You tough enough to hang with the guys?

Contrary to what I believed, I almost instantly fell asleep but the next morning I was tempted to seek Julie out. I don't want to seem like I need her to make living here bearable.

If she talks to me today, then I'll listen to what she has to say, otherwise, I need to take my mind off of it before I cave.

As I got ready for the day, I thought about things I could do. I could go for a swim, but I refused to get my hair wet again. I could watch a movie, but I didn't know how to work the movie theater. I could get that 4-1 time with the boys… yea, that actually sounds decent.

Alright, but first I have to see if they're doing anything today. So I hurriedly finished dressing, cleaned my glasses, and pushed them on as I made my way out of my room, before I opened the door, it opened for me and Jessie was standing behind it.

"Good morning Miss, breakfast is ready." She said.

"Thanks, Jessie." I thanked her and made my way done to the dining room, which looked a lot emptier now that the group wasn't there.

"Good morning, Em." Miria greeted me as I sat down.

"Good morning Miria, good morning John." I greeted them.

"Good morning." John greeted me back, I don't know why but I felt it was a sign of acceptance. I guess I let what I read last night get to my head.

A few minutes later, King came down and breakfast was served.

"G'morning ma, g'morning pa, g'morning Perky." He greeted us.

"Good morning King, are the guys doing anything today?" I asked and the air around me intensified. Bad time?

"Why?" He asked, picking up an egg.

"They're always around but I don't know them. I want to be friends with my friends' friends." I said, the air froze, then was back to normal. O....kay?

"Well, I was going to Deon's house today, I'm pretty sure all the guys will be there. I'll ask if you can tag along." He said, biting into the egg.

"Cool." Was the last thing I said before I dug into breakfast. And just like that, it was over.

"They said if your game, they're game," King said as we walked out of the dining room.

"I'm always game," I said.

"Great." King smiled down at his phone as he typed. Okay weirdo.

"Anyway, come on," King said, looking back up from the phone. I wordlessly followed him to the garage with again, the 4 limos and the one Lambo.

We got in the second one and drove off. I could see the candy calling my name like a prayer to the gods, but my gut told me that I shouldn't eat the candy right now.

Unfortanley, I gave in to my gut and stayed away from the precious delicacies, but I was glad I did.

As soon as I stepped out of the limo, I was harassed by multiple soft bullets hitting my body at high speed. I looked around and saw a nerf gun to my side.

"Guys are assholes," I rolled my eyes, grabbing the nerf gun and cocking it back, it already had bullets in it, King stepped out of the limo with one, but I didn't ask any questions.

We both fired shots at where the bullets were coming from, I heard one make contact with something but didn't care to see what it was.

Their bullets stopped and so did ours, King pointed to me and one way, and himself and the other way. I nodded and we started creeping towards our assigned areas. I reloaded on my way there.

As soon as I turned the corner, Deon popped up and fired at me. He missed multiple shots but managed to hit me a few times.

I aimed at his neck and shot him right in it. Sorry Deon.

"Shit!" I heard him yell, and I made my way around back.

J was waiting for me with one of those guns that shoot balls, that stuff hurts, not gonna lie.

I aimed for the same spot that had Deon on the ground. I hit my target and I saw him grab his neck and crouch over.

"Omg, are you alright?!" I screamed, he just raised a white flag.

"Surender!" He yelled and thrust his white flag in the air, all the swooshing of plastic bullets stopped and everyone came to the back.

"Damn J!" Jaylen said, seeing J crouched over.

"What'd you do?" He turned to me.

"I kinda shot him in the neck…" I trailed off as I rubbed my neck.

"Awesome, I'm totally using that!" Jaylen high-fived me and King and Deon did the same.

J stopped rubbing his neck and came to give me a handshake.

"You're definitely tough enough to hang with us." He acknowledged.

"You could've just asked me that." I giggled with an eye-roll.

"Maybe I'll do that next time." J sighed.

"Alright, everybody inside. Mom's got some lemonade for us." Deon said and we followed him in.

"Y'all gone clean all that up after this right?" Deon's mom asked us as soon as we stepped in.

"Yes ma'am," All of us answered.

"Good." She smiled at us, led us to the kitchen, and went off to do something.

I took the glass Deon handed me.

"Anyway, why are you here, King never exactly told us." I looked over at King and he shrugged.

"You guys are always around and I think I should know you more." I put it simply.

"Great. Heard you weren't one for water." Deon said.

"No, I like water, but you really don't get this type of hair wet. Ask King." We all looked over to King.

"It's like torture. Very. Loud. Torture." He said.

"Well, do you like basketball?" Deon asked, turning back around to me.

"I like it well enough..?" I said. Oh please oh please oh please tell me the basketball hoop in the driveway is just there for decoration. That nerf gun battle was enough physical activity for the next week for me.
