and putting it on his chest.
"Just stop it!" Amy said, angrily.
"Kyoko, you'll have to turn into a Witch." I said, telepathically.
"So, fall into despair and turn into a Witch? That's your plan?" Kyoko asked, telepathically.
"More like, the entirety of the Puella Magi Holy Quintet turn into Witches."
"What are you saying? Why should we turn into Witches?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.
"Is that the best idea?" Mami asked, telepathically.
Mami looked at Sayaka and Kyoko, feeling torn on what to do.
"I think it's the only one Jared has." Homura said, telepathically.
"The flame isn't wrong." I said, telepathically.
"I don't have a problem with it." Madoka said, telepathically.
"It would mean that I won't be able to see you again." Homura said, telepathically.
"We're creating a paradox, right? We'll save everyone. Maybe. We have to do it."
"I don't want to lose you again."
Amy gets up on the ledge next to Rory, "Prove it."
"No, I can't take you too." Rory said.
"You said we'd come back to life. Money where your mouth is time." Amy said.
"Amy, look."
"Shut up. Together, or not at all."
The Doctor, River, Madoka, Homura, and I arrive via the fire escape.
"Now!" I said, looking at the Puella Magi Holy Quintet. "Do it girls. On the count of three."
"What the hell are you doing!" The Doctor said, angrily.
"One…"
"Changing the future. It's called marriage." Amy said.
"Two…" I said, looking at the Ponds.
Gazing into each other's eyes, Amy and Rory fall off Winter Quay.
"Three…"
The Puella Magi Holy Quintet turned into their Magical Girl forms and let their Soul Gems turn black as the five of them turned into Witches.
"Amy! Amy!" The Doctor said, looking down the roof.
Balls of energy gather and flicker around the roof. I looked around to see Candeloro, Kriemhild Gretchen, Oktavia von Seckendorff, Ophelia, and Homulilly floating around Winter Quay.
"Doctor! Jared! What's happening?" River asked.
"The paradox. It's working! The paradox is working!" I said, excitedly.
Whiteout.
Graveyard...
Rory, Amy, and the Puella Magi Holy Quintet sit up.
"Where are we?" Madoka asked.
"We're back where we started. You guys collapsed the timeline. The paradox worked. We all appeared back where we belong. Together." I said, running up to my family.
"What, in a graveyard?" Kyoko asked. "We didn't start here. We started in Central Park."
"This happened the last time. Why always here?" Amy asked.
"Does it matter? We got lucky. We could've blown New York off the planet. I can't ever take the Tardis back there. The timelines are too scrambled." The Doctor said.
"I could have lost all of you." I said, running up to Madoka for a hug. "None of you, don't you ever do that again. Promise me. Please."
"What did we do? We fixed it. We solved the problem." Sayaka said.
"I was talking to myself."
The Tardis has a bit of fire extinguisher damage.
"So, that was an interesting adventure." Mami said, looking at me.
River appears from behind it with a bucket of water and a rag.
"Yup. Weeping Angels. I don't want to see one ever again. I'll still visit New York though. Since the Avengers are around." I said, happily.
"The Avengers?" Homura asked. "Who are they?"
"Superheroes. One of my favorite groups."
"And they have a base here?" Madoka asked.
"Where is it then?" Sayaka asked.
"Stark Tower." I said, smirking. "Which is somewhere in the city."
"I hope we can meet them someday then." Kyoko said. "They sound like they mean business."
"Doctor." Rory said.
"Ha!" The Doctor said, happily.
"Look, next time, could we just go to the pub?"
"I want to go to the pub right now. Are there video games there? I love video games." The Doctor said.
"Right. Family outing, then." River said.
"But first we should pick up HoloMyth at Central Park. I want to have them do some karaoke sessions at the pub." I said, looking back at River.
The Doctor, River, the Puella Magi, Holy Quintet, and I go into the Tardis. Rory hangs back.
"Amy, come and see this." Rory said.
"What?" Amy asked.
"There's a gravestone here for someone with the same name as me."
"What?" Amy asked, when Rory vanishes. There was an Angel behind him. "Doctor! Jared!"
The Doctor, River, the Puella Magi Holy Quintet, and I run out of the Tardis.
"Where the hell did that come from?" Kyoko asked.
"It's a survivor. Very weak, but keep your eyes on it." Homura said, looking at the Weeping Angel.
"Where's Rory?" Amy asked.
The Doctor and I see Rory's gravestone - aged 82.
