She and I

Once a month, this happens, only once a month, but I couldn't be happier at that one time in the month.

I got up and put on my favorite shirt. It was black and had a purple baby angel with roses on its wings and a gun in its hands.

It matched my purple, black, and gold shoes.

I put on some black ripped jeans and grabbed a cap and sunglasses, I don't need to be recognized today.

I grabbed my phone and opened it to text her.

[Good morning, I hope you haven't changed your mind.] I texted her.

[Never have, never will.] She texted me back with the kissy-face emoji. I turned my phone off and slid it in my back pocket.

Today's a Sunday, everybody who needs to be unaware of this should be asleep.

I walked down the stairs to see Mav waiting for me as usual.

"Are you ready to go, sir?" Mav asked me once I was on the last step.

"Yep," I answered.

"I believe you promised Miss Emmelyn a date today," Mav said as we walked to the garage. I would take dad's Lambo, but he barely lets me look at it.

"Tell her I had a meeting to go to." I shrugged, but I knew I was going to feel bad about it later.

I honestly forgot about my promise, I was so caught up in wanting to see Kelly, it was the only thing I could think of from the time that I got to my room last night until now.

"You don't go to meetings, sir." He reminded me.

"Come up with something creative and important," I told Mav. It wasn't like I was leaving her to chill with another girl. I mean, noting a dating way, at least.

"Yes sir," Mav sighed as he let me into the limo.

I watched my TikTok feed the whole way to her favorite coffee shop.

"Sir," Mav called for my attention after I got out of the limo.

"Hm?" I turned around and answered him.

"You're getting too old for this now." He shook his head. I shrugged and walked into the coffee shop, waiting to see my beautiful Kelly.

And there she was, in jeans and a crop top, sipping on some kind of Starbucks drink.

"King! I've missed you so much!" She hugged me before I even reached the booth.

"Me too, Kelly." I hugged her back.

"I saw you on the news with that new girl." She gave me a stink eye, which really didn't match her bubbly personality and soft eyes.

"Perky? Yea? What about it?" I asked, taking my seat across from her in the booth.

"You took her out on her first day and you got super close to her, and she already has a pet name." She pouted.

"I'm getting older now, plus, Kayla didn't interfere." I shrugged.

"Kayla doesn't like anybody, she must have bribed her or something." Kelly rested her face in her hands, collecting all the fat on her cheeks in one place.

"Kayla? Being bribed? I don't believe it." I said, Perky probably didn't even know I existed until she came to live with us, plus, I know her family is the most in debt to us, so she doesn't have any money to bribe her with.

"Well something happened, King, why don't you just tell them it's me." She lifted her hands from her face and crossed her arms on the table.

"My parents are so picky, they sent you out because they said you were rude and had a nasty attitude. They pick at things that aren't there, I'm sure Perky will be out in no time." I reassured her.

"Fine, by next month, I expect her to be out." She sounded demanding but threatened at the same time.

"What's up? This is the first time you're acting this way over one of the contestants." I asked, taking my sunglasses off.

"Same about you." She shrugged.

"You weren't like that with Clara." She told me.

"You didn't even touch Julie until 4 days after she came, and she was the person you were the most touchy with." She informed me about my own life. Like jeez, I know what happened the last 4 years.

"Whatever, Perky was just a natural hit with my friends," I said.

"Your friends are very excluding." She said with a sneer on her face.

"Okay- you know what, I came out here to enjoy today with you, not feud over my friends with you." I grabbed her up from her seat and pulled her out of Starbucks. We were in the heart of town, everyone was shopping and talking, and to the people, we just looked like a pair of kids walking the streets.

I saw a bakery and remembered Perky inhaling all the treats after the party.

"Look, there's a bakery, come on." I dragged Kell into the bakery and ordered half the menu. We sat down at a table outside and waited for the pastries.

"I'm not sure what made you want sweets so bad, but sure." She shrugged at me before I remembered that Kell wasn't one for sweets. She said they made you fat and could cause diabetes, and I couldn't blame her for that.

"I uh, want them for a friend." I wasn't going to tell Kell that I was thinking of Perky when she was right next to me, that'd end us right on the spot.

"Oh? I haven't known anyone to like sweets that much." She didn't question me.

"Look, I just got this notification from your fan club's youtube. Says you had a pool party Friday." She turned her phone to show me.

"Oh you won't want to watch that, it's boring," I said, bringing my own phone into the equation.

I heard an abundance of noise and then the announcer say something about a couple and something, I wasn't really listening.

Then, my heart dropped when I heard Kayla scream 'you bitch' and Perky scream 'omg'. I heard the video stop and Kell slam her phone down on the table.

"As if walking out holding her hand and cuddling up with her wasn't enough, you basically let her walk around naked pushed up against you like some horny dog!" We caught some people's attention.

"Calm down, Kell, what are you talking about?!" I hissed and grabbed her shoulders to make her sit.

"No! I won't calm down! That bitch ripped her swimsuit!" Kell reminded me of Perky's accident. Kell and Lira became friends back when she was a contestant, despite Lira using me. I always thought she was so sweet because of it.

"Watch your fucking tongue." It was out before I could stop, I don't like to curse at people and hardly do it.

"I thought you were better than that, King, I thought you were different." She walked off and people shot me a look of pity before walking off.

"Whatever," I scoffed. A waitress brought me the pastries.

I thanked her and called Mav, and to think I could've spent the day besting Perky.