"I'm sorry. Amelia, I'm so, so sorry. I brought the Puella Magi Holy Quintet to try and change things. But it ended up backfiring in the end." I said, looking at Amy.
"No. No, we can just go and get him in the Tardis. One more paradox." Amy said.
"Would rip New York apart." The Doctor said.
"No, that's not true. I don't believe you."
"Mother, it's true." River said.
"Amy, what are you doing?" I asked, watching Amy walk up to the Weeping Angel.
"That gravestone, Rory's, there's room for one more name, isn't there?" Amy asked.
"What are you talking about? Back away from the Angel. Come back to the Tardis. We'll figure something out." The Doctor said.
"The Angel, would it send me back to the same time? To him?" Amy asked.
"I don't know. This is a parallel world to the show. So nobody knows." I said, sadly.
"But it's my best shot, yeah?" Amy asked.
"No!" The Doctor said, angrily.
"It isn't! For fuck's sake! It isn't!" I said, grabbing Sayaka's hand.
"Doctor, Jared, shut up. Yes. Yes, it is." Kyoko said.
"Amy." I said, looking at Amy.
"Well, then. I just have to blink, right?" Amy asked.
"No!" The Doctor said.
"Don't!" I said, fixated on Amy.
"It'll be fine. I know it will. I'll be with him, like I should be. Me and Rory together. Melody?" Amy asked.
"Stop it. Just, just stop it!" The Doctor said.
River takes Amy's hand and kisses it.
"You look after the Doctor. You be a good girl, and you look after him. And the Puella Magi Holy Quintet, you lot and the rest of Jared's friends, look after him. You are part of Jared's family, so look after him." Amy said.
"You are creating fixed time. I will never be able to see you again." The Doctor said.
"Amy, I can't have adventures with you ever again. I can only video chat with you if you're in the past. That's it. Nothing else!" I said, letting out a lot of tears.
"I'll be fine. I'll be with him." Amy said.
"Amy, please, just come back into the Tardis. Come along, Pond, please." The Doctor said.
"Amy, I don't want to lose you. Please. Come back to us!" I said, squeezing Sayaka's hand.
"Doctor, my Raggedy man, Jared, my ally of justice, goodbye!" Amy said, turning her back on the Angel, and vanishes.
Rory's gravestone gains more words - And His Loving Wife Amelia Williams aged 87.
"Jared, everything's gonna be okay…" Mami said, walking up to me to comfort me.
"No! No, it won't!" I said, as I moved my body to cry into Sayaka's chest.
Tardis…
River and the Puella Magi Holy Quintet are flying the Tardis while the Doctor and I are inconsolable.
"River, they were your parents. I'm sorry, I didn't think. I could have prevented this if I tried harder." I said, sadly.
"It doesn't matter." River said.
"Of course it matters." The Doctor said.
"What matters is this. Doctor, don't travel alone. And Jared, don't fight monsters alone." River said.
"Travel with me, then." The Doctor said.
"Whenever and wherever you want, sweetie. But not all the time. One psychopath per Tardis, don't you think? Okay. This book I've got to write. Melody Malone. I presume I send it to Amy to get it published?" River asked.
"Yes. Yes." The Doctor said.
"I'll tell her to write an afterword. For you and Jared. Maybe the two of you will listen to her." River said, leaving me and the Doctor alone with the Puella Magi Holy Quintet.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Sayaka asked.
"Something important." Mami said.
"Jared, you ripped it out." Homura said.
"What the hell are you sitting around with the Doctor for?" Kyoko asked.
"Read it." Madoka said, happily. "Come on."
"The last page!" The Doctor said.
"God, I'm so slow." I said, laughing a lot.
Central Park…
The picnic hamper is still there, with the last page in it. The Doctor puts on Amy's reading glasses again. The Puella Magi Holy Quintet and HoloMyth are sitting behind me to make sure I can cope with this well.
"Afterword, by Amelia Williams. Hello, old friends. And here we are, the three of us, on the last page. By the time the both of you read these words, Rory and I will be long gone. So know that we lived well, and were very happy. And above all else, know that we will love the two of you always. Sometimes I do worry about you two, though. I think once we're gone, you won't be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don't be alone, Doctor, Jared. And do one more thing for me. There's a little girl waiting in a garden. She's going to wait a long while, so she's going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story. Tell her that if she's patient, the days are coming that she'll never forget. Tell her she'll go to sea and fight pirates. She'll fall in love with a man who'll wait two thousand years to keep her safe. Tell her she'll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived and save a whale in outer space. Tell her this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this how it ends." Amy said, her voice in my head.
